I was lucky enough to see Queen live, Zeppelin live, Bowie, Paul McCartney, some great American bands too, but never the Beach Boys. I would trade most of the experiences I had to just hear the BB in about 1969 or so. Brian is so incredible and ya, after 40+ years he isn't quite as perfect but he still beat the crap out of nearly anyone writing, singing, producing, and playing today. Thank God for Brian Wilson.
There are some performances you hear a pure beach boy sound, however his voice gets so pitchy at times and off key. I know he is older but thats not the issue he is paying for all those years on drugs and stress from family dying I guess
For those interested, listen to the making of Pet Sounds session with all the bed tracking, vocal stacks, etc. Brian, at the ripe age of 24, directs handfuls of top tier seasoned session musicians with the authority of a man twice his age. There was no George Martin to produce, no Lennon/McCartney joint partnership to help each other along if somebody got out of line...just Brian. Something to think about when assessing Brian Wilson in the R&R annals...
Thanks to whoever posted this i love the beach boys god bless them all and their fans, im only 22 and ive listened to them since i was 6 their truly one of the greatest ever
oops!! they are no longer called " The Beach Boys" It's now Brian Wilson and his band...thank god for the Wondermints. My brother is one of them... Love you little brother.
Great stuff. I love the altered key they play it in nowadays, makes it sound slightly sinister! :) But still wonderful.

His greatest song. So technically perfect in its studio version, that nothing compares from that time period, except for The Beatles, of course.

Man, Brian Wilson really legitimately burned out those years ago. His brain has been cooked ever since. Still has his legacy though.
