  • My I phone would have more computing power than all that junk there.

  • I actually managed to find the ad, it was for omo, darn good ad nevertheless, and it was'nt how I remember it ( literally only yesterday ).

  • Trying to find an ad from about the same era which features various guy's riding horseback, through the streets preparing for battle, I think it was an ad for chewing gum, I recall that one of the guy's started to chew some gum, or at least that's how I remember it, and I only saw it just the other day but I can't find it.

The guy's that's just chewed the gum, jumps through the letter O superimposed over the scene, it was very well done, would appreciate it if anyone knows where to find it.

  • Yes, this is the Australian version of the 1967 U.S. jingle (and ad campaign) for Juicy Fruit!

  • Did the PK gum have caffeine in it?

  • I contacted Wrigleys a few years ago and asked them what the title P.K stood for - they told me that P.K was the first hermatcally sealed package they had used and the the P.K on it stood for "Packed tight – Kept right"

  • @pyrofella - So far as I'm aware, the gum was named after Philip K. Wrigley (known as "P.K"), the son of the company's founder...

  • It's the same computer "bleeps" that Hey Hey it's Saturday use!! Haha!

  • @sygo7g - Yeah, Doublemint had two arrows, not Spearmint.

  • Must have had caffeine in it.

  • I've never heard of P.K gum. What flavor is/was it? Thanks.

  • Does anyone remember the jingle that went, "PK chewing gum, gum, gum. PK chewing gum. Get that big fresh flavour, wherever you go, whatever you do..." or something like it?

  • @Ph1lb - I remember it. I also remember the slightly rougher version my schoolmates used to sing when we were in Year 5.

  • I love the complicated computer equipment in her place of business, with multiple blinking lights.

This commercial is very interesting to me because it's a remake of the original American one. Those lyrics said, "Streeeetch - your coffee break

Top it off with Juicy Fruit Gum"

That being the gum's name in the USA. And of course, this was changed from a coffee break to a tea break. Note that the singer is American, which suggests the song was recorded in the US.

  • Not necessarily - a lot of commercial jingles recorded in Australia had US-accented vocals.

And I believe the US had both PK and Juicy Fruit, as we do here,

  • I much prefer Juicy Fruit!

  • I wonder what this woman does these days?

  • @ruantengyi probably in an old folks home with no teeth for chewing gum...or chews her own gums!
