I absolutely love this movie. Pam Grier has been one of my favorites since I saw her in Coffee. QT has just got an amazing way of directing his movies that make you sit on the edge of your seat the whole time and go Huh? (From Dusk Til Dawn) SLJ is the quintessential slick ass, one liner dude. I LMAO on every line he had. His interaction with the other characters is priceless to watch.

That is, direct a movie whose original story isn't his own, that isn't entirely born of his own ideas. I understand what he means, and that's his right. But, IMHO, that's really too bad. Pardon me for saying, but unless Tarantino ever grows up, we'll never see anything this emotionally authentic and character-satisfying from him again. I hope he proves me wrong.

I still think Samuel Jackson should have got an OSCAR for his role in this movie. Denzel got 1 for training day but samuel acted like a better villian to me. Let us not forget pam came back hard acting her but off too. But all real credit goes to QT for being the mastermind behind all the great characters and excellent script!

@Htownscripter agreed. Insofar as it's QT's most mature, emotionally satisfying movie. But credit mostly goes to Leonard's novel & an absolutely FAN-TAS-TIC lead cast. Pace is at times uneven, w/too much emphasis on minor characters (DeNiro seems lost & Fonda's somewhat wasted - no pun intended). Despite that, JB's a rare, very special treasure. QT does a good job overall, and clearly loves the actors. But it's Leonard's story, and GRIER and FORSTER!! who really make this puppy sing.
