@periesicsd: The problem with your argument is that if you take a car that handles well and then make another one exactly the same but with more power then the more powerful one will usually win so long as the brakes are sufficient.
The speed at which you can make it through a turn is irrelevant if you can brake later for it and power away from it faster.

This is nt showing the record run 2 show a record run u need inboard footage not a flyby shot. If u look at the veyron ss run ( the new fastest production car) it shows inboard footage with a speedo u can c erred that for the aero?

The same format used by the Veyron SS to confirm it's actual speed, and required to hold a record. Two runs are made, in opposite directions along the same track or road. The average of the two runs is the speed, to help eliminate any fluke caused by wind or track conditions. Why do you need an interior shot again? Speedometers get exponentially more inaccurate at higher speeds.
I still go for the ssc, they hold the record for over 3 years, and is only beaten by 13mph, besides according to Bugatti, Veyron Sport car, 30 to be built of which 5 will be capable of this top speed.

The SSC Aero's engine is based around the Corvette C5.R race engine, a motor that not only with stands the torture of the 24 Hours of Lemans, it's dominated it's class for several years. I doubt reliability is much an issue for a car that's designed to be much simpler, in comparison to the over-engineered Bugatti.
SSC does plan to beat it, as do many manufacturers including McLaren.

The Mini did set the standard for FWD compacts for years to come. It too, however, suffered from rust and electrical woes.

They are also accredited to the standard setup for the clutch/brake/gas and shifter arrangements. Magnetic shocks were developed mostly by Cadillac before the Germans used them as well. @jewlzorjay Quick googling puts Indian as the 1st bike with electric start, in 1914. Cadillac introduced them in 1912, so this would predate the bikes anyways.
The UK automakers failed for many reasons, in the US it was build quality and reliability. You can see BL's last attempt in the US with Sterling, a Honda! based sedan that flopped due to build problems. In the UK, they had all sorts of labor problems.
Also we have to remember some of the foolish buisness mistakes the british industry has made. Rover produced a record breaking eastate car in despte needing the publicity said nothing. Thats a shame because rover made some beautiful cars, my first car was a rover and i loved it.
I think the best hope Britian has now is to only design, badge and test cars within the UK. assemby will have to be done outside the UK for any real profit to be made now.

The US holds stricter standards for bumpers mainly, hence why most compact Euro cars are not easily sold here with out lots of work.

The speed at which you can make it through a turn is irrelevant if you can brake later for it and power away from it faster.

The same format used by the Veyron SS to confirm it's actual speed, and required to hold a record. Two runs are made, in opposite directions along the same track or road. The average of the two runs is the speed, to help eliminate any fluke caused by wind or track conditions. Why do you need an interior shot again? Speedometers get exponentially more inaccurate at higher speeds.

5 is probs the minimum that Bugatti need to for this new veyron to be considered a truely vallid production car. that 5 is probs the number that makes this record vallid. and bassed on some complex maths they have estimated that 5 in 30 can hit their advertised top speed ( not uncommon) in one or two cars may go faster.
Or it could be that 30 is the number that is ordered and only 5 have been ordered with the spec that makes it hit that magical mph.

The SSC Aero's engine is based around the Corvette C5.R race engine, a motor that not only with stands the torture of the 24 Hours of Lemans, it's dominated it's class for several years. I doubt reliability is much an issue for a car that's designed to be much simpler, in comparison to the over-engineered Bugatti.
SSC does plan to beat it, as do many manufacturers including McLaren.

@bmwnasher Depending who you ask, Renault and Lancaster invented them at the same time, in 1902. And the Mini was not a new idea. The VW "Beetle" was the original "everyman" car (hence the name). The Mini did set the standard for FWD compacts for years to come. It too, however, suffered from rust and electrical woes.
And that nasty Marina and a massive number of other BL cars failed to sell in the US due to their poor build quality and reliability.
The Germans were the only to survive the US

They are also accredited to the standard setup for the clutch/brake/gas and shifter arrangements. Magnetic shocks were developed mostly by Cadillac before the Germans used them as well. In fact, the UK has done very little for the automotive work in innovation.

@philyt I thought the electric starter was invented by the Japs who introduced it to motorbikes. i'm not trying to start an argument its just for discussions sake. also being from the UK, i think the main reasons why UK automotive companies fail is because of the size of the UK, we can't really benifit from people buying british. and also labour rates in the UK mean you can't produce a cheap car.

@jewlzorjay Quick googling puts Indian as the 1st bike with electric start, in 1914. Cadillac introduced them in 1912, so this would predate the bikes anyways.
The UK automakers failed for many reasons, in the US it was build quality and reliability. You can see BL's last attempt in the US with Sterling, a Honda! based sedan that flopped due to build problems. In the UK, they had all sorts of labor problems.

Also we have to remember some of the foolish buisness mistakes the british industry has made. Rover produced a record breaking eastate car in despte needing the publicity said nothing. Thats a shame because rover made some beautiful cars, my first car was a rover and i loved it.
I think the best hope Britian has now is to only design, badge and test cars within the UK. assemby will have to be done outside the UK for any real profit to be made now.

Assembly line workers ruined the quality, bean counters ruined the reliability (in some cases, but Lucas's near-monopoly hold on the electronic's supply, and their lack of care hurt many brands), and in the end they couldn't stay afloat. I'm not sure of the details of the wage battles, but assembly line work back then wasn't a high paying job regardless. The goal of the assembly line was so that workers-

The workers don't give a shit becaue for british standards its a lot of work for little pay. a friend of mine has a fashin based company ( unrelated i know) and he has had to open a factory in vietnaam. to get the quality he wants in the UK he's looking at about 10 time more money.
Britain has had a lot of great automotive ideas, the mini was british and could be done then, but if the current mini was british i think they would have to sell it closer to £25k to break even.

@wellytopjohnny Actually the US holds stricter emissions standards than most of the EU (ask the EPA why Euro Diesels aren't sold here), and our safety standards are different but doesn't mean that either is better. The US holds stricter standards for bumpers mainly, hence why most compact Euro cars are not easily sold here with out lots of work.
Also, JD Power and Associates, one of the leaders in long term reliability studies.

It is not about one time top speed but the hole pakage witch SSC can't come even close to buggati's performance consistency, luxury, safety, airecraft technology, drive ability...... Olso buggati limits the car at 253mph with a gouverner and they claimed it can go over 260mph but it won't be as stable as going 253mph. Buggati shits on SSC.

VEYRON 1 million time better then SSC. It toke SSC a shit load of try to beat the veyron top speed will veyron did it first time and every time. Veyron way more consistent with is performance, veyron way more technology from engine to brake, transmission, aero dinamic,safety....... Veyron can be driven every day at 253mph safely and it won't brake down, it can be daly driven as a extremly luxury/comfortable machine.

But again, country of origin should have nothing to do with a person's view on the car. Car should be seen at their performance.
