@HurtzBand Lol ! :) they're idiots... fishes r like vegetables.. :/.. Also, I love this song one of the best from the album.. it's so raw and true. All of Nirvana songs have the best lyrics.

never realised how deep this band were since recently. Before I had only heard smells like teen spirit which i now know really didn't represent what Nivarna were about from watching the bbc4 documentary on nirvana. Can't explain how far they've gone up the list now!
@MrAdamSavage me too, I saw the live paramount footage from 1991 for Nevermind bbc four - shame I missed the documentry & it's not online :/... that was the first time I really interested me in this band.. I knew about them before, but didn't truly appreciate their art until now.
he probably meant that the amount of media attention that was placed on kurt is comparative to what hes going through. I dont think he meant to compare kurts music to his own
@TOTALIAN7426 Actually, that Justin Bieber quote is fake. Just a rumor. No one has ever been able to provide a source for it. Try to find one yourself, you'll see.
@TOTALIAN7426 Could you direct me to, say, a picture of the quote in the article? Because I can't find one, and from what I've found, the Justin-Cobain quote was first brought up on a Justin Bieber website that only printed satirical articles about him.
@DeStekky It's because it's a song written by a man who suffered from true depression. For anyone that's been there, it hits ou on a visceral level. When my moods fluctuate and I can feel myself slipping into anhedonia, I listen to this and a myriad of pink floyd songs to make me feel something. I can't tell what's worse, suicidal depressions or the inability to feel nothing thanks to court ordered lithium carbonate.
I listen to this song every night before i go to bed. Its so calm and hes singing so softly that it helps me sleep. It kinda clears my mind too. Idk i listen to this song for a lot of different reasons. So much meaning to it.
If you watch the making of video, the engineer talks about how they couldn't get it right, and the Kurt starts singing it in the control room barely above a whisper and that was the take.
@steveboy20028 you fail too. the lyrics are "and i'm living off of grass and the drippings from the ceiling" meaning that he had nothing to eat so he ate grass and the only water he could drink was dripping off the ceiling of where he lived ("underneath the bridge")
@crazygenius50 lol, he didn't literally mean he ate grass dude, he was just telling you the depth of his poorness. Familys gave him a place to stay but he didn't want to stay there, but I gurantee you that if you are starving and people are giving you food and a place to stay you are going to eat there and not grass, no matter how cool or starry Kurt was.
Kurt Cobain lived underneath a bridge when he was kicked out of his house as a teen. He felt very alone when he was teen. He did all that work to get his music heard and in the end his fame made him alone again. He did all that work just to become alone again... very sad
When people say " Nirvana sucks" or " i'm glad Kurt Cobian committed suicide" i flip on them and put them into the hospital, R.I.P. Kurt we all miss you
i want this song played at my funeral right after they play suffokate slaughter your enemys i want my mourners to mosh and celebrate fuck the depressing shit except this song lol
What is with this "true Nirvana fan" stuff? So many people hate "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Come as You Are" just because they are popular. Not all popular songs are bad, it is just that a lot of bad songs are popular.
A "true Nirvana fan" is a person who likes Nirvana.
@FutFraggle i agree... but i have used the phrase "true nirvana fan" because there are people who like to call themselves nirvana fans to look cool... but have not experienced their music as a whole in its entirety and have only listened to "smells like teen spirit" ...... its like saying your a van gogh fan but you have only seen The Starry Night... which is a childrens doodle compared to his other work.

I live in aberdeen, and yeah there are alot of drug users but that's not the only thing in this town, you guys can say all the shit you want but he's just like any other rockstar that came out of, fucking who knows where? music is music no matter the background. Also im high.
@skateordiepat actually just the gulf war, seeing the gulf war was two operations. the movie takes place for most operation desert shield to protect saudia arabia, then went to operation desert storm but the actual fighting only lasted 24hours.

Apparently the song was thought of as young people (or anyone) not knowing their place in the world, and in a way lost in society...
I think the album was successful overall as the lyrics were meaningful to everyone and anyone ; people can really relate to the songs.
Also, not about Cobain living under a bridge... maybe it's just a metaphor xD ?!
