  • 中野サンプラザでの演奏の拙さも愛嬌のうち

    マイケルヘッドの声質は本当に素晴らしい

    実は当時ビジュアル面でも渋谷系の神的存在でした。

  • Michael Head - one of the most under-rated singer/songwriters OF ALL TIME!! If this group was around today doing this music they would be absolutely MASSIVE!! All that was good about Liverpool in the 80's - I still play their album's today - Michael please reform and get gigging! Fantastic! Now does anyone have "Limit" they could post and make an old ex-Scouse boy even more happy lol!! Thanks for sharing - in me element lah!!

  • I've been looking for and trying to remember the name of this band forever. The best, could have been a lost Bunnymen track, ever!

    jeans in drag

    very cool gay pop rock

i love it so subtle so romantic

    very f^%$king cool

    too bad im not gay

    mike spent

  • If you are not gay, why do you keep saying it?

This song song has nothing to do with homosexuality.

  • any lyric can be open to individual interpretation!,but the flaw in yours is that if it is the French pronounciation Michael Hesd would be singing John but he's clearly singing Jean making her female!,yours sincerly Mr Logical

  • This reminds me of Ku club in sunderland many moons ago along with friends again, ahh to be 18 again.

  • Been listening to this for over twenty years. Gets better every time I hear it.

  • wallyrange u didnt go see the pale fountains the other week u went and saw shack u wally lmao

  • Actually, he did see the paleys at their reunion concert.

  • no the drummer and bassist didnt show up on account of the bassist birng dead and the drummer hadnt played in 20 years

so yeah it was shack under the name of the pale fountians

  • I was at the concert as well and I can tell you that Jock (the drummer) and Andy Diagram were there so it was a virtualy full Paleys line up. shack drummer played a bit of percussion, but jock was the drummer. Mick Head said it was a paleys gig so who are you to argue?

  • yer dude

    im micks bezzy lad

so he sed it was paleys

    i cant dissagree

  • Glad you're laughin dorightwoman1 coz no one else is, idiot

  • lucky guys,common fans these guys,or dexys,perfect pop.

  • dont ever refer mick head as pop i know him and he would be enfuriated

  • Just got back from the London gig at the Shepherds Bush Empire. In a word - genius. All the songs sounded as fresh as they did 20 years ago.

  • Went to See The Pale Fountains last night in Liverpool. Absolutely brilliant. They did this twice.

  • I absolutely love this song, and have thought about the Pale Fountains now and then since I heard this song in the 80s. I have never seen the entire video until now. Thank you for posting!

  • I FKING LOVED THIS THEN -I LOVE IT STILL

  • these guys are playing liverpool 2008 Yay!!

  • Just found this after all these years! GREAT STUFF,and to think Biffa all of us at ISSY'S took the P*** out of you went you said your were goin to join a band. SORRY & R.I.P

  • shit guys they playin london 2008,shit is the fucking smack, voice is kinda changed, gonna be there tho, dancing lika twit

  • I'm so glad to have found this clip. Thanks for the contribution. Creations such as this are really so darn hard to find now a days.

  • As well as being a great song, it's amazing to see how good-looking Michael Head was in his younger years. If he'd been bothered, he could've been a teen heartthrob like Nick Heyward - but he was obviously meant for more serious things.

  • This is the best song they ever had. Long live the band of the 80's. Hope we can have more poets with guitars like them.

  • This has brought back many memories ta

  • Can't wait for them to play this in liverpool next February it going to be one of the best. brilliant!

  • The genius of Michael Head. Also check out their debut single 'Just a Girl' on the obscure Operation Twilight label. A gem.

  • Biffa, RIP.

  • Goood music Power 105 fm

  • best ever lyric: i think i'll take that shower! love from sushi xxx

  • Funny no one has posted "palm of my hand", I think that was there best.

  • ...and where is a video of ''something on my mind?''. One of their best as well...

  • A reply to megaforcemedia: Though Mick Head was addicted to Herion for a while, he is still alive and well and is still playing with his band Shack who are putting out a "best of" this year. The only person from this video that is deceased is the bass guitarist Chris "Biffa", who died of brain tumor.

  • Cult pop band in France at this time

  • do you know how long it is I saw this one. thank you thoutah.

for me this is a classic from the 80s

  • The guy became a junkie and died, or almost died or something, according to Wikipedia.

  • Very.

  • A friend of a friend once gave me a vinyl copy of 'across the kitchen table' with the dismisive comment 'right up your street mate', and how right he was.

  • this tune and "Shelter" from this album are both brilliant. This should have been a massive hit.

  • wow what a great track! thank you so much for the post!

  • one of my all time favourites - what a sound!

  • i swear shack's "natalie's party" is "jean's not happening part two"!!!!

  • What a great little gem to find on here! The only other time I've seen this was on the old 'Max Headroom' show (U.K, channel 4). I bought 'From across the kitchen table on the strength of it. One of the best R 'n' R videos...

  • no wonder - same writer/singer

  • although michael and the band felt like this was their "worst album" (overproduced), it had some classic songs..jean's not happening, shelter, stole the love, across the kitchen table, these are things....this album has been in my top 30 for years now. i always said that if i had a guitar driven band, i would call us "jean's not happening."

    .....hey girl, wherever you are....

  • i always like across the kitchen table and this song. havent heard natalie's party yet. natalie a reminiscence of jean?

  • "natalie's party" is the first song on their shack (band they formed after the pale fountains called it a day) cd called "hms fable". basiclly the song has about the same theme and celebratory feel about it as this one. the whole of hms fable is fantastic. check it out!!!

  • i actually quite like this song, im normally a bit of a metalhead but my uncle thomas is the drummer so i thought id check it out!

  • great uncle you have!

  • hmm noticed a lot of the 60s biker garb and crew cuts in the early to mid 80s in the indie scene. i guess that was the look prior to bowl cuts and anoraks taking over.

  • wow...i remember this being written along with all the others.i was good friends with mikes little sister and was always hanging round. normally heckling...aahhh good memories

  • whow i had their first 7 inch singles and i like that album too!!!! thanks for posting that video !!

  • Max Headroom was the last time I saw this video! I remembered the Petrol Station & the girl dancing. They were a brilliant band! Still play there Albums every so often. Thanks!

  • Love this song as well. But PaciFic Street is probably one of the best albums ever in the New Wave era. Is there a video for Abergele Next Time and Something on my Mind? If there is... I hope somebody would be kind enough to share it.

  • Haven't heard this in years... I remember taping this video off the TV early in '85 and endlessy rewinding it to see that Ricky 330. RIP Chris McCaffrey.

  • who was Chris McCaffrey?

  • He was the Pale Fountains bass player, and by all accounts, the bands steadying influence. According to the bands leader Michael Head (now of Shack) it was Chris that tried to keep the others, including Head, off the smack and focussed on the music, sadly to no avail. Chris very sadly died of a brain haemorrage not long after the Fountains split.

  • sorry to hear that..thanks for the info

  • Totally agree..along with Unless and Southbound Excursion...I play the album at least once a week

  • This song is a treasure. Haven't seen this video since it was on Max Headroom's show in 1985 (holy shit!! 22 years ago!!) Brings back some great memories....

  • thanks for putting this on a real classic

  • good!

  • The motorbike was on the front sleeve of the maxi in, France with Michael Head behind , sitting on the sidewalk.

  • This song Brings back memories.1st heard on Power 105.1 DZBM manila,PH..They introduced this song 2gether with "the wooden tops"..love it!!! tnx so much for posting!

  • This is really nice work, a timeless classic. Not to make more of it than it is, but the piece is almost like concept art. It's a shame that 60s-ish neo-mod "quiet pop" genre (both the sound and the look/feel of the videos) didn't make it much past the mid-80s, but there's lots of it out there and it works as well today as it did in 1985.

  • Awesome - lead sinder is so cute - this album is one of my faves 20+ years on! :)

  • Geez I had almost forgotten this song (how could i:)

Thanks so much for sharing this

It brought back some cherished memories

I took the liberty of sending this link to my high school buddy Michael in Germany (Michael hope you enjoyed it:)

  • Two of the guys went on to form Shack, they've released a few albums, plus the critically-acclaimed "HMS Fable" in 1999 which got them a Brit nomination for "Best British Newcomer" in 2000.

As for this video, it's as good as anything Shack have done!!! :D :D :D.

  • This single takes me back to a time and a place and it should have been massive.

btw I saw Shack backing arthur lee (rip) in liverpool in the early 90s. He did a record signing at the Our Price in central station the day before (or after? it's all so hazy now).

  • Great song and video!!! I remember seeing this video for the first time in 1985. Have thought about this song over the years. Thanks for sharing it!!

  • Oh! Another thing: I soooo wanted to be the girl in this video! x

  • I remember seeing this on Much Music here in Canada back in the day on their late-night 'alternative' programme. I was lucky to get it on VHS; but, over the years lost the tape. I couldn't find it anywhere! Thanks for posting! x

  • been collecting their records for over 20 years & never seen the video before.

  • i love this band , for infrmation , please visit my blog: www.pisarock.blogspot.com Avaliable in spanish languaje ,Thank You !!!!!!
