Spot on kpls72 - this is a much later take of the song. Problem with artists like Frankie is that, because they had such long careers, they changed recording companies a few times and had to re-record their classics because their previous labels owned the rights to the originals. This is still quite a decent version though.
@szatter123 LOL, look very closely and you will see that both her feet are crisscrossed in the photo, not one elongated foot...thanks for your comments...Lanny (Nocaro)
This is NOT the original 1956 take. Oh, they try to imitate it, but if you heard the original 1956 45 rpm, you'd hear THE VOICE. By the time this remake was done, the power had faded, hence the phrasing was more broken.
@kpls72 Absolutely true. The same goes for Laine's 1956/7 version of "That Lucky Old Sun," which the 1949 version (although good) cannot compare to. As good a number 1 song as there will ever be.
I remember seeing a Mel Brooks interview where he said he hired Frankie Laine to sing the theme song to his cowboy spoof Blazing Sadles...only Frankie didn't realize that it was a spoof. Mel said that he felt kinda bad because Frankie sang his heart out but the song came out fantastic !
Great old song... and put to a wonderful, video! GOOD JOB!!!! Thumbs up!
