Or, an even better example: Doom. 2D objects/actors in a 3D enviroment. What yours is is a 3D sidescroller, like Play Station's Contra,
@omegasignas That doesn't make it 2.5d, that's just inefficient use of the 3D character in a 3D environment. 2.5D is reference to isometric engines and the order and shape, a square turned diamond, array of tiles for loading the sprites on are rendered by the Z buffer to give the illusion, using isometrically drawn sprites, that it's a 3D environment. Its how an environment is rendered that determines its dimensions, not how you decide to use the environment, that doesnt change the fact it's 3d.
@jackalsocoke Im going by the dev's version of 2.5d, eg Megaman X7, ultimate ghosts n goblins, dracula X chronicles, their all 3d games, but in the 2d sidescrolling fashion

@Tsukiyomaru0 2.5D means the game is rendered in 3D, but plays like its 2D. Eg. Shadow Complex.

Konami did actually create a 2.5D version of Rondo of Blood which utilizes 3D graphics and classic 2D gameplay.

Most of them are *Shooters* only which is fine to an extent. However this would still make a great game on the DC or the PC.
