Great story. For me it seems, that this legend has traces of the glaciar coming and leaving. I am not geologist, though I believe that all legends always have some foundation to its stotie.

Only thing is Lake Tahoe was fishless until Lake Trout and Rainbows were stocked in the lake 1880s and again in the 40s...
Also, Grant lake was not really a natural lake, until it was damned up.. before then it was a slough or slow area for what is now rush creek...
