  • It looks like a well. Is there a kitty down that well?

  • Can this be done with natural gas? just place a gas ring in the center of the bowl?

  • Would it be stable without mortar?

  • Actually, this is pretty easy and cheap. Looks nice.

  • Don't mix the ashes with compost or in the garden bed. Too alkaline.

  • I built one of these for my back yard this past summer. Make sure you check your local county ordinances and build to spec. If not, you running the risk of getting a visit from the fire marshall and quite possibly a fine. Oh, and have a fire extinguisher handy too just in case a fire gets out of control or, someone sits too close and sparks up.

  • Home Depot has them, Pavestone. 1.80 each. You can also by at surplus stores (residual scrap) there are ones in some towns from Habitat for Humanity.

  • this is complete over kill...a simple ring of rocks is all you need for a fire pit

  • These blocks where on sale this last Veterans weekend. About $2 each. I found I needed 17 per row, rather than the 16 per row you used. Either way, I am very pleased with the results. Thank you!

  • People let the neighbors live the life!! 🔥🔥✨

  • How do you keep standing water out of your fire pit?

  • @dylandietrichify

If you want ot keep standing water out of your pit then you need to leave the center of the pit unpaved. (unlike shown in this video). Then dig out the opening about 6-8 inches. Refill the area with 3-4 inches of drainage rock and 3-4 inches of fill dirt. The pit will then be able to drain the water properly.

  • how much does this cost ????

  • @lynlee013 Good question, all the parts except the steel fire bowl would cost less than $200. However, the steel bowls come in a wide variety and cost changes significantly.

  • @lynlee013 by the time you spend the time and money building one of these you could purchase a nice portable fire pit from an online retailer for much less.

  • Ha lol im only 13

  • why am i watching this im 14!

  • What can i do about the smoke going into my neighbours yards ?

  • @nate18871 Bake them lots of cookies!

  • Im doing this!!!

  • I think this is great for a disabled person with a new home. I will let lowes to come and do this for me! And I am American!!!!!!

  • Americans talk too much!

  • @sin47s Non Americans complain to much.

  • Honestly. This weenie thing should come with candles and flowers.

  • I am from the UK where can I get the materials

  • great thanks for the easy info

  • This guys voice is depressing.

  • Dry connecting the bricks...? Really? That seems fragile... What if I want to secure them more permanently, is there some kind of mortar I can use?

  • @Balgore8 - you could use construction adhesive or mortar / thinset.

  • @Balgore8 You could, but it would take quite a lot to knock something like this over. Not using mortar also allows you to move it if you ever want to.

  • @Balgore8 standard mortar mix (green bags) are your best bet.

  • @Stallex hahah..for sure!

  • @5tonyvvvv dig out the inside of the circle of rocks 2 it helps

  • look this vid "The real carpentry ! (revised version)" and have fun ^^

  • What's wrong with a steel drum.

  • he should have used Galvacore.

  • They failed to state the diamitor of the fire bowl. It's hard to believe that the bricks didn't need to be cut.

  • @wsoxman A 35" Firepit fits right in a circle of 17 blocks. Its an easy project and it looks great.

  • why put a lid on fire?

  • @TheCyoruk so the ash and other debris that may pop from the firewood doesn't kill you or set anything on fire

  • @TheCyoruk it prohibits sparks from flying off into your surroundings and setting fire elsewhere.

  • what in the dam heck do ya need to build this for, i just lite a fire wherever i wants in the yard N use some rocks round the out side if i wanna get fancy

  • @tosgem i guess that is the standard Alabama Method. but if your house cost more than 15,000$ you like the appeal of nice things.

  • @erichitz79 @tosgem damn...

  • whats the point of the fire block?

  • The point of mentioning the fireproof block was if you were not going to use the metal tray, and use it for an open fire pit. The fireproof block would keep the outer block from heating to a very high temp and or possibly damaging the outer stone long term. If you were going to use the metal tray. then the fireproof block is not needed.

  • Thanks, I wanted something that looked more permanant than a table firepit. it is a bit late now but we can see the city's fireworks from our backyard on the Fourth of July and NewYears and a firepit would be such a great way to spend the night.

  • Stumbled upon the howto video and this is a nice idea instead of just putting the firepit alone. Thanks.

  • You do not need the fire block.

  • I checked with my local Lowes and they don't have those stones either. Kinda lame to put it on your webpage when you don't even carry the product you are pushing.

  • @phil74501 I know you responded a year ago, but I was thinking the same thing. Then I found them in the garden section. Lowes has a very different catagorizing system than Home Depot, LOL!

  • thank you for uploading this.. i was trying to think of a good fire pit to build

  • I can't find the stones used to build the fire pit wall at any nearby Lowe's. Any other suggestions for stones?

  • @WafflePower go to lowes web page and search "Unbranded 9" Tan/Brown Countryside Wall" the stones are about $3 each

  • thats cool

  • can you post a link for the printable directions? I've searched the website over and over and I cannot find them. Thanks!

  • Does Lowes carry those fire proof blocks mentioned at 2:39?
