  • I had it with lyrics on a 45, then when I bought the album, the words were removed. I sent for an import from France and it had the The Original Fabus of Fables on it. A Master Piece and every this should be included while teaching history of this country. In my version from France you can hear MFer in the lyrics.

  • Where/when was that photo at 1:23 taken?

  • great job ! ! 2 minutes are sufficient to prove that Charlie Mingus was a real genius and a premium composer ! ! ! many thanks ! !

  • This song is incredible. And the album Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus is tragically overlooked! The whole album is a must, it's one of the best Mingus ever did.

  • I saw Mingus numerous times at the Joyous Lake in Woodstock. I remember one night in I guess 76? they changed the lyric to 2, 4, 6, 8 Nixon knew about Watergate!

  • Dolphy played the alto sax on this song, rexious5, and Ted Curson played the trumpet.

  • Columbia records = pussies.

    Faubus was a frickin' dick!

  • where did you get this information about the reasons, was it mingus's Autobiography or what? i need to write a paper on it so i could use some help on where to look, thanks. good song

  • didn't know dolphy played trumpet too. thats sax, clarinet, bass clarinet, flute, and trumpet now. damn, that blows my mind.

  • @rexious5 It's Dolphy on Alto Sax, don't believe he ever played trumpet. However, he did play oboe. Just not often.

  • The version he did with the Jazz Workshop is the one you want.

  • Great, I didn't know there was lyrics with this fabulous Mingus'song. THANK YOU ! MERCI BEAUCOUP !

  • Wow, didn't know that this was it's original purpose. I just thought it was a freakin sweet melody.

  • This is amazing, and what great footage supplied, thank you charles mingus. and thank you for ignoring ignorant censorship as well and forging on with this song. i actually dislike the instrumental( which is odd cause i love it usually) due to its acceptable form instead of the actual true form which was not only accetpable but necessary. history repeats itself once again. love this video

  • Then he's a FOOOOL!! LMBO

  • I was at the greeley jazz festival to! it was awesome

  • I was at the UNC Greeley jazz fest this weekend and saw the mingus big band play this at the concert. Amazing!

  • haha, there's a sign that says "race mixing is communism"

    way to go america!

  • Well done! One of my favorite songs given a brilliant treatment on video.

  • Great song. Love the Fox News bit.

  • what album is this version from?

  • Album - Charles Mingus presents Charles Mingus. On that album the song is titled "Original Fables of Faubus" due to the fact that the version that appeared on Mingus Ah Um lacked the singing. Columbia wouldn't allow it.

  • Actually, it's "Original Faubus Fables." I'm such a perfectionist =P.

  • its the lyrical version actually titled original faubus fables. the other versions are the fables of faubus. after extensive searching i found this title difference. word

  • This is a fantastic contribution. You're a great guy for putting this up.

  • great song simply amazing...thanks for adding the lyrics

  • I'd give it an A! XD
