  • have seen others videos on youtube hunting bison with a bow and i think yours is the most humane. Obviously a young bull so wont have much affect on the population. and i agree with others posts about the reverence and respect you treat the animal with good show.

  • @barefootbushcraft Thanks for the comment, Glad you enjoyed the clip :-)

  • coward

  • @MrTigerrr25 Hahaha, Never walked around a herd with nothing but a sharp stick, have you.

  • Arent Bisons an endangered animal??

  • @Graome In some areas, yes they are. In other areas, like some around here, there are so many Bison that they are destroying their environment and contaminating the Groundwater with urine and ............ other stuff :-)

  • @RockDoctor07 Ok then it's fine i guess. There's nothing worse then hunters who hunt endangered animals and do not think of the consequences. Where are you hunting? :)

  • @Graome Northern BC, there are a few LEH Draws in the Sikanni Area.

  • @RockDoctor07 ah okey.

  • nice of you to put those creatures though pain so you can feel powerful and special.

  • @MissWooHoo1 Something you can relate to, eh? Didn't you wish harmfull shit on inocent children just so you could feel powerful and special? ROFLMAO

  • @RockDoctor07 ure the same as the people that bash children to make themselves feel tough. the school bully that picks on the kids in the kids younger grade. hunting like that is so wrong. you enjoy watching pain sick fuck.

  • @MissWooHoo1 Sounds to me like you enjoy watching pain even more than I seem to. Tell the truth now, YOU were/are one of the wimpy, whiney, crybaby kids that got picked on , right? Never could stand up for yourself,, always want someone else to deal with your little problems. Too afraid to do anything other than sit inside with your computer, living vicariously through people like me. Poor little wretch.

  • @MissWooHoo1 uhm no most people hunt for the MEAT! because it tastes good? stupid tree hugger!

I HOPE you don't eat meat!

  • @rockdoctor thanks alot mate

  • Does the arrow have enough power to kill it that quickly??? please let me know maybe its a stupid question but im just curious , as bullet can penetrate with speed and i was of the idea that bows and arrows were old age tools?

  • @DeadlyAquarious Actually, modern bows cause as much or more damage as a rifle slug, with a well placed shot. This Bison only went about 40yrds before expiring. The shot was a pass through, taking both lungs. I would never say a bow is "better", but with a good shot, at a reasonable distance, you can take large animals very efficiently.

  • Isn't that kinda... dangerous ?

  • @PeterKuypers I suppose, but what the hell, you only get one life, you might as well live it

  • did you only bring one arrow?

  • @bendotwood

No, the rest were in a quiver. You can see the ends of them when I'm digging around in the back of the Argo.

  • ARCHERY= REAL HUNTING!

  • You obviously hunt for food and material from your kill, I respect that. Americas general society is so used to having everything prepared for them and has no clue what it is like to have to kill, gut, and prep meat. Im not a hunter and never have but as I told my wife I want to be able to K.G.P. (kill gut prep) food for my family. I almost feel like less of a man because I haven't!! Where did your arrow hit and what type of arrow head did you use?

  • @sn0m0ns

The hit took out both lungs, just a little further back then I wanted, but a good solid shot. If I remember correctly, it was a "Puckets" Blood Trailer broadhead.

  • Hey is this legal? I really want to hunt one

  • @Lamborghini09 lol, of course. In ths area we have quite a lot of them, they are commonly refered to as "Alaska Highway Speed Bumps".

  • I can't believe they just stood there... ranch hunt... obviously...

  • @browningrage11 LOL, Actually wild ones have no reason to fear a "2 leg" with a sharp stick. They can be wary of people but have no reason to run unless spooked. Check out my "Big Bull Bison" vid, he's a monster, and just as wild as any. He's a loner and fears nothing, lives outside the open draw areas though.

  • @RockDoctor07 I appreciate the follow up- I've seen plenty of buffalo in Yellowstone, and Antelope Island in utah. These buffalo in your video act like them, with no fear; I understand that. But the only wild buffalo I have experience with are on the Henry Mountains here in Utah. They are elusive and don't like being anywhere near humans. At teh first sign of people they generally bolt... Thanks for posting the video...

  • 0:00-0:20 This is why I HATE ATVs in the wild...

  • @browningrage11 meh, couple willows pushed over, they'll be fine :-)

  • @RockDoctor07 Also- as far as the ATV, here in Utah, ATVers have been the cause of hundreds of road and trail closures due to "unauthorized Off-Road use"... So I'm a bit bitter about them on hunts anyway... I love ridin them out in the dunes and such...

  • I didn't know people still used bows. Interesting..

  • Nice video, very different to our hunting here in New Zealand. I like the camera work, I may have to find a helmet cam when I start archery shooting, my videos on here are nowhere near as well done as that!

I can't wait to get over that way next fall and seeing some of the animals, thanks for posting the vid!

  • nice filming man!

  • she could have been a pregnant cow,u just take a blind shot into the herd its plain STUPID

  • @1Patrioti OK, first off this is a fall hunt, so even if it was pregnant, or even a cow, WHO CARES, cows would have been knocked up within 2-3 weeks of this shot. Not to mention that the season doesn't open till the rut anyway.

Second, what was "blind" about the shot? It was placed damn near perfect, maybe a rib further back than I wanted. I clearly waited till that was the only Bison in my line of fire, and it was the last in line. It only made it about 35yrds after the shot.... perfect :-)

  • Looks and sounds like an Argo to me... Maybe?

  • @MawnteyCarlo Bang on :-)

I just dropped a 27HP engine into this one, had it out for it's first test run today. Works awesome.

  • @RockDoctor07 They're a blast! Do you have the tracks for it? Unstoppable!

  • @MawnteyCarlo Check out my newest vid, just uploaded yesterday.

It's a test run with the new 27HP engine in waist deep snow. Conquest is on Supertracks. I have another Conquest with 15" rubber tracks on it too.

    RD

  • awesome work i will send you my archery vid too

  • @timboob112 kallis tim, jobista oma playstationi ventilaator täis ja peksa oma eesnahka vastu laua äärt...

  • how did you manage to lift that sucker up alone?

  • @kx85kid12 Had to drag it to a stand of larger trees, then I winched it up betweent 2 of them, drove the argo under, and lowered it down into the machine. worked very well. I've also done the same thing with a couple Moose, over the yrs.

    Have a good one.

  • @kx85kid12 little repair: they arent suckers, they are great and respected spirits, but i hope, that you didnt mean it seriously:)

  • the 6 people that disliked this vid must not know how to cook bison meat good

Great shot placement by the way and awsome vid I hope to go bison hunting for the first time next year in the northwest territories bison meat is far too good to not go hunting for it

  • congrats u hunted down a cow

  • @leebmc91 Tks :-)

  • @RockDoctor07 hey man just gotta say fat truck just mowin over the trees what lift you got on it and what type of truck msg me back in msg or i wont get i thanks dope truck

  • great shot placement, nice video, thx for sharing

  • @hellotherehumane Angry? I assure you that I'm one of the happiest people you will ever meet. lmao

If "Growing Up" means not eating meat, then you can also rest assured that I will never Grow up, like it or not :-)

Interesting that you pity me for my lifestyle choices, and that I feel the same about you for yours.

  • @hellotherehumane By "constructive" you must mean I should be watching vids on YT that I think are "Disgusting and Utterly Inhumane", then I should Bitch and Whine about them to people that don't give a fuck about my opinion anyway?

Does that about sum it up?

  • I was gonna ask how the heck did you load that by yourself winch it in a tree.

  • @MrMrtiki LOL, yes, winched up between 2 trees and then lowered into the back.

Tks for the link to the other vid, that was interesting :-)

  • @RockDoctor07 hows the meat my friend told me it sort of chewy

  • @smallblocksupercharg

Depends. Younger ones like this are great, much the same texture as beef but leaner with better flavour , older ones can be a little "chewy".

  • deer hunter 2015 :)

    Ew, thats so messed up.

  • 10 stars for a great shot placement! At the end, your kids had HUGE smiles on their faces, that's worth another 10 stars!

  • WOW! Now that will feed the family!

  • Nice shot. He did not make it very far.

    Good hunting. (HBC'r)

  • TKS

    35-40yrds.

You saw all of the tracking, except for about the first 10yrds.

  • Bison is very tasty. I raise them. It has a lot more flavor than beef so some people who don't expect a lot of flavor other than fat flavor don't like it. As for the indians being the "greatest" archers, I seriously doubt all their kills with sinew backed self bows were as clean as this one. They used what they had to do what they needed. We also had plains grizzlies and grey wolves here in the midwest... once upon a time.

  • Hard to believe that back in the day these guys were all over North America, from east to west. Also hard to believe that there were people who could and would hunt hundreds if not thousands of them in one day. Ugh, industrial hunting. Sometimes I wonder why some brats think they're hunters because they got a powerful gun, a bullet, and they manage to kill something.

Nice shot BTW, hope she made some nice steaks. As I understand, bison meat is supposed to be tasty. Better than regular beef.

  • ya, its crazy. there are records of one hunter shooting over a thousand buffalo in less than an hour

  • thats not creepy or anything.

  • i think that you should respect the animals you hunt...The indians did and they were master hunters and warriors...they were the greatest archers of all time besides the samurai...I wanna bison hunt one day but i will be doing so with a hickory sinew backed bow like the indians did...traditional archery is they best way to hunt in my opinion as it brings you closer to nature and you forget about the modern world even if just for a little while

  • nice shot!!! but i gota say u got some guts to go after a bison with just 1 arrow :P

  • Tks, Glad you liked the clip.

I did have more arrows on my hip, I don't carry them on the bow.

  • I got that same bow, goin bison hunting in December. Was your buffalo a cow or bull, and how much did it weigh? About how many pounds of meat did you get from it?

    Thanks.

  • I was alone, and looking for something on the smaller side. This was a cow, never weighed it, but guess about 450-500 lbs.

  • ah ok thanks.

  • This was a great video. Not like some of the shit that other people are posting. Laughing at the animal after he shoots it or making stupid comments like " I guess i ruined his day " If your a true hunter you'll respect the game your after. Good job filming and congradulations!!!

  • great camera action

  • That's a hell of a lot of meat, should see you through the winter.

    Do you tan the hide?

  • LOL

That's an interesting thing for an American Hunter to say :-)

I suppose you would be OK with using a high powered rifle/scope, and shooting animals from half mile away? LMAO

    Hehe

    Cheers

  • It would be just lovely if it didn't have those awful neighbours.

  • holly hamburgers batman nice shot, great blood.ALL YOU RIGHTS ACTIVIST NEED TO KEEP YOURE FACE IN THAT EVIL FAST FOOD BAG SHUT THE FU...FUDGE UP.find out how they get between the buns ,how thyre slaughtered & raised ,birds too, then talk.cavemen hunted with sticks & rocks, ever wondered how long it take to kill a tyranosaur with a stick?.

  • Animals welfare is greatly removed from animal rights. Those supporting welfare just wish animals are treated well. Animal rights put down all animals and their Grandma just in case someone asks her to make a cup of tea for them.

Most humans have graduated a tad from using sticks and rocks as weapons.

Ancestors of humans never met dinosaurs so could not have killed them with sticks.

DON'T SHOUT, it's terribly rude. Basically kill the animal quickly and humanely, it's not that difficult.

  • i hope you get a Double lung shot oneday fag

  • I take it that you watch these videos, in order to contribute wth comments like these. But why? - You actually have no idea why you do this. But I do. To remind yourself how much better you are. So much better than the rest of us. Whether you like this or not, this is actually the case.

  • I loved the first person POV filming! Great hunt and good clean kill. Thats going to be some great eating too!

  • Nice hunt. A good clean kill! Were were you hunting?

  • Northern BC, Ft Nelson area.

  • Very nice. I have lived in Fort Liard NWT. Good luck on future hunts.

  • Nicely done m8. Still I don't like the fact that the animal didn't die instantly and obviously was in some serious pain for a short period of time..

  • Possibly, but here is a thought:

I know a guy who was stabbed in the abdomen (uncle), another who was shot (grandfather), another who took a broadhead in the side (Idiot friend), another who split his own face with a chainsaw (friand of friend), and some others as well (broken femur, ect). ALL agree that the initial injury didn't hurt much, it was well after that the pain set in.

This bison ran for a second, stopped and looked around, then walked a few yrds, then died.

    Tks for commenting

  • Well that is quite a terrible analogy to use isn't it? Very peculiar.

Adrenalin is the natural painkiller. As a hunter you shouldn't be relying on such a circumstance and instead concentrate on giving the animals you kill a quick death.

Bowhunting such large animals as these smacks of arrogance and there is no way to humanely kill large animals through firing pointed sticks into them.

    Use a bloody gun.

  • A well placed pointy stick kills as fast or faster than a bullet ;-)

Other than a lucky headshot, of course. But that's a poor odds shot, right? I've seen Bison shake of high powered rifle shots to the head, as though they were nothing more than mosquito bites.

  • good point, no pun intended. Sadly most "hunters" are in for the sport.

  • nice man. ive always wanted to do that and it looks amazing. whoever thinks that this is unethical is completely misinformed. compared to meat markets this is a merciful death. if the meat is going to be eaten then thank god for the hunt. amazing and i hope that more people can get out and hunt for sustenance as you did

  • Nothin' like shooting a wild cow. Seriously good kill! I've got a big bull in hanging in my living room.

  • Impressive. Clean kill.

No need for a noisy "elephant" gun we see.

    Thumbs up for "oldskool" hunting.

  • Great shot

  • let me guess crazy animal loving sycopath thats probably also vegitarian

  • Great video, very well done!, Nice bloodttrail, great to see those kids out there!

  • go kill yourself if you think the kids having fun with a dead animal is ok

  • chill man fuck its the circle of life its not like he tortured it

  • Not only is it great to watch successful hunting videos, you involve your children, and that is admirable. It is sad more people dont take the time to get their youngsters out in the field. Great job!!!

  • no hard feelings, but where is the fun in hunting that way? Why are we all de-skilling ourselves because we want to get a 100% kill on this day. This is just not called hunting anymore, what you are doing is called "I'm bored watching tv let's go kill a buffalo". If you guys ever travel to places and experienced archery events, please, don't tell anyone of your videos and experiences, you will make a fool out of yourselves so just warning you, seen it happen to many already...

  • Where is the fun in fireing arrows into a herd from 200yrds away? Don't worry about all those animals you wound, some might live.

TV with only CBC to watch does get boring, I suppose.

Thanks for the input, but opinions are like ASSHOLES:

Everybody has one, some are just a little shitier than others. lol

See ya at the Archery Shoot's, lol

I'll be the guy making a fool of myself ;)

  • And don't comment on your own unskilled shot as being a perfect shot. I know it's hard to shoot it in the neck even from your ridiculous close distance, but don't give dumb comments about your shot looking pretty good. What you are doing = No skill. You basically drove up to the herd, did a few steps, proved that you either suck or that commando bows are overrated, but you are giving everyone here an example of what not to do, unfortunately people learn and do the same laughable mistakes

  • The neck is a poor odds shot at the best of times. Not very ethical, you should know that.

When did I ever say anything about perfect shots, as best I can tell, you are the only perfect shot out there.

I'm starting to think that you are just a little bitter, maybe you should get out and try a little hunting, relax a little. Make a video, I would love to see a little of your perfection.

    Thanks for the laugh :)

    RD

  • lol great way of american bow hunting :

    1. Mow everything down in an SUV until you get 50 yards close of the buffalos.

    2. Take out rambo commando bow with ninja looking arrow, am not surprised if it was heatseeking.

    3. Walk up and and fire into a buffalo with sound absorbing bow, LMAO (my favorite)

    4. Post video on youtube and getting "Great shot" as reply.

Next time, get a 100 lbs longbow and try it from 200 yards away or just use a normal hunting bow and do it real and traditonal.

  • lol....American?

What SUV? No vehicles within 3 miles of these Bison, that I know of.

Where do you get your "heat seekers"?

Walk up and fire??? Would you have wanted to watch 6hrs of walking/Stalking through the bush?

100lb bow is only 10lbs heavier pull than this one (Yes, I have one). "Traditional" would have been to drive the whole herd off a cliff........I'm feeding a family, not a village ;)

  • your commando rambo bow, that a blind man can use does not the least impress me, for starters. Second of all, whether an SUV, an ATV or a Willys Jeep, it is stupid to go drive behind tracks and stop 50 yards next to a buffalo herd to then use sound absorbers on a bow ... for what ??? By the way your shot sucked, you bled the animal to death, at such a distance hit the liver ffs and get it over with. If you can use a 100 lbs, great, get a real bow and use real skills

  • lol, There you go with your ASSumptions again. Commando and Rambo used different bows than this one. The AATV was parked about 3 miles from the shot ;)

The sound absorbers came with the bow, and don't work anyway. You should know that.

Of course I bled the animal to death, thats how it works. The lungs were targeted, and both were hit. I think it's pretty obvious that even if I had used my Longbow, you would still be whining.

  • Yup looks like Phil another internet expert, arm chair hunting wannabe LMFAO

Well done RD a clean shot and humane kill with 100% meat harvest........it doesnt get anymore ethical than that!

  • Tks :)

  • Another anti-hunter posing as a hunter, trolling the internet, arguing with successful hunters. What a pathetic life he phili878 must have.

  • nice shot, man that was a ton of blood right before it dropped...

  • Glad you liked the vid :)

  • Now that's what I call a confident hunter. I got a kick out of seeing you open the bow case with your bow and ONE arrow. You must put in the practice time, as do I. I can't stand bow hunters who pick up their bow for the first time of the year, the week before season opens. Nice shot by the way. Gotta love an easy track like that. Well done.

  • lol, Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I did have more arrows. I just prefer a hip-quiver.

    Tks for commenting :)

  • That means NOTHING coming from a person that "favorites" Cindi Lauper.

    ROTFLMAO

  • Get a fucking life you idiot an dont worry about what we hunters do you stupid ass fuckers! go golf or something you jackass fuck!

  • love the vdo. if laws allow you to hunt, go ahead. it's your chance. i would do the same thing. bow hunting needs more courage and tactics than rifles. keep sending more of this. tks.

  • Tks for the comment ;)

  • I do believe this is the first video where I see someone hunt bison with bow and arrow. How long does the meat from one kill last?

  • Depends on the size of the animal, and the size of your family. 5 in my family, as well as a few other relatives. We can go through a Bison and an Elk per yr.

  • I'll leave you guys alone! I'm just biased-- for the beautiful American Bison! Only bison. I respect your right to eat. Please disregard the previous insults, and names!

  • I was also including you, and the "other men" who have made earlier comments, "advocating" this particular killing. That makes all of you killers--that's plural! You're telling me that the Whites "didn't" kill off a large percentage of the American Indians? Study history! Omnivore? Our digestive tract is mainly adapted for meat, and most people eat a meat based diet! For many, like hunters, meat comprises over 80% of their diet! That's carnivorous! I'm not an omnivore, I'm a vegetarian!

  • Killers vs killer? You are a part of the same redneck coalition, and have the same ideology! That's plural! Is that all you can do is look for a "potential" typo? It appeared as if, there were two people present.

  • I saw the video! Don't be sarcastic about the Indian reference. 49% polled, prefer being called American "Indian" over NA.You "whites" did reduce them (bison) to a few thousand, and even a "few hundred" by some estimates--late 19th century. Actually, I was wrong -- there were up to 60-100 million after further research, not 30 million.Only 350,000 thousand today, and only a few (a few herds in Wind Cave NP)that are "genetically unmixed".Carnivores "eat meat".You're still a carnivore(omni's too).

  • I hope that you "do" get poisoned from eating them. You cold-blooded killers!Primate killers!

  • ??

Did you even watch the vid?

  • You sick redneck killers! Go get meat at a grocery store--enough animals are killed for you carnivores! You whites killed the Indians off when you reduced the bison population from 30 million to a few thousand!I hope that they get you next time!

  • 1)Killer not killers, I was the only one there.

    2)I believe you mean "Omnivores".

3)You Whites??? I'm here to tell ya, "Indians" have not been killed off by anyone. We prefer the term "Native Americans" now.

4)I could show you a few thousand Bison any time you want.

    Thanks for commenting ;)

  • if you poison an arrowhead and kill something, is it dangerous to eat it??

  • Why would you need to use poison??

A well placed arrow kills just as fast, or faster, than a bullet.

    To answer your question,

    I have no idea ;}

    Tks for commenting

  • talk about a good blood trail, good job

  • does the meat taste anything like the steaks we buy from the supermarket?

  • Much better, It's very lean and very good.

  • just 1 arrow what if that bison was still alive what you going to hit with your bow

  • LOL,

I had plenty of arrows. If that wasn't enough, I still had my teeth :)

Watch again, when I get the bow out, you can see the spare arrows, green fletching. (bottom of the screen, hip quiver)

    Thanks for commenting ;)

  • Awesome! Good luck to you and your famliy!

  • Thanks

  • I love the ending ur kids look delighted, well done!!

  • They got to stay up past their bedtime, waiting for me to get home ;)

  • Ah, weren't you concerned about the other buffalo coming on protecting its member?

  • The herd bull did sneak up behind me, and got to within about 8 yrds of me before I noticed him. I didn't want to shoot him, so I kicked off one of my boots and threw it at him. lol. He left me alone after that ;-)

  • lol, good job

  • Now that`s a blood trail!

  • hey great shot! what did it weigh?

  • Not sure, my guess is between 500-600lbs.

  • nice man good luck in the future!!

  • hey.... wow... i live by here!!!

  • I really dig this video...where in bc you from? bh and the boyz are heading west to hunt bear on the island!

  • PM sent.

  • what does it cost to hunt buffalo up there?

  • With an LEH draw, it's just like any other hunt. Some time and a little gas to drive to the Pink Mtn area.

For a Ranch Hunt, its anywhere from about (I think) $400.00 to ........ as much as you want to spend

  • that is something i am very interested in.

  • I see you are from the US, that makes you non-eligable for an LEH draw. That would limit you to a Ranch Hunt (as far as I know, there are no Guide/Outfitters in BC that offer Buffalo hunts). I could probably set you up, but Northern BC seems like a very long way to travel for a Ranch Hunt?

  • yea, there are ranch hunts less than an hour away from me.

  • awesome video.

i would love to hunt a buffalo someday.

  • Now that is a freakin' blood trail!

  • Keep those North Country videos coming. Nice shot on the Buff !!

  • nice first person camera view

  • Did you get your arrow back?

  • You are AWESOME,

    My New Hero...

  • Hey Rock...cool vid. After working 30+ buffalo hunts this is the first one I have seen taken with an arrow! I dunno man, I have seen bulls go stupid scary after being injured and it seemed like you had no rifle for backup. You have big balls my friend!!

  • Hey man awesome , awesome, as well I'm jealous, looks like you have all the fun, Dude ,, and yea his cat prob. told him to waste the time to registar. ;)

    more vids. man, love'em

  • I'm jealous. That's some good eatin'. I wish I coulda' been the bastard helping you for a quarter.

Nice shot, and as an Argo owner too, I've gotta' say that you Canadians build nice rigs.

  • Pretty work!

  • This is sick u bastards

  • Bastards????

I was alone, there were no other bastards with me

  • opps sorry 1 bastard my mistake...

  • lol, You're so polite.

I see you just became a member.....you didn't go to all that trouble just to call me names did ya?

    ;-)

  • Cool video. I'm going to have to arrange a hunt with you some day. You seem to have such a wide range of adventure.

Looks like lots of work when the animal is down. Is there an open season for buffalo in B.C. as there is in Alberta?

  • Limited Entry is the only way to get a tag in BC. If you just want meat, you can also buy a buffalo or part of one from a "Ranch"

And you got that right, once it's down, that's when all the work begins
