  • thanks man the video was not useful at all and the song was terrible. be a real man and listen to slayer while snapping useless pictures.

  • don't forget the h/d sun shell

  • how many trips to the store?

  • Пока АППП не откроешь, нельзя с уверенностью сказать, что вышло из строя

  • nice song

  • he says he knows what hes doing, but non of the clutch disc's he installed in the new trans were pre-soaked.......

  • @hondanutb16 makes checking backing plate travel and taking pictures easier.then lube them on final assembly ...

  • great vid IMO. Pics of every part addition, it seems. thank you for making this.

  • Nice work! but i will stick to a manual tranny

  • This is a 700 not a 300...??? It has an overdrive, smart one!!!!

  • If it only takes 5 hrs to do, why am I paying someone $1750 to do mine right now?

  • @picklehead7

Because it's 5 hours if you know what you're doing AND you do ONLY that transmission rebuild (getting it out and back into the vehicle doesn't count).

That, and you must consider not only the cost of labor to repair the transmission, but also the labor to get it out and put it back in the vehicle. Plus, there's the parts needed to fix it (there are many in a transmission and lots of those parts aren't cheap), shop material and disposal fees, overhead and taxes.

    It all adds up.

  • Great job man

  • well my rebuild room is like a hospital , clean as can be, that is the way to be .

  • you C <<<<<<,sucker looks like mexican dirty place , I dont know how you fix this transmission .

  • its not a hard job just labor intensive. all you have to do is replace the wet clutches and band brakes.

  • take off the fk.. music and put some explanation do you?

  • what explanation do you need? lol just observe and replace damaged parts, if u get a kit its pretty common sense... clutches and bands is what goes bad most of the time if not the pump.

  • NO DOC! ALWAYS build in a dirty room and put clutch packs and seals in DRY. That way your customers HAVE TO COME BACK! (hopefully after the warranty expires.)

  • bad song and no info did you put any of the mods and updates in this glorified 700r4

  • @fasttrackspecialist its a 4L60E not a 700R4 haha smart guy

  • @s84510j it is pretty much an updated 700r4

  • @s84510j so rebuilding it was basically pointless, had my 4l60e rebuilt two weeks after i bought my truck (dealer paid for it) giant piece of shit

  • i am about to rebuild the tranny in my Z71 how long did it take just for the rebuild itself , not including taking it out and putting it back in..

  • I have an 72 Chevy Impala 350 Engine with an 400 Transmission..and was wondering on the 400 Transmission do they have the kickdown cable on them...please inform me on this matter thanks and have a good day..!

  • no they have a solenoid in side that controls kick down, you will see a connector on the same side next to the shift linkage

  • training and experience allowed to do that

  • this is a perfect example of why transmissions don't work. built off a shopping cart while high on godsmack

  • Good point. I did the Mercedes auto trans systems class. Every chapter in every manual starts with, "Do not attempt major service or overhaul in a standard service facility. Ensure work areas are meticulously clean and dust free."

ALSO, from 2:00 to 2:45 I see steels and clutches going in dry (without any fluid being applied to the friction surfaces). Is that unique to Chevy or just this shop?

  • its as clean as you make it man, if your a dirty slob you need a clean shop, if your meticious and careful then things will work out fine, just cover opened components with rags or bags when not working on it

  • @eds64chevelle Agreed and these idiots are slobs for working in a garage full of trash. If there doing this for a living, they wont be in business for long. Idiots!

  • I just had one of these lose the 3rd and 4rth gear on me :-(. Not sure where to start.. I don't think I'm putting out enough horses to screw it up with a mostly stock z28 Camaro (just a Borla catback). What parts do you think failed? The 1st and 2nd gears work just fine. I've been thinking about racing so I'm not sure if a performance transmission would help me out or if I can just put performance parts in it.... if you're local I can give you some cash to help me out :-)

  • we have the same tranny name 4l60e, but it ends at that... honestly these damn things are a paradox, my 03 silvy had the bare bones 4l60e and it couldnt handle the 265hp i threw at it, my friend has an 02 trans-am running 12.2 on drag radials and his 4l60e auto hasnt batted an eye, although a ws6 has small upgrades such as survos and plastic upgraded... go chevy power lol

  • What's up... I'm doin' some homework on a rebuild, because I did a replacement, and it was sour... Since I have the old core, I'm gonna take my chances... Where can I find the rebuild kit for my 2000 Focus DOHC A/T??? Any special tools or input???

  • Bad ass song!!!

  • Great fn' Song...Godsmack rocks..nice vid..

  • everyone is scared of transmissions because no one has the courage to rebuild one , if done over 100 of all kinds , learned alot about them from chevy ford to mercedes dodge jaguar, i woould rebuild any transmission but ill never touch a real tranny

  • hey 1airforcebrat THANKS for the info I will look for a core and go from there

  • ehy good video but what's the name of soundtrack!?

    :)

  • Thanks for the info 1airforcebrat I got a turbo 350 I think I am going to tear into first a friend of mine aka moron towed it with the drive shaft on any idea what that would screw up? front pump? anyway I thought I would start with that then see if I should take on the 700r4 Thanks for the help

  • towing with the drivshaft in, usually destroys the planet sets (aka hard parts) you are better off buying a core and rebuilding it.

  • @1airforcebrat so how do you remember how it al goes back together and how do you know which part needs replace?

  • @greatbikes780 Man this is a 700 It has an overdrive

  • this trans is in so many cars

  • thats why I chose to vid one of these I build a lot of them

  • @1airforcebrat how much you charge to rebuild one ?

  • love your vid man I am going to try and rebuild my 700r4 but all proboly end up with lots of clutches and a fucked trans lol maybe I should buy a video. do you just replace all the clutches and steels then reassemble the valve body I would appreciate any info you could give me

  • wide 2-4 band, Alto Heavy Duty 3/4 clutch pack, Corvette servo, hardened steel reverse drum, hardened pump rings, always replace pump bushing, I could go on and on. If its an extra car go for it. If your gonna need the car pay somebody to do it right. Do not take it to the cheapest place you can find. BTW great question.

  • Do like I told you, build a beefy 4l60!

    Nice song, Nice video! Props!

  • Hmm has a nice ring to it. wheres the karioke machine and the tape recrder when you need it

  • the rebuild should take 2 days the mose

  • about 5 hours after doin it for 13 years

  • How long did it take you to rebuild it?

  • Took me about 5 hours becouse I kept stopping to take photos. Took a couple days to make the stinkin video LOL.

  • To: 1airforcebrat: maybe you are the person to ask.....I have owned "many" older cars all my life. I have bought some cars as old as 16 years. I have had "many" transmissions rebuilt by various companies from "Aamco (they suck) and even small ma & pa tranny rebuild shops. "WHY IS IT"......they never come back quite right.....the shifting is slightly off, shift hard in one gear etc. Is that just the nature of a rebuilt tranny? ....you pay your money....roll the dice and take your chances?

  • one reason they dont seem to shift like they did before a rebuild is because of alot of after market upgrades. when a trans is designed it is made for comfort with very little thought put in to durability and this can lead to tranny problems down the road. aftermarket upgrades are created to fix these desing flaws but also change the feel of the shifts, making some firmer, some softer, depending on the "flaws" the trans had from factory. IMO, a rebuilt should be more reliable vs factory.

  • thanks alot Gearbox.....that makes me feel i little better. I just got my 1993 olds cutlass back from a tranny rebuild
