Recently though they have changed the way the make and play music; hence, if you listen to Brothers and compare it to other albums you'll notice a MAJOR difference. Like no longer are all of the songs begun with a guitar intro and blues riffs, they now incorporate other instruments. I've listened to Dan and Pat enough to know they aren't indie, especially knowing Danger Mouse produces their music.

I hope they hold onto this sound despite hitting the mainstream. I've been listening to them for years, and I love every album. You should listen to Dan Auerbach's solo album, Keep It Hid. @winehouseisgreat I think they like blues music so their own music is heavily influenced. I dance blues at an alternative venue every once in a while and The Black Keys are very popular there. So I suppose they are an alternative sort of indie version of blues :)
