Actually Kroenen was a scientist. He believed that future of a mankind is a technology so he made himself part of a machine. He was a masochist took, pleasure in pain. Thats why his arms all sliced up lips and eyelids cuten off. Thats why he should wear his mask most of the time...because he cannot blink, also mask protects him from jerms. During the long times his blood turned in to the dust but he still lived because of hes mechanical body..based on the clockwork mechanism.
