  • yeah it looks kinda northern with the long extensions in the thrusts and the opening looks cool, very relaxed with the staff on your shoulder like that. But its clearly southern looking at footwork and grounding, just looks unusual to me :) I do left forward 18 Staffs of Luohan, also southern.

  • id agree horse stance is the foundation of any good shaolin martial artist. but good job id advise more force aswell

  • Whats so good about horse stance? isnt it physically taxing to keep up? in a real fight would you handicap youself?!

  • a good base is a huge key in a real fight i.e. a form of the horse stance.

  • That was pretty good. What is the specific name of the set? My one beef with it is that his horse should be more stable when he swings the staff. A stronger sitting posistion could easily help that. Nice job

  • Would like to see the form done at full speed in maybe another video...but sill looks great!

  • It looks vaguely familiar to the northern form I learned. This one is more rooted, although that isn't a surprise considering it's a southern form. Very impressive.

  • Thank you for the comment. What is the name of the Northern Shaolin form that you learned? Is it done with the right or left hand in front?

  • Hi Pinkman. Yes, it's a Southern Shaolin form. It is relatively unknown because it was a secret set, but it is still one of the 4 most prestigious staff sets: 1) Fifth Brother Eight Trigram Staff; 2) Six-and-a-Half Point Staff; 3) Left-Handed Fisherman Staff; 4) Flowing Water Staff.

  • that form looks like a southren style staff form
