hey bro nice vid, i have a kinetik aswell but i wanna take my buddys kinetik off his hands there both no more than a year old. will one drain the other? there both diffrent sizes
so just ground the 2nd battery then get one power wire with a fuse on it as if it was for an amp to the original battery and then another power wire from 2nd battery with another fuse to the amp? and if i need an 80 amp fuse for my amp would i put and 80 amp fuse on both power wires or just a 40 on each one or would either way work?
Okay. front Pos to rear Pos. two fuses inbetween front and rear. then you ground your rear battery and thats that ? then you put a fuse from your rear battery to your amp. do you need to ground your amp also ? or can you run it to the negative term on the rear battery ? i just got an optima yellow top and im planning on running my 2000 watt amp and 15 off it. Please help. thank ya
so u have to connect both negative terminals of the two batteries to have them operate correctely?? or can you just ground the second battery and connect just the postive terminals of the two batteries?? please help. thanks
@coled7lan yeah caps are pointless. but crossovers save your tweeters. tweeters are meant for high frequencies only and any bass can blow them and distort them the crossover cuts out the lows to protect your tweeters.
@carlos415 caps do nothing unless the alternator is putting out more Amps then you system is drawing, I would just get a high output alternator but if you can't get one for the car then a second battery is the way to go
Ok I did the same thing but the fuse between my amp and battery melted y u think it did that check out my YouTube page tell me what u think happen thanks
So in other words you can compare the fact of one of the battery's being dead to Two people on a tandem bicycle and only one of them is peddling, eventually the guy peddling will over work him self and completely just die.haha i love my brain
would it be alright if I ground the second battery in the back instead of running it to the main battery under the hood or would it be better if I ran it to the main battery juz like what i'ma do with the positive 0 guage wire
hey i want to install a 2nd batt but people say i should get a cap better,,what do u think? i have 2 kicker l7 12" and a kicker 2500.1...stock alt and stock front batt...should i get a kinetik 2400? or a cap? please repond
so when this 2nd battery is installed....is it possible(asking) for this 2nd battery to start your vehicle engine even though you disconnect the 1st battery terminals?
so when this 2nd battery is installed....is it possible(asking) for this 2nd battery to start your vehicle engine even though you disconnect the 1st battery terminals?
The thing is, people get confused in the real purpose of a cap. A cap is not used to, cure or prevent dimming lights, change the way the system sounds or save the battery/alternator (all are misconceptions).
To undertsand the purpose you need to understand how they work.
A cap does it's best to keep the voltage at a certain level, but if the voltage changes so will the cap voltage. The cap just makes the change smoother.
I'm planning on doing this soon as I get the extra money. I just got an amp in my car and I'm having some issues with the lights dimming, I will also be doing the big 3 upgrade at the same time as well and will be getting a battery isolator. The only question I have is what size fuse do you recommend using on each battery to fuse them in case of a short so there is no problem?
quick question, does having two batteries put alot of stress on your alternator and do you think having an isolator and relay will/would change that? thanks
@Angelboy863 if both batteries are kept charged it shouldn't put too much more strain on your alternator. having an isolator might help if you plan on running your system with the car off because then you only have one battery that is charging off the other battery and the alternator instead of 2 dead batteries
i want to put another battery in the back of my car, I bought a optima yellow top battery, but in the front there is a normal acid battery. would that make a problem? (the acid battery draining the yellow top one???) please help
@pcgamergod When you wire 2 batteries in parallel, the voltage will equalize due to potential differences and the internal resistances. Your batteries may cause each-other to heat up. The best bet is to get identical batteries. You may want to just use a capacitor. Capacitors have very low "ESR", equivalent series resistance. This means that they can provide a huge amount of current very quickly. Batteries can't due to their fairly large resistance.
@6476Mike if you wire 2 batts in series yes you will get 24v which may cause some of the electronics in your car to catch fire. and the more batteries you wire together the higher the voltage will get so if you wire 5 12v batts in series you will get 60v.
@ThatsGlory 1500 rms amp would be pulling about 125A at 12v. most cars when running are like 13-14v but even at 14v you would be pulling 108A so unless you have a big alt that could handle all that i would get a sec or even a 3rd battery
Should I use a battery isolator so the alternator will charge both batteries? I'm afraid when my battery in the trunk drains in will drain my main battery.
@DrEwBaBy625 If you have the batteries wired in parallel won't that put a lot more strain on the alternator since it's powering pretty much twice as much batteries?
@Po0rEmerica how much extra drain would it take? like one alternator without a system should run at around 14 amps what would one with a system and two batteries run at?
@fennygolf don't act like u kno shit, I did sum research and looked at the smh forums and ask steave meade & EXO, they both said u shud for the same reasons he did. If u don't kno them then don't act big, itz not no filing wiring skill, itz protecting ur system and car from harm. If ur so good at wiring, run no fuse and record it and show us wut happens.
@fennygolf the size of the fuse depends on the wire size. if you put a 200A fuse on some 8 gauge and over draw it the wire will catch fire before the fuse pops
@DrEwBaBy625 with 0/1 cable 2 90s would be fine im putting 2 fuses in my car also 1 between the alt and battery and 1 between the battery and amp if u trust your wiring skills then u wouldnt have to double fuse your wire not judging your skills or anyhting
@DrEwBaBy625 hey um i hooking up a kinetik hc 800 and am using 4 gauge wire what 2 fuses do i use and i lisen 2 my music when my truck is turned off some times so should i buy a isolater and if so how many amps i can get a 500 amp for 60 is that 2 much or do i need a bigger on or a smaller one my amp is 1800w but my subs to gether a 2500w and im ussing a 300w for mids and highs

i already have one of these subs hooked up and it can barely handle the power on that one sub so i need another battery any ideas on what battery at a reasonable price?"
@DrEwBaBy625 alright thanks, i got one more questions im getting mixed opimions about this but if i wanted to run 2 1000 watt amps would i need a new battery, compacitor, or what would be easiest because i would think there would begin to be voltage drop.
@anaelisem2000 depends on you voltage drop. if your still getting a lot of drop yeah you should but if not then should be fine. i didnt upgrade mine and its all doing fine
Ya today i just hooked up dual batteries. I used a relay or aka solenoid, at lordco was only 25 bucks. So I have my entire stereo plugged into the rear battery, also down the lines i wanna run fog lamps or a computer ill run it off the rear battery.
could you also ground your wire from the amp to the 2nd battery in the back and I know that the power wire goes from the positive terminal in the back to the battery in the front and the power wire from your amplifier also go 2 the positive terminal on the 2nd battery in the back... But could you add a 3rd power wire from the positive terminal on the second battery in the back to the alternator positve charge so it will charge the battery in the back and another one from the battery in the
@deathofwynter only thing you need an isolator for is if you like to listen to music with your car off. the isolator allows you to kill one battery and keep the other one charged that way you can stillstart the car off the good battery then after its started the isolator allows the dead battery to be charged
ok my friend if my amplfier is 5000w but in characteristics say 2x60 amps. my question is can conecet 3 fuses of 200a for de firts baterry to second baterry and also to de second battery to my amplifier ? cus my total rms is 2000w rms
@luisin321123 your fuse size has nothing to do with the size of your amp. you want to rate the fuse with your wire size. so you need to decide what size wire your going to go with. an amp that big i would go with at least 2 gauge if not bigger for 2 gauge you need a 150A fuse if you go with 1/0gauge wire its a 200A fuse
@DrEwBaBy625 aa ok so I decided use 0 gauge wire thanks my friend. If my alternator has 130A is necessary put another of 200A for my 2000rms or can I use this 130A?
@DrEwBaBy625 ok then I will install my big 3 with 0 gauge wire to my alternator 130A, I will also install a second battery. my last question. is that I have to put a 250A fuse on my alternator to my battery? and 200A fuse between the 2 batteries? I really appreciate your help.
@luisin321123 if your running all 0 gauge then they all have to be 200A . the fuse is what protects your wire so if you put in too big of a fuse and theres a short the wire would burn up and catch fire before the fuse pops
say i have a car with a 5000w amp, and im looking to installing another battery for more power to my 15s, would this way help for getting more power and not draining my car battery as fast?
say i have a car with a 5000w amp, and im looking to installing another battery for more power to my 15s, would this way help for getting more power and not draining my car battery as fast?
so the second battery power wire connects to the one you have under the hood and than you take the ground wire from the second battery and ground it to the frame of the car? But than where will you connect the power wire from the amplifer
@DrEwBaBy625 so than on one batter will have 2 power wires connected to the power terminal correct.. and will that give the system more power when you add as second battery and than do the big 3 upgrade to get higher voltage
@zechariahtheking yes the one battery will have a line coming in and one going to the amp. this will help increase the amperage your cars power system can put out but it wont change the voltage at all. doing the big 3 will give you 1 or 2 volts. i did it to mine and it got me up to like 14.3v. but the second battery is kinda like a capacitor but better. just make sure you run big enough wires to the second battery
@DrEwBaBy625 thank you a whole lot... and ya I'm going 2 run 0 guage 2 the battery and for the big 3 upgrade thank you a whole lot I really appreciate it
Have you had any issues with the different types of batteries? From what i hear they can work against eachother and eventually crap em both out. Just wondering whats your experiance.
sir in my place philippines the only alternator i can find is 50 amps only... can i wire my 2 batteries with 50 amps alternator? i need ur help.. can we be friends? i ned ur idea.. tnx
@outsidersaudioworx you could always run 2 50A alts but im not sure that it would be a problem to run 2 batts on a 50A alt. i think my alt is only a 70A
@TRXfiend it would be installed in series with your power wire that goes between the batteries. an isolator is just like a big relay so all it does is disconnect power between them
so your sayin that i need to connect (+,+) and (-,g)... i was thinking to get and extra cable from the alternator to the battery so i can keep it charged. can i do it or i cant?
@floridaboys13 it seems kinda pointless since the line connecting your 2 + terminals is already a charge line. but if you want to go all out go ahead it might improve your performance a bit! are you running a stock alt?
@floridaboys13 it wont go dead if you have a wire going from the stock battery to your second battery. this wire is also your charge line so as long as it a pretty good size wire than youll be fine. but if you only run like an 8 gauge charge line. it will only be able to draw so much from your alt/ stock batt so it will drain your secondary batt more than your stock one then when your car is off the stock one will charge the secondary one and could kill them.
@elc0n its just a stock alt. im not even sure what it is. i dont usually listen to music with the truck off so i never drain the batts but im sure that over time that could kill your alt. but whats so bad about that? then you get to upgrade!
hey bro nice vid, i have a kinetik aswell but i wanna take my buddys kinetik off his hands there both no more than a year old. will one drain the other? there both diffrent sizes

@tonysalsa100 no problem bro anytime
zechariahtheking 1 year ago
could you also ground your wire from the amp to the 2nd battery in the back and I know that the power wire goes from the positive terminal in the back to the battery in the front and the power wire from your amplifier also go 2 the positive terminal on the 2nd battery in the back... But could you add a 3rd power wire from the positive terminal on the second battery in the back to the alternator positve charge so it will charge the battery in the back and another one from the battery in the
zechariahtheking 1 year ago
where is your battery isolator??? I was told you have to have one when you put a second battery in for car audio.
deathofwynter 1 year ago
@deathofwynter only thing you need an isolator for is if you like to listen to music with your car off. the isolator allows you to kill one battery and keep the other one charged that way you can stillstart the car off the good battery then after its started the isolator allows the dead battery to be charged

ok my friend if my amplfier is 5000w but in characteristics say 2x60 amps. my question is can conecet 3 fuses of 200a for de firts baterry to second baterry and also to de second battery to my amplifier ? cus my total rms is 2000w rms
luisin321123 1 year ago
@luisin321123 your fuse size has nothing to do with the size of your amp. you want to rate the fuse with your wire size. so you need to decide what size wire your going to go with. an amp that big i would go with at least 2 gauge if not bigger for 2 gauge you need a 150A fuse if you go with 1/0gauge wire its a 200A fuse
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
@DrEwBaBy625 aa ok so I decided use 0 gauge wire thanks my friend. If my alternator has 130A is necessary put another of 200A for my 2000rms or can I use this 130A?
luisin321123 1 year ago
@luisin321123 you should be fine with the stock alt ive been running the stock alt on mine and havent had any problems.
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
@DrEwBaBy625 ok then I will install my big 3 with 0 gauge wire to my alternator 130A, I will also install a second battery. my last question. is that I have to put a 250A fuse on my alternator to my battery? and 200A fuse between the 2 batteries? I really appreciate your help.
luisin321123 1 year ago
@luisin321123 if your running all 0 gauge then they all have to be 200A . the fuse is what protects your wire so if you put in too big of a fuse and theres a short the wire would burn up and catch fire before the fuse pops
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
@DrEwBaBy625
so my alternator is 90 amps, i did my big 3 in o gauge... do i still use a 200 amp fuse? if it shorts wont it fry any way cuz the fuze is too big?

so the second battery power wire connects to the one you have under the hood and than you take the ground wire from the second battery and ground it to the frame of the car? But than where will you connect the power wire from the amplifer
zechariahtheking 1 year ago
@zechariahtheking you can hook it to which ever battery is closest
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
@DrEwBaBy625 so than on one batter will have 2 power wires connected to the power terminal correct.. and will that give the system more power when you add as second battery and than do the big 3 upgrade to get higher voltage
zechariahtheking 1 year ago
@zechariahtheking yes the one battery will have a line coming in and one going to the amp. this will help increase the amperage your cars power system can put out but it wont change the voltage at all. doing the big 3 will give you 1 or 2 volts. i did it to mine and it got me up to like 14.3v. but the second battery is kinda like a capacitor but better. just make sure you run big enough wires to the second battery
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
@DrEwBaBy625 thank you a whole lot... and ya I'm going 2 run 0 guage 2 the battery and for the big 3 upgrade thank you a whole lot I really appreciate it
zechariahtheking 1 year ago
hey where did you get the fuses at? and the wires?
ExGhost19 1 year ago
@ExGhost19 ebay. i bought a 2gauge wiring kit it came with one fuse and fuse block so i had to order another fuse block and fuse

Have you had any issues with the different types of batteries? From what i hear they can work against eachother and eventually crap em both out. Just wondering whats your experiance.

sir in my place philippines the only alternator i can find is 50 amps only... can i wire my 2 batteries with 50 amps alternator? i need ur help.. can we be friends? i ned ur idea.. tnx
outsidersaudioworx 1 year ago
@outsidersaudioworx you could always run 2 50A alts but im not sure that it would be a problem to run 2 batts on a 50A alt. i think my alt is only a 70A
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
helo, can i wire my capacitor parallel directly to my battery?
outsidersaudioworx 1 year ago
@outsidersaudioworx yep! you wire caps and batts the same you just dont need the second fuse with a cap

good vid, how do you do the isolator so you can crank beats when it's not running? cheers dan.
TRXfiend 1 year ago
@TRXfiend it would be installed in series with your power wire that goes between the batteries. an isolator is just like a big relay so all it does is disconnect power between them
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
thanks alot u tight me well master lol i will inform you when im installin my batteries if anything goes wrong

so your sayin that i need to connect (+,+) and (-,g)... i was thinking to get and extra cable from the alternator to the battery so i can keep it charged. can i do it or i cant?
floridaboys13 1 year ago
@floridaboys13 like doing the big 3??
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
@DrEwBaBy625 well kinda but can i run the wired to the batt right???!!!
floridaboys13 1 year ago
@floridaboys13 the second batt?
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
@DrEwBaBy625 yes
floridaboys13 1 year ago
@floridaboys13 it seems kinda pointless since the line connecting your 2 + terminals is already a charge line. but if you want to go all out go ahead it might improve your performance a bit! are you running a stock alt?
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@DrEwBaBy625 yep..
floridaboys13 1 year ago
@DrEwBaBy625 but the thing is that i dont want my batt to go death??
floridaboys13 1 year ago
@floridaboys13 it wont go dead if you have a wire going from the stock battery to your second battery. this wire is also your charge line so as long as it a pretty good size wire than youll be fine. but if you only run like an 8 gauge charge line. it will only be able to draw so much from your alt/ stock batt so it will drain your secondary batt more than your stock one then when your car is off the stock one will charge the secondary one and could kill them.
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
@DrEwBaBy625 ok so like what size should i get like 4 gauge or what..
floridaboys13 1 year ago
@floridaboys13 the bigger the better! id say bigger than 4 gauge!
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
@DrEwBaBy625 ok . but like do you know like how much thats gonna cost me??? the cable?
floridaboys13 1 year ago
@floridaboys13 i got a kit on ebay. it was like $55 and came with ring terminals fuse block and everything

@floridaboys13 alright just remember its cheaper to do it right the first time
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
@floridaboys13 i have 2 gauge on mine and the secondary one and could kill them.
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
how big is your alternator? And if you drain the 2 battery often whont that kill your alternator after a while?
elc0n 1 year ago
@elc0n its just a stock alt. im not even sure what it is. i dont usually listen to music with the truck off so i never drain the batts but im sure that over time that could kill your alt. but whats so bad about that? then you get to upgrade!
DrEwBaBy625 1 year ago
thanx man so much help. I already wired my battery but i didnt have fuses inbetween them and didnt know why i needed one
