  • Sorry bud but that's not a sailfin

  • Glyptoperichthys yes

it is not a gib pleco tho there is no way that is L83

  • that doesnt look like a glyptoperichthys, the body shape and fin doesnt match. a real G. Gibbiceps has a rounded fin and a very large head compared to a sharply tapering tail. The flat head and triangular fin makes your fish look more like a Pterygoplichtys species, or some sort of hybrid.

  • sometimes newly introduced plecos can refuse to eat and can often benefit from slices of cucumber anchored to the bottom

  • I just got a pleco and he's/she is probably 3-4 inches long...I'm hoping it doesn't get that big. I have him in a 10 gal tank for now but will be switching him to a 20 gal tank...hopefully it be happy otherwise I'll have to find someone with a bigger tank if it grows much bigger than 8 inches or so. I should have done more research doh.

  • mine is bout 7 inch n it likes cucumber 2 but unluky for him so do my 5 inch clown loach so he has to be quick

  • I had a big white one and it loved cucumber! haha :)

  • does anyone have any tips on raising a pleco?

  • are common pleco0s the same as sailfin or do they just look alot alike?

  • thats not a gibby its a pterygoplichthys multiradiatus. genus liposarcus techinically doesnt exist anymore and i dont think its a pardalis everyone automatically labels black sailfins as a pardalis but most people dont know pardalis have coalesced cheveron pattern on the sides. a only spotted pattern suggests pterygoplichthys multiradiatus. not as well known

  • Thanks, Is it true that all plecos have long trail poop?????

  • Liposarcus pardalis.

  • I had one like him a long time ago. Beautiful!

  • It's because I heard that the Plecos are the ones who bother the goldfish by sucking the slime coat and I'm planning to buy a small pleco so it would get use to their tank mates...............So you guys think it's a good idea?????????

  • I want to add a Pleco to my goldfish tank........Do you guys think it's a good idea to add it or will it harass my goldfish????????

  • I think that it is OK, Pleco is only interested in a seaweed.

  • Plecos don't tolerate salt, so seaweed is out.

  • ihave 2 in my goldfish tank.the goldfish are the ones that bother them & make it hard for them to eat their wafers!!!

  • @mnxmnx07 thatsn ot a great idea plecos prefer tropical temperatures in the mid 70s range while goldfish are coldwater.

  • I love plecostomuses!!!! I have a year old pleccy, and it's 9.5 inches long. I enjoyed your video.

  • Looks more like a Liposarcus multiradiatus to me. But what do I know. . .

  • Sailfin's get waaaaaaay too big. Up to 24", watch out!

  • thank you!Growth was slow unexpectedly.

  • yea i was just at the fish store with my kids & we saw an albino & one just like this, both about 20 inches -- i did not know they got that big (i have 4 smalls in a 55 gallon)!!!

  • There's no mistaking a happy plecostomus.

  • Cool! How big is he?

  • he is about 15cm,Gradually he has kept becoming large..
