I find it absolutely hilarious that Tommy LJ is advertising coffee over here. Its like Bill Murray with Suntory whiskey in Lost in Translation! The commercials are hilarious too!
for japanese people, tommy lee looks like ordinary business men drinking japanese liqour in a bar. they are called "ojisan" . he doesn't look ,,,gan-ho-macho type of person for us. that is big difference from a image of him your people has in your country...I think.
Those coffee adds he is in don't really fit his image. There used to be more of them around selling stuff. I saw a Kirin Beer ad with Harrison Ford years ago, he was drinking coffee with some woman in her garden, like that would ever happen. Of course there are still many around, but I do think it has decreased somewhat.
True...when I think Tommy lee, I picture a U.S. Marshall chasing someone through a storm sewer....someone like Harrison Ford! The coffee ads are amusing, but seeing his mug on vending machines is a little odd for me!
I heard because of sites like Youtube , it's starting to kill the Hollywood celebs coming over here to make a quick buck. I've seen quite a few in my time here.
I suppose everywhere you go you see Hollywood celebs advertising things you wouldn't expect. Just yesterday i saw a huge Meg Ryan ad for Nescafe coffee.
Even in Okinawa these machines are all over the place.
