The reason they are white is because certain places don't allow photography that is that close, they sell certain lens white so they are more noticeable. you wouldnt want your peeping tom being all ninja black now would you?

nikon uses CCD sensors made by sony, so they kind of partners

Nikon has them on their website ? And don't just buy one. Only suited for sports , wildlife stuff. And putting a 600mm on a D3000 or D40 isn't very great either. You should at least have a D300(s). They are epic expensive too...
