I love this song, I bought the english version of the movie about a week ago and when it got to this part I was like dang that was beautiful. Sound is just fine to me FullMoon1189 nothing wrong with it at all since it's the character singing and not soundtrack for the movie ^_^
Um what the fuck is this? Why even bother dubbing it if you're going to have someone sing it as if its a modern song? Why bother dubbing it, period? For lazy people? For people who don't give a shit about the artist? What a waste of time and ignoring quality

@Sei1863 English and the Japanese version are both good. People dub it for lots of reason, it is not to do anything bad to it. They dub for like, helping people to understand the song. Japanese have words we don't have, so it helps some people to dub it. And don't get so personal over this. Some people say 'My friend' to address people. @charmed4everfan i hear the difference it's just not substantial enough to say that one's terrible and the other is a masterpiece. it would seem you're the kind of person who just loves sub's and hates dubs. i'm open minded and was able to go through both and say "wow those are two extremely talented singer's". they both sing in the same tone and the only real difference i heard was in some of the highs and an echo effect. i can see if you prefer one over the other but they're equal in talent.

@charmed4everfan well i won't go into detail on the subject much more, but for the mmost part i don't see the japanese adding anything special (in fact sometimes the high pitched voices are very annoying) to the show as a whole. it's the same either way for me. i also don't see the originality in the majority japanese animation. there are some gems that are beautifully done and the story is a breath of fresh air but for the most part they're boring. maybe its cuz im a writer.
@charmed4everfan I admit the original is a total gem (and my personal favorite) but to call this dub horrible? I've seen Japan dub English cartoons and they often times screw up the whole plot and characters. Beast Wars was a perfect example for that. If anything, for you, you should probably say instead: "dubbing in general is a crime." So that way it won't sound like a one-way street.

I watched this movie for the first time on the internet in Japanese with english subtitles and I loved the way this song sounded in Japanese, and I like the lyrics. In the english version of the movie the translation of the song is pretty decent. But honestly, They could have just songified what I read in the subtitles to this melody. After watching the movie a couple times, I memorized how it went and went back to the Japanese version, and sang along with what was in the subtitles. ^^
i honestly don't see why people think Terru is ugly in the movie. i mean the scar doesn't deform her or anything in fact i think it giver her face more character

I prefer this version over japanese. In japanese it, well, it sounds nice, but the lyrics aren't so deep... I think. It sounds to me like typical anime song, but I may be wrong, obviously.
And Arren's crying is done way better in my opinion. I mean it looks the same, but here he doesn't sob like in the japanese version, so it seems like he's moved more.
japanese version is much better, and its a beautiful, sad song, goro made it in my opinion, not as good as his father but hes still pretty good, english version shows no emotion in comparison to japanese
The only thing that bothers me is how she ends some lines and the song...its keeps going up rather then down a key...other then that its really pretty...its just its all on the high octave getting higher at the end
@q3011992 If you dig deep enough, you'll find Hayao actually had a falling out with his son over this. Goro wanted to produce this film and Hayao refused to help him. Roughly a year after the films initial release Hayao and Goro came together again and Hayao congratulated his son.

I prefer this version over japanese. In japanese it, well, it sounds nice, but the lyrics aren't so deep... I think. It sounds to me like typical anime song, but I may be wrong, obviously.
And Arren's crying is done way better in my opinion. I mean it looks the same, but here he doesn't sob like in the japanese version, so it seems like he's moved more.
But that's just my opinion.

japanese version is much better, and its a beautiful, sad song, goro made it in my opinion, not as good as his father but hes still pretty good, english version shows no emotion in comparison to japanese

The only thing that bothers me is how she ends some lines and the song...its keeps going up rather then down a key...other then that its really pretty...its just its all on the high octave getting higher at the end

@q3011992 If you dig deep enough, you'll find Hayao actually had a falling out with his son over this. Goro wanted to produce this film and Hayao refused to help him. Roughly a year after the films initial release Hayao and Goro came together again and Hayao congratulated his son.

I love this song, and it is so beautifull! I cried when i heard it! And yet i like the original more, although i don't understand it. I can just hear how sad she is ....
If you like the english version, then you should clearly hear the japaneese version! =D
