"Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" that's what they're singing in Egypt right now, revolutions just replace one ruthless dictator with another.
the drumming is so fake ,anybody with half a brain can tell it's playing to a tape , I love moon dearly , but it always makes sick to see what used to be passed as "live' , maybe if you shift the camera's fast enough nobody will notice , tony fletcher is a whiny twat , trying to make a buck on a dead legend
Check it out! eric15746 is right! watch at 2:26 cause that is a foot NOT stompin"! They shoulda not bothered with that shot cause there it is for all eternity. A little limp foot hangin' by the peddle. Great trivial moment...and sooo Moonish!
I agree. However it just seems demeaning to me that all these amazing live bands like The Who, Stones & Queen were made to mime (on TOTP & Beat Club etc.). Just let them play live.
But mimed footage is better than no footage I guess.
There definitely was a vibe in the early 70's. It wasn't the 60's anymore. The vibe spillage was apparent in the Who and the Rolling Stones around this time. And in the, post Small Faces, Faces. It was very fab.
according to tony fletcher in his book "dear boy - the biography of keith moon" viv stanshall of the bonzos was behind keith with a piece of rope tied to his broken right foot and when they thought the camera was on moon stanshall was given the task of pulling the rope to make it look as though he was playing his right bass drum. ROCK N ROLL

This is kinda a wimpy version of the song, but still a good performance none the less.

Just Awesome: - Daltrey being the total frontman - Townshend doing a bit of 'bowling' - Moony on a mad one - Entwistle just cool as fuck

Daltrey was the frontman par excellence - so much charisma.

Nice to see John up front and getting his fair share of screen time.

Keith and John kill this song. They're absolute nuts on their instruments. Impossible to replicate the drums and that bassline.

3.10 - Pete hits his mike and follows up with a cute sheepish expression :D

Great song. Too bad it's mimed. The Who were a phenomenal "live" band. So TOTP should've let them perform this live. Makes sense. Miming is a joke.

@KawadaFan well look at queen, they've mimed and they were possibly the greatest live band ever

i hope you know that he can play WAY more than just rhythm...
Cookie2Head 2 years ago
Well yes I know but his rhythm guitar playing is surely his strongest side (rather than soloing)
dockaiser 2 years ago
maybe in this song, but you should watch him live at the isle of wight festival. he's AMAZING (especially solo).
