Im seeing them on 19th Oct in Cardiff. This is in my top 3 of their greatest tunes. I don't care that they have no backing band. No keyboards etc. That is fine by me. However if that is how Andy Summers is playing the verse I'm f**cking gutted! Sounds nasty. Also, by the way, I wish someone would get some balls and tell Sting he is not singing kareoke in the Adelphi club. Stop pissing around and sing it properly! I realise it's realistically not going to be the same, but come on now?
This is the way the song was originally written. It was to Andy's surprise that he should walk into the studio one day and hear that his guitar part was replaced with keys. I like the keys better, but I was happy to hear a version that may have been very similar to the original version. The Police put on an amazing show. These vids don't represent how well the audio was. It was excellent!
Despite Andy's amazing rendition of a creepy 80's synthesizer, it just doesn't cut it with me. Look, the song had keys in it, period. That's what drives the song is that chugging synth groove which for me, evokes the "spirit" in the song. They should at least have a back-up synth player, I mean the song Synchronicity has that amazing synth frill along w/countless other songs like wrapped around your finger. They (keys) would add dimension.
The Police dont need a backup band. The Police had backup singers during the Synchronicity tour but they didnt really make much difference in terms of the sound or harmony.
I know it sounds sillly but...few days ago I saw a video where Andy jumped (during on of their songs)- three times! I accidentally deleted that video from my playlist and now I can't remember which concert it was,not to mention which video it was. They only thing I remember was-the video was REALLY short(1 minute or less) and the lights were blue/white. That's it... :( Please, can someone at least tell me which concert it was?
sounds rough as hell - with a bit of luck, by the time they reach the UK, they will be in the groove. the fan reviews I've read so far have been very mixed. I hope Sting's tinkering doesn't fuck this tour up.
Agreed. It adds up to a more intimate vibe. As of Mexico, I hope they play there with 40 session players but not when I see them! / De acuerdo. Eso le da un aire mas intimo. Que toquen en Mexico con 40 sesionistas, pero no cuando los vea yo!
it´s too sad...it happend 25 years and they are playing with no back up band... There are too many songs with piano, keyboards, voices and the song seems to be naked. Just the voice of Sting and bla bla bla... anyway i´m a big fan and i will see them in Mexico City.
What is that Stewart says about Sting?

Andy's interpreting that keyboard line just fine. This is closer to the reggae feel that The Police are so fond of anyway.
This is a very special group. It's good to see them back on the scene again. Young musicians should take notes.
