  • 163 "Evil Eyes" Had a buddy who flew with them in the 90's. Great helo but really old. When I flew as gunner the birds we had were as old as I was. Plates had a build date of 6/67! So if they are still flying they are over 40 yrs old but but still the best we had back then.

  • Please, to the pilot that is doing this interveiw, Just fly the damn thing and stop talking about stuff you don' understand. The Photo sensor mounted on the #3 tunnel cowling only takes a optical track of the blade such as lead and lag. Not vibration. That is the job of the Velo blocks mounted Fwd of the Fwd tranny fwd of the rear trust bearing. A separate vibration is connected to the 8520 gear for vibration at certain regimes of flight such as hover and 120knots. Chalk on a stick 1980's?

  • its a tandem rotor CH-46

  • my dad used to fly those in the navy. Didn't they get replaced by the Ch-47 chinook?

  • U.S. Army uses the CH-47 Chinook, the U.S. Navy uses the Sea Knight (CH-46). They're old and now are being replaced by the new V-22's.

  • oh! that is a pretty impressive aircraft! technology has come really far!

  • @theqman13 its the (little brother) same design But smaller

and its being replaced today by the MV-22 Osprey
