LOL I fixed my rrod by kicking my 360 I don't know what happend but it worked.. has that happend to anyone else yet and if it did please comment back to me
the xbox ones are taking air out of the console, and teh intercooler is taking the air in the console and there are blocking each other. And you shoulnd have anything additinalal that takes over the power plug because it takes energy of the console and console does not have enough energy so don't buy an intercooler. hope this helps. I know its a late anwser but anything is better than nothing
hey i know how u feel this just happened to me yesterday spent 2 hours on the phone with microsoft doing all kinds of trouble shooting now i have to wait at least a month to get a new one which sucks did they replace the 2nd one for you or did they charge u for it???
They replaced it, free of charge. Basically whenever you receive a replacement unit, that one is also warranted by the same three year limited warranty from the RRoD problem.
iterestingly the fella I spoke to told me I only had a 3 month warranty for my replacement for everything BUT the 3 red lights of death... my replacement dont play xbox games now & I hauch a nightmare getting it back & getting a replacemtn HDD that they stole (yes this was back in the day when they didnt tell you to take it aparet before posting) & to top it all the theif hacked into it & got my credit card number... never again...
happened to me today, not looking forward to the lengthly process to get a replacement. Plus its wasting time on my xbox live membership. Hopefully if i moan enough i might get some free stuff, worked with sky lol
This has nothing to do with the hard drive (my original hard drive still works fine, has all my data saved, etc.). This is a problem with the mainboard and the GPU heatsink.
I know it can be downloaded again, but I shouldn't have to call Microsoft support a second time just to enable it. What some users have had to do is even more tedious (literally waiting weeks for MS to credit their account with Live points and having to download it again with another gamertag).
mine just broke. it took 1,5 years to gather enough money, and six months ago, i bought it. And today, 19 february 2008, rrod. I can't find the damn paper to return it to the store! And the irony? i ordered yesterday bioshock. it should arrive tomorow or after.
BTW, fanboys suck. It took exactly one response for this to turn into "PS3 rulz." Well, most of the games I want to play right now aren't on PS3, they're on the 360 (and a lot of the ones I did want to play on PS3 are now coming to the 360 as well), so getting a PS3 isn't going to solve my problem. A working 360 will...
That's easy. It costs me nothing to send my 360 back and get it replaced. The PS3 would cost me $500. I'm glad you guys are made of money, but I've got more important things on my to-do list.
and than, it's gonna crap out again. and crap out again, and again, and again. That's what Microsoft does, and eventually, they want money for it. Ha.
If that's what it takes, but it won't cost me $500. I'll eventually get a PS3, but it's not in the budget, and it doesn't change the fact that a lot of the games I want to play are on the 360. Microsoft says they've fixed the problem, so I can only hope that's the case...
@viciousdave119 While I agree that it's ridiculous, just buying a PS3 hardly solves the issue. You see, I've had a 60GB PS3 all this time, and I still want the XBOX. The PS3 just doesn't have the games I want to play, end of story. It gets more use as a Bluray player than it does a gaming console. Sad, and I really wish that wasn't the case, but that's how it is.
If Microsoft doesn't ultimately do something to improve the situation, it might come to that, but between extending the warranty to three years and the new mainboard revision (needless to say, I'm really hoping that takes care of the problem), they've gone a long way in doing what they can in light of completely failing to thoroughly put the console through any kind of quality control. At this point, they're losing hand over fist, but then again, that's kind of what they deserve at the moment.

will a intercoller just prevent this from happening
1PAcouchpotato 3 years ago
From what I've heard, not really. The Intercooler really doesn't create enough airflow to alleviate the issue.

looks like its a ps3 for me........

intercoller blocks the both cooling systems.

It will probably take about a month, and they'll include a one-month LIVE Gold card, so you won't lose any of your membership time.
