@weschevy98 There is a rare case of a ferret living fifteen years now and then, but usually not that long. If one makes it to 9 years, he's had a long life.
i have the ferret nation to, and i only have 2 ferrets in it. i think its fine, because it gives them alot of space to play and burnoff energy, and theres still space for other ferrets :)
im planning to get me my own ferret this coming spring, i just wanna ask you guys something about the room temperature for the ferrets cage to be at? should the room be warm or cold in what fahrenheit should it be? thanks guys
@hemodes anything between 4 to 18 degrees celcius (sorry I don't know in farenheit) :S lol They do not stand warm temperatures and they are prone to heatstroke.
OHHH i reallllly want to get one now! do they take up much room? and are they a hassle to take care of? are they nocturnal! i am determined to get one! are they friendly also to a dog?
no they don't take up much room, they can be very curious around ur house so make sure u ferret proof ur house, they are not nocturnal, the sleep for 18 hours and adjust to ur life style, if u socialize ur pets enough the ferret will love to play with ur dog
this woman is wrong keep ur ferret healthy and alive and u can keep them outside with lots of bedding to keep them warm so most of u dont know a lot about ferrets
I would advise not to, if you have a REALLY good brand then you might just want to double check with a vet, but the best would be to buy special ferret dry fodder. To my knowledge this is a little more expensive then cat or dog food but really the only thing that will work.
And a precondition; don't feed ferrets high sugar stuff like raisins very often, it can be a good treat but will hurt the ferrets health if given to often... A big No No!
I just bought dry ferret food for my 2 month old ferret... so should I add water to the food because it seems really solid/hard... I only had him for a couple of days so any information will help
Well that depends. Fist and foremost, I am in no way a valid expert on these animals but...
When dogs and cats are young you ad water to soften the dry food so it's easier for them to bit through.
I would check on whether or not your ferrets adult teeth has come out yet or ask a vet.
I would imagine that the ferrets don't yet have its adult teeth so start with dry food and water. But really the only way to be certain is to check with a vet and get a professional opinion.
i want a ferret but my Great aunt hates animals and im trying to persuade her but she keeps changing the subject or comes up with a lame excuse! i even tried starting with a fish but she says it takes up so much time.
And u dont really need to go to the vet anually i just sent my 2 ferrets to the vet for their really important ones and they are very healthy even @ 2 yrs although they caught a mild cough.but this only works if u keep them inside.
absolutely, mine loves to be around me. if im in the house and he doesnt see me for a few minutes he'll come lookin for me and lay down with his head on my feet. they are very affectionate if you raise them with affection
This is all true. I had 2 ferret (before they got stolen) they are very playful when not sleeping and its abuse to keep them locked up.. no i dont know about the play pen.. I just have locked cabnets and my ferrets dont chew on wires.. and I dont own a rocking chair.. So naww you dont need a baby pin.. just make sure to look down when you walk in and out of the house so no weasel attempts an escape.
ALSO PEOPLE FERRETS POOP A LOT AND THEIR FUR SMELLS LIKE MUSK EVEN WHEN DECENTED.
I'm sorry, but I can't take this women seriously. She sounds so totally unconfidant and just generally unsure. It's also very distracting that she's playing with the ferret. Too many "uhs", learn to present your ideas correctly please.
Though yes it is true that they are very prone to terminal illness when they are older - used to be around five and six, but more and more we are seeing ferrets get diagnosed with terminal illness around three or four years old. ESPECIALLY adrenal disease which by now has to be the #1 ferret disease in the US bar none.
Pretty good video, but 60% of ferrets do not come down with a terminal illness by the age of TWO. I've had a total of ten ferrets, ONE of whom became terminally ill by the age of two (he passed away at one and a half).
Plz get better camera.

@plptypscp One learned the potty place instantly, permanently the first time I showed him. Another took a year before she finally figured it out.

How much do their vaccinations cost?
Iive in new york
ericrules95 2 years ago
Most of the time ferrets get illnesses only because the owner treats them badly.
Just make sure you wash hands, and if you want to, shower before and after playing with it.
Common Colds can be very dangerous to them.
And 200 dollar cages?
I bought a 6 foot tall one for 100 bucks.
