It is a surprise how much people give away. The number of people I know who have the Location option switch ON for their Twitter posts, and don't seem to care. And forget about 4Square. Until I pointed it out to someone they didn't realise their FULL address was being tweeted as they linked Twitter to 4S!!
I guess we all have privacy at the back of our minds, but we forget how easy it is for a stranger to see the information we are happily putting on these programs and apps.
This video has played a major part on me now deleting my FourSquare account (that, and the fact that few of my friends seem to be using it either)
I find it kind of strange that people complain about sites like Facebook reviles their private stuff and the next second they post a lot of private stuff on FourSquare.
Ok, This is REALLY CREEPY! I was just looking at using foursquare but after this report, Uh, DON"T THINK SO!
However, I do see the day coming when privacey will be a thing of the past. Think about it, how easy would it be for terrorist to stay hidden in a completly open society. My 10yr old nephew said, when asking about lies and why people do it, "If everybody told the truth or didn't work so hard at hiding things, the bad guys wouldn't have a hiding places. Think about it!
Please stop the 1 second flashes of the images, its NOT Funny, Its illegal to do it on broadcasting TV so don't do it here!!!...Or has Chris lost his hold on this channel...
Anyone cans talk me when ever they like. I feel sorry for them if I catch them. (mmm... some creepy old pervert chained in my basement sounds very appealing right now)
Is there really such a thing as privacy? our government makes a lot of information public about us... all you need to get the information is go down to the local court house. there are a ton of websites who are willing to sell you that information... you can get some ones family tree online... so is there privacy?
lol, thats funny cus i was just about to post that i will be gone for a few hours and also plan on leaving all my doors unlocked. by the way my address is _______. HA!! did you really think i was going to leave you my adress after telling ALL of youtube that im going to be gone for a few hours to go to the mall and look at hot women? you must be crazy.
and sadly society does have idiots who will follow u on twitter and facebook just to do stuff like break into your house
idk... i dont mind putting information out there because i doubt any1 would care to stalk me (like most oblivious people) and expect to have something happen because of it, but i would rather that then restrict myself because of fear
The only way to allow someone to know where you're at, is if you friend someone on one of the location apps, or if someone posts it on Facebook and or Twitter. Then again, there's the privacy on Facebook where you have to change that only your friends can see what you post. Twitter is different because anyone can follow you, unless you block that person. Gowalla is awesome.
@GMELECTRONICS365 Technically, it's not the GPS that tells people where you are. It's the towers that your phone is utilising. Unless you let your phone use the GPS to tell people where you are, that is... just saying.
@GMELECTRONICS365 Yeah, that's what I'm saying. GPS's receive signals, but typically don't send any. It will tell people where you are more accurately, but only if you let it use your phone to do it. I'm not questioning your intelligence or anything. I'm just being technical.
@arxidamos13 It is legal. Authorities can't track you using it without something like a warrant except EMS. They use it to find you if you dial 911. You can turn the feature off on some phones.
I think a lot of people, mostly teens tbh don't know the danger about putting all their information online. I however am very careful with what I post online, for as far as I know I don't even have a photo of myself online.
@wilsontech1 Not really, but jump cuts are severely over used. Jump cuts are used to correct a mistake that was done but too much recording was done to re-take it. Or adding in a transition for a scene change.
@matthewrs7 Then I suggest not watching my vids. This is what I do and I have no plans to change because a few ppl dislike jumpcuts. The feedback is respected though.

Yes, it can be an unwise move to give too much info such as your exact address, but part of the purpose of location based social media is so that the online world can be connected to the real world. Foursquare provides a great opportunity for this. I don't buy the argument that we're giving away too much info to a robber. I'm pretty sure thieves know that most ppl go to work during the day, they dont need to check 4square for this. If they are, theyre wasting their time.
if privacy is a concern of yours than the internet must be a scary place (well the social areas like facebook and what not) but you dont have to give your information to anyone you don't want to so at the end of the day it comes down to what matters to the individual
When I used to use foursquare, I would only check in when I went out to eat.
Chillis and stuff like that. Never really cared for it though..
