  • For myself, I shut myself off in my room when I was 18, did three 45 sessions of intense stretching for a little over a month, and was able to get into lotus in that time, which i can still do today, with no warmup. That said, a lot depends on age, etc, so maybe focus every other day on the lotus, to give your body some recovery time. Best of luck to you!

  • These are great videos, Mark. Thanks for making and posting them. I'd love to be able to get in to the lotus position, I just started today with your videos and can follow you as far as the half lotus, can't manage yet, legs are at funny angles with current level of flexibility. A question for you about frequency when combined with other activities. I do distance running, kettlebells and pilates. How many times a week would you recommend doing lotus stretches? Best wishes from Ireland.

  • Your sensation is normal. I would continue on the lotus prep exercises in earnest to reach your goal. Rushing it will injure you and set you back for months. Be savvy in your approach.

  • Thanks for your videos Doc. I just started Jui jitsu and for alot of moves you need the flexibility that the lotus position promotes.

  • Yes, that is correct. The details are in my video on hamstring stretches, also on this channel.

  • Hi, I have been doing some of these exercises for a while, and I just found your videos. Am I to understand that when you are stretching the hamstring, that you should keep the back straight and not bend the spine? Thanks : )

  • @ShaolinHero1 Or else your back's tendons will compensate, which you don't want. Don't bother about this "touch your toes" bullshit.

  • @shion255 yeah i figured as much. thanks a lot
