I've seen this happen only once...as a teenager, the boat was winched up & the last cinch of the winch snapped the line, the boat ran down the trailer back into the water un-tethered. There was a cross-wind so one of us had to swim for it, before it ran aground several yards down-wind.
is this salt or fresh water ... don't matter ... always keep the trailer up to par just as the boat ... wash the trailer and boat after every trip ...

@holyinator The winch broke off that holds the boat on the trailer so in part 2 they tied it up so it wouldnt fall back into the water.

looks like he had the winch way to tight because the boat jumped up after it broke. Cant tighten them over tight or this happens everytime.
