My son is severely autistic and fortunately diagnosed very early when we pushed for specialists to look into his developmental issues. He has gone from being diagnosed as non verbal at the age of 4 to a bright, enthusiastic and polite child who, although he struggles to cope with some things in this world, has shown immense aptitude in reading and mathematics. This story is inspirational and I hope that one day I will be able to show it to him so he can see that there are limitless possibilities

It was hard for them back in the days to get any type of help or info on Autism, but they managed to find the appropriate resources. They were very patient, and tried to make me understand things that for "Normal" people would just be a given. I used to not talk at all, and was slow on learning some things. Without them, I would have been a different person. Not dumb. Just different.
And I'm not too shabby at Basketball either haha. I just know where to aim the ball at. Generally goes in from anywhere. As long as I can see the board. Autists are frequently mathematical wizards.
