this song to me agree not only brings back many memories is good memories every time i listen to this song i think of my uncle i miss him so much while listening to this song i will never forget when i go to school he always plays this song in the morning
@larrainewong hey there.I shared the same situation wif u. my uncle used to play this song every morning when i go to school.. those are the good old days
Jacky Cheung will eternally be the king of canto pop! i grew up listening to his music and went to his concert here in Toronto last year and wow...he is amazing live! seriously, he is the only HK singer that i still respect these days.
@yunhel Im just curious...whats there to understand surrounding the question 'how many chinese dialects are there?' I do agree that its always nice to understand/know the history that goes with it...please enlighten me/us. :)
@StylinRed I shall have to look up this other singer, though I love ;) Jacky Cheung as to have seen him at the Apollo in London, I just so wished he had come back!
He was AMAZING!...
First time I ever saw hom? in Bullet In The Head, what a film that was, I think he played the part of Fly :) all the best :D
i loved this song every x i listen it makes me sad it makes me want to cry cause my family loves his albums and this song bring me back memories of my uncle who everyday i miss so much and he's been for 4yr already
Also, linguists generally consider Chinese "dialects" as separate languages, such as Yue (Standard Cantonese, Taishanese), Southern Min (Taiwanese/Hokkien, Teochew, Hainanese), Wu (Shanghainese, Wuxi, Ningbo) etc.. There is no point comparing the number of English dialects with Chinese dialects.
Almost every language has dialects. There're several English standards, such as General American, BBC (British) English, Australian English, New Zealand English, Standard Indian English, each with their own dialects (Southern American, Cockney, South Australian English) Also, anywhere that has a significant population of people learning and using English, there is a variation of English, such as Nigerian English, Malaysian English. There's no way to actually count the number of dialects..
I'm from Latin America and I'm into Chinese music (all the kinds of music), and Jacky Cheung is my favorite male singer. This song is great, but I prefer One Thousand Heartbreaking Reasons.
Alex, you truly are a retard. TRULY... Even if these "dialects" listed when you google English dialects, were real, they still don't near compare to the 1500 counted.... and the 3000+ approximated Chinese dialects out there. Go back to school you scrub. You retarded ABC. English dialects... HA! they're merely different pronunciations you fool.
Specifically, within the Chinese language, this is the Cantonese dialect. Only Cantonese speakers and listeners will understand the song. Mandarin speakers can read the text but won't be able to hear it out by ear.
i think every new star (kinda like american idol..... except that it exists like over 20 yrs ago before AI started. LOL) covered at least one his songs in the 90s on.
it's funny how i'm only recently discovering these great Cantonese singers. my parents don't really listen to these Cantonese singers i don't think cuz i guess when my mom was my age she used to be really into American music. haha.
Yep totally agree, Too bad but i love a few old song of hiis including this one... used to listen to it when i was a kidfrom y older bro and sis whoms 12-14 years older than me. I am vietamese but somehow i manage to understand chinese in verbal conversation. Strange. Loved this song when heard it in a drama in 1994 treasure to knot with etkin cheng and Nnadia. Great
lol..my dad and mom used to listen to these songs when I was little..I'm slowly growing to like them....for some weird reason...scary...I guess it means I'm maturing...lol
yeah it is, but many people cant speak cantonese and find mandarin versions more approchable, anyway alot of the times I prefare the cantonese versions when there are 2 to pick from.
It's been over 10 years that I listened to Jacky's songs. My mother tongue is Chinese, so it's natural to start listening to Jacky with his Mandarin songs. But later I just found his Cantonese ones are my favorites! His singing skill is definitely perfect in any language, but if you listen carefully, there is some subtle differences in his emotions & affections, which are distinctive in his mother tongue~~ anyway, I love Jacky Cheung.
I can get the mp3 version for this song :) If you want it, make sure you leave me your email address in advance so i can send it to you. Your welcome!

Malaysian and Singapork English aren't dialects. Even we would laugh at you for calling it a "dialect".
The only dialects I know are the different countries in UK. When the word "know" can be pronounced as "ken" , now that's a dialect.

You "moron", this is a Cantonese song.
Chinese refers to the general group known as Mandarin.
But of course everything is considered "Chinese" because there are so many freaking dialects.
AWDracer 2 years ago
o yes, because a language spoken by the chinese isnt chinese.
