  • Many thanks to this inspiring & fun video about BERLIN & all "for free"-remarkable!

  • lol du sprichst immer "berlin" deutsch aus

  • That's a really cool video! Thanks for the tour. I'd love to visit Berlin soon. It's crazy out of all the German cities I saw I never actually went to Berlin. Wasn't that sculpture at 6:20 recently in the news? I recognize it!

  • 5:21: It's #2 ;)

  • I couldn't agree with you more. (=

  • This is probably one of the best amateur travel videos ever

  • I wish I could agree with you, but I this video is clearly outclassed by that of Palpitatio Cordis. Video code: FcUyMsmi6b4

  • nice vid ^^ but how come you were allowed to film in the Neues Museum? Berlin is schon irgendwie toll ^^

  • It was late, I think they were no longer paying close attention. Tehehe

  • Wunderbar! Oh! Ich liebe das! :) Danke!

  • Hahaha, dachte mir dass DIR das gefallen würde. (c;

  • This reminds me of how much I love Deutchland!! You were saying that the uban is quiet. What about the airports! It is so refreshing not to hear a bunch of loud American (of which I am one-- not the loud ones though) shouting across the carousels. You know what I think of when I think of DE, its the construction cranes---they are everywhere! LOVED this vid!!!!

  • I used to be contracted as a security guard for PriceWaterhouseCoopers or the building they were in anyway.

  • How were the folks from PWC?

  • I suppose they were fine, but I really didn't talk to many of them because I worked nights on the weekends lol. They like to waste food though lol, so I would take some of their leftover food that was gonna go bad by Monday anyway. And there would be pop bottles that seemed only 5 gulps were taken from it, and I'm like "You didn't finish your soda!!! T_T" And it seemed like when it turned 5pm, everyone just automatically stopped what they were doing and went home.

  • Wow, that's <b>so</b> not how I imagined it would be. LoL

  • they are driving on the wrong side of the road!

  • Welcome to continental Europe. (c;

  • Well, in my point of view, they are driving on the right side...because that's the side we drive on in America. At first when I moved to Germany I thought they would drive on the left side like the British do........but they don't......and it made me feel more at home lol.

  • "One wrong-way driver? Thousands!!!"

  • I would love to see you do some other German cities. The weather's much better here in Konstanz ;-)

  • Unfortunately, I didn't have a camera with me in Hamburg. I might make one about Cologne, some day.

Hey, why don't <i>you</i> make one about Konstanz? I've never been there and I'd love to see it. (=

  • Excellent video! Thanks so much for doing this! Berlin is a great city

  • Thank you for taking us all on such a wonderful tour of Berlin, Aeric!! I did not know that the famed sculpture of Nefertiti was held in Berlin! Yet another reason to visit there ;)

As for the buildings at Potsdamer Platz I would vote for number one - the glass and sleek design give it a nice aesthetic appeal.

I can't wait to see Berlin one day, it looks like such a beautiful city and its filled with so many things to see (the museums there inparticular have a great reputation!).

  • It is definitely worth visiting. You should put it on your list the next time you come to visit Europe. (=

  • I gotta admit you are so talented! This is the second video I watched and I think I couldnt stop doing so if I wouldnt have to go to dinner ;) You produce them in a very entertaining way.

My very personal favourite is the DB-Tower, i.e. the third.

    Greetings from Saxony (Sachsen),

    Burkhard

  • Thanks for your kind words, Burkhard. It's a good thing you were called to dinner, too. I think an overdose of Aeric Winter videos can be hazardous to your health! (c;

  • What's more I showed this video to a brazilian friend who is now living in France and she was so amused and touched by it that she told she absolutely wants to go to Berlin. So I invited her to come with me ;) Thanks so much! Hehe

  • Haha... nice going, man! ^^

  • I just read in the news that the remaining fragment of the Berlin Wall you visited was torn down under government orders over the weekend. I wonder why.

  • Are you sure?

There was nothing in the German news about that, AFAIK.

  • That was a great video. My favorite part was the exhibit from Egypt.

  • It's actually a permanent installation in the <i>Neue Museum</i> and definitely worth a visit, should you ever be in Berlin.

  • Should I ever have an unofficial mission in that area I will have to be sure to check it out :)

  • Be sure to drop me an unofficial message when you do.

  • Thanks for letting us tag along Andreas. I enjoyed all of it.

    TonkaSal

  • Why does Angela Merkel live in a washing machine? At least her clothes are always clean I guess. And PLEASE stop complaining about German weather xD You know about British weather, it's god-awful!

  • Frankly, compared to the weather in Aachen, I found it quite pleasant in Bath.

And yes, maybe living in a washing machine does help keep our chancellors clean, heh.

  • I'm going to Germany in 2008, we should hang out dude!

  • Where to, doodette?

  • Near my hometown in Missouri is a large section of the Berlin wall at a Churchill museum. Thanks for letting me see where it came from.

The museum footage was the best part of your vid Thak you for sharing.

  • I did not know that. That's great!

  • I must say that about the best looking buildings candidate 1 is far beyond the other two since it is very elegant and so slender that i cant help wondering how they handle the wind loads. so spectacular! and i wish i have the chance to visit Berlin one day.

  • And maybe you will. Finally someone with some feedback about the buildings at <i>Potsdamer Platz</i>. I personally like the one made of bricks.

  • Ah this makes me want to do a scottish parliment video response - lol. cheers for the use of kalamazoo blues ;o)

  • Ack, and I <i>totally</i> forgot to link the website. I suck. I'll put it in the video description instead.

  • awh that's cool, i never even thought anything about it. cheers for that though :o)

  • man if i could get over my fear of flying, i would definitely visit Berlin. It's amazing!

  • But flying is such a wonderful way to travel!

  • Ach jaa...Berlin...ich liebe diese Stadt...

  • Andreas!! Thank you for the beautiful architecture footage and the shots of the courtyard! I LOVED IT! Inside the museum was great! I was ESPECIALLY excited to see the reminent of the Berlin Wall! To watch it being pulled down on TV when I was just 18 something I won't forget. I remember feeling very blessed that I lived to see it come down!! Thanks for taking me along! I love your trips!

  • Thank you so much. Editing this footage together was a real b*tch, I'll tell you. But if you enjoy it, it's all worth it in the end. (c:

  • OH MY GOD! FABULOUS!!!! They would NEVER let you just fulm in aq museum like this in America. Fabulous!!! Vielen Danke, das ist wunderbar! Es ist gerade wie, dort zu sein.

  • Are you serious? But it's not like taking footage would damage anything as long as you don't use any flash.

  • yeah, I know- but it's totally true- a perfect example of how grudging we can be about mundane things here =) Funny because when Americans go to other countries we can be totally invasive and embarassing.

  • Hah, I think every nationality is like that. I usually give German tourists a wide berth when I'm on vacation in other countries. (c;

  • coolio :)

  • Irgendwie...

    Ich dachte...

    Aber nein...

    Keine DoT dabei... *davonspring*

    TREFFEN YOUTUBE IN BERIN!!! ;)

  • Thank-you. Very well done.

  • thank you...i "trained" a side trip to Berlin in summer 2004 from Warsaw for a few days...beautiful city thank you for the memories....

  • How far is Berlin from Aachen? I'm determined to get back to Europe next year, and hopefully it wouldn't be too much of trek for you and Liv to meet me there!

Thanks for sharing Berlin; I'm definitely intrigued!

  • Hmmm, they're on opposite sides of Germany. But I suppose a six hour drive is no real distance to a U.S. American. LoL

  • I really loved this video. Berlin looks beautiful. Thank you.

  • Now I wish to go there. Great tour.

  • That was so neat!! Thanks for the tour. It is a beautiful city, even in the rain. I want to travel to Europe and see all the sights, you just put Berlin way up on the top of the list. Maybe one day I'll have enough money to make the trip!

  • I hope you will. It's definitely worth it. ^^

  • I'm in Berlin tomorrow! Shame I missed you :( Would have been nice to meet up to practice my German :D

    -Fox

(the English guy who left that video response in German once)

  • Hey Fox, maybe you can upload some Berlin footage of your own?

  • Lovely Vid, Andreas.

I sooooooooooooo wished I could get there on the 7/7/7. Berlin is now the place I MOST want to visit in Europe (other than Aachen, natürlich...)

  • Aufgeschoben ist nicht aufgehoben. (c;

  • (-: gute musik wahl und eine sehr schoene fuehrung durch berlin. Ich hab die nofretete auch besucht

  • I also thought the music choice was excellent... it gave a "captivating, beckoning, almost hypnotic" feeling to the video which was perfect for a Berlin tour!

  • Merci merci. The band is called try^d and all their songs are public domain.

  • Thanks for the tour Aeric - it was very interesting for those of us who haven't seen Berlin.

Did you know that an Englishman (Norman Foster) designed the Reichstag Dome - someone should have told him about the weather !

  • Yes, the Reichstag's history and Foster's part in it is carefully documented inside. Maybe, as an Englishman he didn't mind the weather so much, heh.

  • Glad to see you enjoyed your trip to Berlin! Thanks for the video! It was interesting.

  • pretty!

  • Aww nice vid andi! Looks like you had fun.. that was pretty cool seeing the remnants of the Berlin wall - I still remember the day it was torn down. :)

This made me really wanna visit Berlin.. I wish we took the time to visit when I was in Frankfurt (when we were in the same friggin country!) Well.. we are possibly planning a trip sometime this year.. maybe during summer.. inc Frankfurt (to visit MartyMcFly! :))

  • You should totally swing by. It's a great city. (=

  • I just really, really enjoyed this video! I spent several weeks in Berlin and this really brought back some great memories. Was the place (or building?) with the lions/horses in the brickwork, and the huge ceilings and grand arches etc a part of the Museumsinsel?? I was just really impressed by that; it was my favorite place of your "tour"! Thank you for this video, *great*!

  • Although--I also loved the "Andy's Diner"!! Now that is *MY* kind of eating establishment! (c;

  • Too bad I didn't have a chance to eat there. This summer, though.

Yes, the <i>Ischtator</i> is an integral part of one of the museums on the island. It used to stand in ancient Babylon.

  • Oh, how dare you speak in the Berlin metro, that's like talking in an elevator, just a cultural Don't

    xD

  • I'm really glad Liv and you liked Berlin. :) Next time try not to just walk through the Brandenburg Gate, try to touch or even hug it ... that's what I usually do when I'm there.

And for the Berlin wall: I recommend to see the museum at the Checkpoint Charlie ... or what's left of it - the museum is still there.

  • Brilliant idea. I am <b>so</b> hugging the Brandenburg Gate in summer!

  • BAUHAUS

  • lol, I didn't knew that the roof of the Reichstag leaks

  • It's not something that is widely propagated.

  • OMG, it's like they're speaking another language!!
