  • so u can switch from android to linux anytime?

  • Now run crisis on it!

  • we all want Ubuntu, they need to make Ubuntu for phones en tablets !!! awesome vid thank u for it :)

  • Maybe get a bluetooth mouse and keyboard for it think that might work on the phone?

  • wow great video... you should try Ubuntu with Unity and make another video to see how it goes

  • whats the link

  • plz can you give me the link for this haret??????

  • PLEAAAAAAAAASE whats the name of the original music

  • @Faoman2011 Freestyler - Boomfunk MCs You have NEVER heard off this ? Its like 10 years old o.o

  • @Faoman2011 Bomfunk MC's - Freesytler

  • too bad i cant watch it my droid.... >:(

  • this is going to be perfect for the android tablet i plan to get in the near future <3

  • entonces android si es un sistema, operativo linux

  • @saul97749 si es linux pero con ciertas modificaciones para poderlo publicar bajo la licencia BSD

  • @EnavSounds gracias men ;D

  • @radicalgabage. There are people tuning windows 7 on the ipad so rinung a full OS on a phone don't think were far from acomplishing this but about the 1tb. Sd micro well we need finer lasers than the ones available right now to crest them and foe the 8gs of ram on a phone well let's just say its still a long way bc of the materials that are used

  • HD2= a true hacker's phone.

  • @lonelykatana It's really just an exercise in tinkering for the sake of it. Without projects like this, there would be no future of computing. I dunno about you, but I'm very interested in a future where my phone has a quad-core 3Ghz processor, a great graphics chipset, 8GB of RAM, 1TB of microSD storage, a trackpad, 720p touchscreen (probably the max for 4 inch screens), a slide out keyboard, USB hosting capability, runs a REAL OS, etc. while still being ultra low power usage. Give it 5 years!

  • What are the cahnces of putting a full functioning ubuntu on an android tablet?

  • @PostsThatMatter Try Chrooting Ubuntu on Android. Google for more info.

  • Android is the phone version of linux anyway, but i guess its got its limits. Looks like ill need a team of coders who want to help me create the next linux for mobiles with no limits.

  • Send me your config! please!!!

  • this way to do it IS BULLSHIT CUZ U once u reboot ur device it goes bak to windows mobile.

the only way would b to flash it

  • I need the start up for the HD2.. =o(

  • that is SO COOL! a mini ubuntu on the HD2 even if it isn't really quite working it's amazing you guys got it to even load. any updates on the project? I'll look on the internet for you guys but this is cool shit! Thanks for the video!

  • darkstone,

your the best!!! i have been using your 08/18/10 build, works great. thanks a million.

  • it is runind better on htc touch pro 2

  • i love the song man thanks!!!! u rocK!!

  • HTC Espresso has a physical keyboard, if Ubuntu could be installed, it could work,

If you could install such OS, it should be able to use printer drivers!!! just in case of emergency use :P very very useful I could say, at least something physical if use could come out of the work of a portable OS.

Drivers for the use of the camera and the rest of the hardware of the phone,

    could it be possible? :D

  • Your fingers are so big and clumbsy, use a stylus or something cos these kind of phones are not for people like you with big chunky fingers.. I have no problems at all using ubuntu on my HD2. The things you were constantly tapping at like a crazy person work 1st touch for me. Tree Trunk Hands.

  • Your fingers are too big.. don't you get it???? YOUR FINGERS ARE TOO LARGE.

  • hey darkstone ...you are doing a great job man......keep it up...everything works...but the batt. dies fast and task manager is not that good ...come up with better task manager to kill tasks...AWESOME JOB u rock!!!!

  • name sonG?

  • Hey pls can you give me steps to download / unzip the files to get HARET.. tHANKS

Tried a couple of times, can't get it to work.

  • Ubuntu feels so out of place on the hd2. It's just not finger friendly on something so small.

  • i hit run on mine like the start of the video but it wont let it run

  • is android apps store work as well?

  • @MrMausam1 yes it works.. most of the games work as well

  • @MrMausam1 just reset your phone and it willl be back to WinMo

  • any chance i can get this on my hd2? I CANT LIVE with WinMO any longer! :((

  • Do i think ill be able to install XDAndroid on my computer ? i have an old laptop with 1GB of DDR2 ram an and AMD 64 Turion x2 1.6 GHz processor, Running Windows isnt exactly so much fun, android would be awesome... Could i do it? even without touch screen support [ as thats not my main concern, i just want a working and installable android release ]

  • I need some help with this Haret stuff.

Mine HTC HD2 is hanging on 00:19 screen.

Nothing happens after that. Just a blackscreen.

And to be honest, I dont know why.

Is it my SD card? I've got a class 2, but ive also tested it with a class 6 or 8.

Does anyone have a solution or so?

  • @iMarv This is caused by either hspl not being on the phone, or the radio rom not being 2.08.?? or higher. IT causes the screen to just make a faded line effect.

  • @ProDyel Yeah, I changed my radio settings. I had 2.xx.51.xx or something and I needed to have xx.50.xx. So I changed this and it was working. Also using HSPL 2.xx

Now it is working, but exteremly slow.

  • nice work mate any chance u part of xda

  • Can your iphone do this?

  • @Railroadmaster hahahahahaa!!!!

    This MUST be a joke!!!

    :)

  • @kostikas84 Yes it was a joke. Htc Hd2 and Linux Ftw. Raw power FTw. ;)

    h ttp:// forum(dot)xda-developers(dot)com/showpost(dot)php?p=5969936&postcount=2

  • This is freakin fantastic, I bought my HTC HD2 without doing any research on the device at all assuming it ran on the some OS as the Evo 4 after a buddy of mine showed me his. Being that I was locked into T-Mobile already I couldn't go to Sprint. After coming off the iPhone and the App store then going to WinMo and the Marketplace this was like night and day. Man I can't wait to this is ported through cause I will be there like flies on poo. Already ran SPHL just waiting for this to release.

  • sweet.

  • That start up was like Matrix lol

  • okay since their calling this gsm evo does it do 4g? does it have an 8mp camera? does it have a front facing camera? no.. well then its not a GSM evo if anything its a bastard child of the evo.

  • talking about electronics and programming i say;

  • toooo gangsta!!! Dude I recently got my LEO about a week ago or so and when I found out there was no Android on it yet I was bummed and expecting to wait over a year to finally get it.... But the developers have been making crazy progress ever since I got it. CAN'T WAIT!!

  • wow that looks like shit. Ill stick with the EVO. The musics good though. Pardon me while I go get my parachute pants.

  • subscribed!!!

  • Damn, I just returned the hd2 because I just couldnt stand winmo. I was hoping to keep till you guys were done but only had 14 days to exchange. I got the mytouch slide. But i will get the hd2 when you guys finish the project. Thanks for doing what you guys do.

  • i turned on Airplane mode, vibration feedback, sounds, screen rotation, accounts and syncoff set turn off display to 30 min, etc and now Android seems to run forever, no blue screens. not to much to do either without wifi.

  • how do i get it please help

  • Thats a beautiful sight to see.. Ditched my HD2 already but nice to see progress

  • pls which version of freestyler is this song? thx

  • i jizzed in my pants

  • I love your work, keep it up!

  • You all simply bad asses. Amazing. You deserve a free steak dinner or something. Keep being great. Make it happen.

    All the best,

    James Harris

  • Remember folks, this is a very very early build of both distros, don't expect miracles! The fact that Android is running at this speed is amazing enough. Stabilty needs improving and that may not happen straight away, but the last few days have been explosive in terms of progress!

Ubuntu is a mixed bag at the moment, I didn't have access to the MID version during the filming of this video, the touchscreen driver is registered as a touchpad, so Ubuntu seems to think I'm dragging the mouse D:

  • @darkstone1337 dude your awsome. thx a million

  • @darkstone1337 so will i be able to run android and windows 7 mobile on my hd2?

  • @darkstone1337 -you are da man. As usual u are awesome!!!!!!!

  • The htc Freestyler, coming to Verizon Wireless this November!

  • this is awesome, little buggy but great job making it work on the hd2. hopeing it gets more stable

  • What a nice laggy UI you have there :S

What the hell hardware has that phone got, so it isn't very good.

  • @frigginthing you fail my friend

  • Freestyler FTW >Linux!

  • Hi engadget!

  • Epic.

  • Can i ask u what is the title of d music on this video? who sings it? Thanks.

  • @du1sbo

    Bombfunk MC's - Freestyler

  • @du1sbo Bomfunk MC's - Freestyler

    :)

  • @darkstone1337 Just fits in so well at the start of the video there with the boot animation.

  • @darkstone1337 я то думал, эту песню все знают, она ж древняя копец!

  • @s1xshg09e197 Вероятно, есть очень молодые люди, которые даже её не знают =)

  • @darkstone1337

Its the remixed version. Not orginal though. :)

  • what a speed in animations and when it switches screens on the homescreen :D

  • Love my hd2, but if this ever gets finished (judging by the speed of development it should be pretty soon ;)) we might be able to see what this mini netbook can really do :)

  • ubuntu don't seems work correctly on this phone... what a pity...

  • Amazing work,

does it needs to run always from the storage card or can it boot from the device? after all drivers work, can android be used as a primary(everyday use) OS? or it will never be that stable

    I'll contribute to the project

  • this is amazing thank god i waitedd and kept the hd2

  • I knew eventually this day would come, but I had no idea it would be this quick. Now that they've got the hardest part over with, it's simply a matter of time until a finish product is made public. You devs are killing it! They deserve a donation from everyone that converts to Android on their HD2 once this is all said and done.

  • this works only on some specific displays ...the ts driver needs a little bit of tweaking but some of the best devs are working on this. incredibile progress and great job ! it is amazing !!

  • WOW!! how many days will it take to be published?

  • Nice!!!

Ubuntu not running that great, but android runs like a charm, nice and quick!
