  • where can i get a case3 lyk that??

  • I would honestly prefer a case mod where you use the original PSX's case.

  • I been wanted to do this for my playstation 2 console. the problem is. there doesnt seem to be one out for Ver 9 and ver 10 consoles. I have a very 3 10 screw console that I had planned to change. but the top I bought is a 8 screw.. later I found a ver 4 that would be a good project. But I have to fix the laser and the drive try before I chance the case. I like the new look. and it is like you can use slap magic. or just play the games without pushing eject.

  • I wish you people would realize this isn't all that hard...

  • Holy crap and i thought installing the flip top for the slim was stressful, if i had to do all of this there is a 98.726% chance that something would go horribly wrong and my ps2 would be ruined, but then again im very clumsy so...

  • So glad I got the slim ps2 for importing.

  • that blue case looks cheap as hell

  • Negates, discard.... SweetJohnyCage plays Yu-Gi-Oh!

  • Weird... when I took my PS2 apart earlier today.. my PS2 didnt have that white cable cord type thing (yes its the original fat PS2) yet the power button and everything worked fine.. LOL

  • @Mewstarz dont forget there are different verisons of PS2 fat consoles. I have a ver 9, which the reset, eject buttons are attachedk to the bottom case. the ver 4 has one like what this dude has. I also have ver 3 which is a 10 screw case. the white ribbon cable for eject/reset is rather longer. I had to take everything apart to access the other end of that cable juedt to replace it. the ver 1 and 2 has fine wires on the switch.

  • @theyoungsurvivor Have you tried it? I heard people complaining it's hard but I don't know if it is or not, I've never tried.

  • hahahahahaha canned air WTF

  • can all version of fat ps2 use this flip top

  • Where's the link for this product? I can't find it.

  • wow a monk!

  • Dude its not worth it doing all of it if u have a fat ps2 go with the slide tool much easier

  • I missed where you replaced the black Reset/Eject button holder with the blue one. Is that difficult? Is it necessary?

  • impossible is all i can say, i bought an already made ps2 with a flip top on.

  • @azazel1893 Where did you buy it from?

  • @GangstaSteve8 erm, ebay.

  • do you have to put every part of the case? or can i just put the top one atop of the original one?

  • this allows the flip top opening

this and swap magic are necessary to play import games

  • For some reason I can't get it to go down all the way, probably because of the eject/reset button set. I need to buy some screws but I don't know what kind.

  • please try getting your website back up

i was planning on purchasing a flip top cover

    thanks

  • fat ps2 is such a pain in the ass.

  • :B So can you still play US games with the Flip Top Cover? Because I'm doing this for one game.

  • yes

  • All it does is change the case. I guess it violates the company guarantees and warranty but it changes nothing to the actual hardware. Just the casing.

  • Comment removed

  • DAMN this looks like a pain. anyway to buy one already done for me?

  • it is not hard at all?

  • Thanks man this really helped me out. (Now i can play Kingdom hearts 2 final mix :D )

  • Comment removed

  • @Kev1nnguy3n Aaaaaahhhh you I must speak with you haha. Okay so I'm trying to figure it all out, you DO indeed then need a modded or Japanese Ps2 to play that, yes? Yes. Also, I've been confused about the language situation, you can play in English but you have Japanese writing/menus or something? The other way around? Or can you just simply pick all English or all Japanese? I don't know anything so I'm trying to figure out what I must do or know to properly prepare for playing this game.

  • @iluvvsmp2 have you heard of swap magic? they can read backups and different language. I used to have a slide card for my ver 9 console. It worked for a while til the lazer hated me. so now I have other consoles I can mess with. like the ver 3 console, 10 screw, (with a long ribbon cable for eject/reset botton. in order to replace this you have to take the whole thing apart!) than I found a ver 4 in which I can try to mess with.

  • @Kev1nnguy3n my thoughts exactly haha

  • installed by myself one year ago, works perfectly, and paid only 15 bucks for that

  • I got this thing alredy, but therees something wrong.. doesnt fit on my ps2..

  • Fuck!! I ripped the ribbon out :(

  • thank god for the PS2 SLIM. this looks lik a bigger pain in the ass then the SLIM installment

  • hey, i tried using a slide tool on my fat ps2, but i messed up, and my tray isn't working. If i buy this will my ps2 work again, and will i be able to play imports (I have swap magic)?

  • Yep.

The flip top doesnt even use the tray, it just uses the laser to read. So you'll be fine.

  • Screw that I will just wait a whole year till naruto accel2 comes out in the U.S!

  • GEEZ IT'S 30 FREAKING DOLLARS! I CANNOT afford that, and I'd probably tear one of those ribbons, smash the disc player, lose the screws, etc... And the swap magic discs are 50?!?! WHAT? I'm gonna buy it on a different website, ugh... What's so bad about using a slide card anyway?

  • it can damage tray

  • I paid $30 for everything dude...

  • well done

  • Just want to thank you~ I watched a couple vids on this before deciding to put my flip top on, and this is the first one to explain in detail enough. The last one had good commentary, but the vid itself was so distant that you couldnt SEE what was going on.

Anyways, favorited, 5 star'd, and forever in your debt :D

    thx a ton

  • bro. There is no ribbon. And I have to take these really really tiny fucking screws out. aaaargh.

  • Seems,... Complicated... I'm glad i have a Slim PS2. :) i just need to save up for swap magic with flip top.. AND final mix.. i'm ordering final mix as soon as possible.... So i can look at it!!! :D

  • Alright, so I put mine together just a little while ago, and it makes a really loud scratching noise when I boot it up. It gives me a disc read error screen. I'm just wondering, what is it that I did wrong?

  • The same thing happened to me too. Can someone help?

  • when you take the case off the disc drive, there will be a small white magnetic disc in side it, slide that out and pop it into the flip up part of the swapmagic case, then it shouldnt rattle, as this magnet holds thre disc in place.

  • where can I buy the white disc thats included in the flip top, and above the spinner?

  • my ps2 didnt have any dumbass ribbons exept for the controllers. and i moved the fan to the side.

  • if i paid you say umm $25 to build this for me, would you? i would pay for the magic thingy and the flip top( $70 i think) then i will pay you the $25 also with that. so when i order i will pay $95 when buying the case and magic thingy. I will send my ps2 over to you. i will pay for shipping and handeling and also my drive is broken so will the flip top fix this problem? Please reply and thanks for your assistance, rozzz3

  • Just wanted to say I did this and it works great. The only issue I had with my install was that the screw at the 5:01 mark in the vid didn't match up with the hole for my PS2, so I wound up keeping the fan bay from my PS2 (the flip top case I bought is clear/black anyway so it looks fine).

Also, they don't tell you in the vid but you need to take the magnet out of the the plastic white disc holder (~7:22 mark) and put it in the white disc in the new case cover.

  • I just want to thank you for mentioning the Magnet thing. My discs weren't spinning and I was flipping out. Now it works great. Thank you Vlad.

  • This looks really hard, are there any first timers that done it correctly, was it easy, did you brake anything. I'm really scared of doing this as I don't want to use the slide card but want to use this method.

  • Yea same here with the slide card.

The first time I opened my ps2 I was real careful. Just practice taking it apart and you'll get used to it.

It wont be so hard the next couple times you try to open it.

  • its much more simple than it looks and doesnt take too long if you know what you're doing. be sure to research beforehand if you want the process to go smoother and faster

first time I opened up my ps2 was a total breeze; took about an hour because im really cautious and we dont have the money to buy a new one

but its really simple, and only requires a little bit of patience as well as caution

  • wow...this looks really hard on a fat ps2. I would be afraid of breaking something...Good thing I have the slim model

  • thanks fer tellin us that the swap magic disks are region specific!! idiots...

  • i would wanna ask u where your store located so i can buy it there instead of the site ? becuz i live in NY too

  • i broke the plastic where u screw in the screws, so im out 30 dollars

  • do u need the blue fan thing?

  • Should I practice on my old fat ps2 before doing this on my new one?

  • cant u use the bottom of the old PS2 fat and just avoid taking the original bottom off, and just replacing the top one??

  • yes you can

  • Crap... I've been thinking about installing a flip top on my PS2, but I was scared of screwing it up somehow. Doesn't look nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. I'll have to do it once I have enough extra cash for the flip top and Swap Magic :)

  • Thanks alot for this video tutorial! Just got my flip top today and installed it using this tutorial. Now I just need to buy a copy of Namco x Capcom...

  • thats bad ass

  • Nice video, that was impressive lol but What did the blue thing do, and wats a fliptop?

  • Hi..I was trying to take the fan out and I didnt know there was a cable so I yanked the cable out...It's not broken but im not sure where you attach it..Any help??

  • My PS2 likes that

  • i did everything but the disc spinner goes really fast then slows down and i dont know how to fix it everything else works fine though

  • is the fan replacement required? if so how much are they?

  • the fan replacement is only required if you break the wires connecting the fan the the ps2, otherwise just slip put the replacemnt fan cover on it

  • thanks

  • okay hey please help me after you switch the cases do you need the swap magic and what is it? and do we really really need it?

  • Dude i have a problem with the mod, i did all that stuff but when i put in a original US ps2 game in (guitar hero 2) the system makes like this loud noise after the Playstation 2 logo comes out. Also this ps2 never actually loads the games up, it goes to that screen that lets you choose browse etc. If any one could help me out with this id be eternally great full.

  • how come the modder is mute?

  • wow are you stupid? its like going blind or deaf.. you just cant talk anymore

  • Is it all right if I buy a USB cooling fan? cuz I ripped those wires to the fan.

  • I took my ps2 top off and theres screws that r freaking tiny I have to unscrew!

  • I took the top of my ps2 off just to get the idea and I opened the top towards me and there was no ribbon! And the open and power button Are connected to the bottom half. I will I follow ur instructions if my ps2 is totally different!!! The side of my Ps2 where the model number is says: SCPH-50001/N. Mabey that could help u!! Ill send u a picture with the top off!!

  • VGC is right. Mister Mute Modder is teh man~ x3

  • Im offically going to buy the clear blue fliptop cover!!!! It is sweet! THanks

  • Hmm, perhaps lose the bald mute and explain it while YOU do it.

  • Nooo. The Mute Modder is the Man!

  • @videogamecentral Is it required to replace the fan bay?

  • Thanks lads, I don't know if you deliver to the UK but if so I'll buy yours. Cool video!

  • just so you know, you can just replace the top of the case. i would make it a lot easier on you.

  • sweet

  • Sry about my comment!! I forgot u just cover the power and open/close button with the replacements!

  • also, on my version of the PS2, i didn't have to even touch the power/reset buttons. they weren't attached to the top of the PS2.

  • Thats the way mine is! Im going to order my new ps2 flip top case but If u dont touch the how do u change them to match the new case????

  • I am not sure. i just skipped that part. I didn't care if i changed those buttons or not. I also didn't want to break anything or take it apart and not know how to put it back all together again.

  • I just got mine in the mail. I put it together. It works great and looks awesome. It is very easy to do!

  • where do u get the flip top

  • can you just replace the top part only? cauz i dont want to mess my ps2 and my replacement part is only to make it flip top cover and its black... so im just wondering if u can still change it to flip top without takeing the bottem part out...

  • i know thats what i want to know, why da hell do they need to change the bottom when it has nothing to do with it...

  • They changed out the bottom to keep the colors matching. If you're just using a plain black top then you only need to replace the top piece, remove the drive cover, and reattach the power / reset switch.

  • Is he really mute?

  • the description can help!!!

  • I want to get one, they look awesome.

  • please someone help me out...im prepared to buy this but if i don't have a compatible ps2 im screwed.

  • u didnt even watch the entire vid did you? wtf n00b. watth at 6:01 and actually listen.

  • how can i tell if I have a compatible version of the fat ps2?

  • 2 things. first, yall need another video cause this one doesnt work for v1 ps2. second i recommend using the white disc that came with the original case cause the one that yall provide sometimes slips causing an annoying noise. other than that the flip case owns. since mine is clear i forget its a ps2

  • You guys skipped the part where you replace the face plate of the disc drive to the blue face plate. Other than that, fantastic video.

  • It made the video too long for YouTube, so we had to cut it short, only giving you guys the raw, absolutely needed parts.

  • Maybe make a part one and part two video?

  • When I purchase a PS2 slim, could I send my system to your co. to install the flip top for me?

  • keep up the videos guys. This is one of my favorite channels!
