surely their different filmmakers. I admire Bay's work ethic but dazzling explosions in front of me isn't as appealing as Kubrick's storytelling. It's also quite clear Bay is after the cash as opposed to Kubrick who was after art. It's also unfair to judge, and especially from Mr. 1994, cause Bay is still alive and reaping the benefit's of modern technology, but I'd like to imagine what Kubrick would be up to if he were still with us.
@MegaMaverick1994 he may have better action but the cgi thing is bs he totally abuses it more than my father uses my asshole. that and kubrick is more dedicated and raw... wish i could say the same thing about my asshole...
Wow, wow, wow! Whoa, whoa, whoa! You're actually suggesting that Michael "Armageddon" Bay is a better filmmaker than a man who revolutionized movies every time he got behind the camera?? You're actually saying that Transformers is a better, more important film than A Clockwork Orange or 2001 or Dr. Strangelove?? Seriously?
@MegaMaverick1994 Bay has a world of modern CGI and other special effects at his fingertips whereas Kubrick merely had the basics of a camera, lighting equipment, cast and crew and lot of talent.
@spiritualCAPTAIN1 Yeah he is can be great but he shouldn`t do obscuritism, but he did inspire, Lucas, Spielberg, coppola, De Balma, Scorsese, nolan, fincher, cameron, scott, zemeckis, tarrantino, etc....
@inbreakingnews Eye Wide Shut and Spartacus are in your top 100 films??!!!! Well, we must pay great heed to your words then! lol Would love to see some of your other 98 - Wind Talkers? Showgirls? Higlander II? GI Jane?
to Barringer82: I don't know how long this took you to make (I edit so I can imagine quite a bit). Either way, fantastic. Really, I've seen this several times and it fills me with such excitement watching this that I have to instinctively pop in one of his films.
@ripro83 so far he's done tributes to kubrick, p.t. anderson, scorsese, michael mann, lynch, ridley scott, wes anderson, tim burton, quentin tarantino, david fincher, woody allen, russ meyer, john hughes, & the coen bros.
bennettmedia [dot] blogspot [dot] com & then /search/label/Directors%20Series?max-results=20
@ripro83 Yes, he has. Look up films of Wes Anderson, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Ridley Scott. He's made more tribute videos on directors, which could all be found on his blog page.
@Zambior You've just got to know where to look. Cinema always has its ups and downs, good and bad. Sure, in the past couple years we've had Mars Needs Moms, Hall Pass, Grown Ups and Furry Vengeance. We've also had There Will be Blood, The Social Network, Zodiac, Black Swan, Certified Copy, The Tree of Life, etc. Great films are released every year, and although the vast majority of them don't come close to any of Kubrick's movies, I wouldn't say cinema is "assfuckingly gay nowadays".
Kubrick is the man as Jack Nicholson would say, all these big actors would try and challenge him but he had a vision and a passion that not even the biggest names like Kirk Dougles could change, he IS the greatest director of all time i swear by it, if theres a God his favourite films would be Kubricks. As Terry Gilliam put it Spielberg gives you all the answers, Kubrick makes you ask all the questions. Respect and Love for Kubrick

Kubrick was a beast! There will never be such a good director.. I hope that there will be.. But that's just impossible.. He was on an entirely other level.. Happy birthday Stanley! Your movies will never die.
I'm sure I've commented on this superb vid before, but today, Kubrick's birthday I again need to say how amazing this piece is. Kudos to you for putting it together so perfectly... It illustrates with crystal clarity just how singular, important and great Stanley Kubrick was. Thanks again and Happy Birthday Stanley Kubrick.
@tisbutafleshwound Wow...you know thats true. He NEVER made a bad film. I never actually thought about that until now. He had a 100 percent perfect career record. Does it surprise me? Not in the least.
What an honor it is to have shared the Earth with one of the Greatest Artists of all Eternity!
As a musician, I've often wondered what it would've been like to have been alive in Beethoven's or Mozart's time...
Well, many of us remember going to the cinema to see the latest Kubrick film - and yes, we know exactly the exhilarating feeling of being exposed to timeless art.
These are all great films and Stanley is indeed one great film director. But what saddens me a bit is that most of his movies are based on novels or were written by someone else.
@archangel385 why would it sadden you? The origin of the story shouldn't really matter that much, the story itself should. All of the stories Kubrick chose were, and are, beautiful. The films though often differ so much from the book that they are almost their own.
@archangel385 Even all of Shakespeare's plays save Twelfth Night were based on things other people had written or histories that had already transpired. Standing on the shoulders of giants friend.
guy is a pedophile "Paul B. Proulx, 28, of 24 Bennett Place, was arrested on a Worcester Federal District Court charge of child pornography possession, police said. No other information was available."
Correct me if i'm wrong, but it seemed like there wasn't much 2001: A Space Odyssey... and in my opinion that's Kubrick's best! But anyway, Awesome video!!:D
@TheFactoryofMorrison That was off the Clockwork Orange soundtrack by Wendy (Walter) Carlos. It is Beethoven's 9th Symphony, 4th movement. Wendy became famous in 1968 for releasing Switched on Bach with the same electronic score. She (he) also scored TRON in 1982.
I know I've seen this before but now I know this is editing that goes on hours, days or even weeks of work ahead to achieve such a level of ediditing in sound, music and film. one, if not the best compilation of kubricks work!
if you don't do a Brian DePalma compilation this year, I'll do it for 2012 and upload it here!
@leleoparddu62 you mean me? I can do a DePalma but Scorsese and Coppola are harder, since I have only half of Scorsese's work in memory and Coppola has left a scar in my soul when I was 13 and convinced my family to watch Jack... I was really persistent... Imagine me sitting in the theater and being gobsmacked as the last third of the movie unfolded in front of me and the audience...
Nevertheless, I can make a Coppola compilation of his glory years!
This is captivating and shows how Kubrick uses certain themes in all his movies and related imagery. The ending is a shock to the senses. I especially like the section that shows all the extreme zoom camera work in his films. Amazing director and a wonderful tribute!
well then, you may be interested in checking out Kubrick's Odyssey: Secrets hidden in the films of Stanley Kubrick, whcih contains devastating proof that the landing was shot in a studio on Earth! It exposes Kubrick's "deal with devil", how he faked the moon landings in order to secure his future. This film was just released and is available at sacredmysteries . com.
if u were born in the 60's or early 70's, u know what it felt like to go to a theater to see the new Kubrick movie...words can't describe this feeling.
Your tribute is awesome and that's an understatement of course.
what a mad genius Kubrick was. this is a very well made video. Kubrick was one of the greatest directors of all time and never made a bad movie, he did make some disturbing films but they were all brilliant.
I miss him so much...

it's amazing

I cried. Blees your little heart, Kubrick. There will never be another one like you.

@Zambior Notice how all the movies you mentioned bombed at the box office.

Every Kubrick film I watch brings new meaning to this video to which I humbly appoint as the best video on youtube.

@spanishprisoner
ho yes, a de palma, coppola and scorsese compilation and you'll become my friend !
leleoparddu62 8 months ago
@leleoparddu62 you mean me? I can do a DePalma but Scorsese and Coppola are harder, since I have only half of Scorsese's work in memory and Coppola has left a scar in my soul when I was 13 and convinced my family to watch Jack... I was really persistent... Imagine me sitting in the theater and being gobsmacked as the last third of the movie unfolded in front of me and the audience...
Nevertheless, I can make a Coppola compilation of his glory years!

@spanishprisoner
sorry if my english is bad, i'm french,
if you can make a de palma's compilation, it'll be great !!

This is captivating and shows how Kubrick uses certain themes in all his movies and related imagery. The ending is a shock to the senses. I especially like the section that shows all the extreme zoom camera work in his films. Amazing director and a wonderful tribute!

This may seem like a cliched statement, but for Kubrick it's true that he was born to make movies.

well then, you may be interested in checking out Kubrick's Odyssey: Secrets hidden in the films of Stanley Kubrick, whcih contains devastating proof that the landing was shot in a studio on Earth! It exposes Kubrick's "deal with devil", how he faked the moon landings in order to secure his future. This film was just released and is available at sacredmysteries . com.

@CanardDeChien "I'm Sparticus, have you come to free the slaves?" that was Sellers in Lolita.

if u were born in the 60's or early 70's, u know what it felt like to go to a theater to see the new Kubrick movie...words can't describe this feeling.
Your tribute is awesome and that's an understatement of course.

what a mad genius Kubrick was. this is a very well made video. Kubrick was one of the greatest directors of all time and never made a bad movie, he did make some disturbing films but they were all brilliant.
