I have both the 7D n 60D I only shoot video...I purchased a used sekonic L-608 cine meter which I love but sadly I only know the basic...I use it for everything I shoot but i'm not getting the DOF in my shots like I want...can u please make a video on how to get DOF with the meter...I have 7 lenses n only one can go to1.8 n the rest is over 2.8 so how can I meter to 2.8 if the lowest is 4.5 ...please help!!!
@bodytemple Answer Part 1: The Zoom lens in the L-608’s Spot meter is the reason you might have problems reading in lower light. Do your exposure measurements using the Lumisphere which allows for reading in lower light. Then set your frame rate and shutter speed and take a reading.
If using 24fps, set the meter to readout in 1/3 stops and set a shutter speed of 50 for the meter. Take reading at the subject with the Lumisphere pointed back at the camera lens. Adjust your lights or the camera ISO to get the aperture you want.
@sekonicvids yeah i never read with the spot always with the lumisphere, i point it at the camera and pop, i also have it set at 24 f/s on the meter..i dont know what you mean by setting it to read out in 1/3 stops i have my meter out the 7d manual out along with camera and the meter..ok right it reads 24f/s on my meter and my shutter speed on my camera is 50...i'm hoping the f/s means frames lololol cause thats why i had it in 24 on my meter
@sekonicvids how do i set it to read out in 1/3 stops? do i hold down the mode button? or do i find 1/3 pressing the ave. /ev button?
damn the more i type the dumber i feel, so please forgive me
how do i find the shutter speed on the meter as well as the frame rate on the meter, i'm now confused cause on the LCD of the meter theres an "F/S" and F does one mean foot candles or feet and the other mean frame speed
i been using the meter out over a year but i'm feeling now i dont know how to use it
If using a DV camera that has fps and shutter angles, Select a meter fps that mirrors the camera setting. The default shutter angle is 180-degrees. The meter will be ambient light mode to allow this so simply pressing the measuring button will get the proper aperture number for this combination. If you roll the Jog Wheel clockwise you will see the fps numbers decline and the readout will switch over to T (time) for shutter speed selection.
You didn’t mention what camera you are using. If a DSLR like the Canon 5D MKII, you can select a few settings which encompass all camera settings. In the camera, you select 24P, 30P or 60P. A shutter speed is automatically selected for this.
Great! Saw this already on the Profoto-channel. But there's one thing, the name in the title should be Schofield. Despite that this video is very helpful, thanks.
