  • TMBG did a similar version on their 1993 EP, "Why Does The Sun Shine." Sung by John Flansburgh.

  • Man - I never knew there was an original version! This is fantastic - it's like TMBG on valium :-)

  • I like this song its fun and educational

  • THIS IS AN EPIC FAIL... LOLOLOL ;3

  • Wow. TMBG took a boring song and made it fun.

  • Written in 1959, from an album recorded in 1965. And please, get past the Plasma/Gas/Miasma controversy. Yes, we've made discoveries in the last 50 years. Maybe not much, but 10,000 postings (probably the same one) has pointed out that it's a freakin' miasma of incandescent plasma We GET it!! Teachers have corrected this earth shattering misinformation, and kids are now being taught correctly. You can sleep now...

  • @jetcityhawk TMBG changed their versions chorus to "The sun is a miasma of incandescent plasma", which does sound better in my opinion.

  • @jetcityhawk I honestly don't care what the sun is made of. I grew up listening to the Space songs when I was small. And in my mind...the sun is still a mass of incandescent gas. Because, my carrer choice has NOTHING to do with knowing what the sun is made of. I enjoy the original. And I enjoy the TMBG version.

  • 1959

  • This thesis has been rendered invalid.

  • Actually, I think this song's from 1958, not 1965. (And besides, the sun is a miasma of incandescent plasma.)

  • @NyeTunes Your idea fails at being catchy.
