  • this version is very good too

  • Comment removed

  • The motorhead version of this song is a joke compared to this. Come on you Space Brock keep Rocking!

  • It is Dave Brock, this is the 1980s remix with less Lemmy and sax, and more Dave Brock and synths.

  • Love the psychedelic mushroom-cloud effect.

  • maybe i am wrong it it Dave Brock singing ?

  • lemmy sings this ofc

  • who sings on this version?

  • @Danthrax11 Dave Brock I think

  • MOTORHEAD, REMEMBER ME NOW MOTORHEAD!!

  • i love the intro i hate the song.....

  • @elouroeides why u here then

  • The song is fuckin' good, but the Motorhead's one is better!

  • i meant @inderption

  • @fagend123 actually you're right! lemmy has been asked many times in interviews, who he credits as being the originators of rock n roll, and every time his answer's the same. elvis pressley, little richard and jerry lee lewis! alot of people may not realize this but lemmy and motorhead's roots come from the old rockabilly sound of the 50's ,in fact lemmy 's biggest influence's are the 3 artist's i mentioned above.

  • G ÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖRAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNN

  • it is fucken righteous, alright!

  • Kings Of Speed/Motorhead was the best single Hawkwind ever released

  • So, very interesting reason to kick off Lemmy from a PSYCHEDELIC 70's BAND.. Use of drugs.. And a good business move too (for Lemmy only though..)

  • the best version ever

  • well acually Lemmy after being kicked off Hawkwind he made the new band naming them ''Motorhead'' after this particular song he wrote for his former band.so.

  • Thats right, it was crystal and speed

  • LEMMY!!!

  • oust re kelekia

  • righteous indeed, fyc==k yes!¬

  • I just can't seem to get the hang of hawkwind.

  • awesome!!!

  • This was the last song that Lemmy wrote while still a member of Hawkwind. Following his departure from Hawkwind he decided to set up a ''heavier'' band and, advised by his manager that Bastard would not be a good name if he wanted to get Top of the Pops appearances, Lemmy settled on Motorhead. The rest, as they say, is history.

I like this version of the song but my favourite is on No Sleep til Hammersmith, Motorhead's Number 1 chart-topping LIVE album from 1981.

  • oh my

  • Hmm, Lemmy has always loved stuff like coke, speed, crack, mdma(?) ... he even likes drinking coke lollol ... and drinking whiskey of course. Mr. Kilmister is a god !

  • @doom696mented Motorhead is an american term for a "speedfreak" his drug of choice ( he doesnt ever use crack ffs., ( which is why he was booted out of hawkwind but thats another story..., ) and u rarely see him without a jack daniels and coke )

  • @plisplis00 he was booted because he loved speed, which is a totally different way of thinking compared too acid or mushrooms or dope, he Detested coke and heroien fool! watch the documentary bbc4!

still vivaa hawkwind wish i was there!!

  • @riffamania Mate is that not what i just said? what u callin me a fool for? oh btw try learning to spell heroin before u call someone/make yourself look like a TOOL ok? lololol

  • @riffamania if you saw the documentary ... then you know he was finally dropped for failing to make a gig - because he was fucked over at US customs - amphetamines, yes. However... I think we all benefited in the long term - two GREAT bands for the price of one - result :o)

  • Hwkwind is one of the fewest bands that makes my hair stand up ! I nearly have an orgasm when I hear every stuff from them !

  • fuck drugs, this song makes me feel wired.

  • love this version just as much as the motorhead one \m/

  • this is the best version of this song.

  • no, it sucks.

  • @BlaXainT

you suck! everything lemmy did was good. everything!!!

  • @NukeTheSlut

I was saying the guys in Hawkwind and this version sucks. Lemmy and the boys play it best.

  • @BlaXainT FUCK YOU U HALFWIT NO NOTHING....,,, DO U KNOW JACK? NO U DONT KNOW JACK SHIT YOU MORON ., ALWAYS AND FOREVER HAWKWIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @plisplis00 ;)

  • it was good that they left him by a hotel.

nice titts in a vid, lemmy dont need to be.

he is alone gone the better way.

he is motorhead and the best bass

    player ever!

    hilsen fra norge

  • Lemmy was the singer with Hawkwind and he named the banf after this Hawkwind song.

    watch?v=MoZ_Lg21b14&feature=related

  • @FFM0594

motorhead was slang for a speedfreak, and, acording to legend he was originally going to call his band bastard, but was prevailed to call them motorhead, that and his "rumoured" loved of the white stuff :-)

  • @FFM0594 Hawkwind was around long before Lemmy joined. Hawkwind was named after Michael Moorcocks book's. Lemmy was the bass player and occasionally provided vocals, Robert Calvett was recognized as the lead singer during this time in the bands life.

  • Spurs. Now they are really sh*te.

  • UP The IRONS ! ! !

    Germany

  • Possibly the best version of this song ever!

  • awesome bass intro.

  • Elvis? Shite? now That's Marrow-minded-Elvis the KING? of fucking Rock-n-Roll? Hey, FAGend123, Suck my UNIT, u moron!

  • My wallpaper is full of Dragons and Pixies and a few colours i've never seen before.Cosmic, er .......

  • Great Band, Great song!

  • MOTORHEAD!

  • is Dave Brock singing here?? in the warriors at the edge of time album is Lemmy singing or am i wrong?

  • Okay, dis is fuckin mind-blowing.

  • THE COLOR CHANGES

  • @ZZombyWooff No shit Sherlock ...., lol

  • Comment removed

  • @ZZombyWooff Oh i can tell mate., i can tell ...., :)

  • @ZZombyWooff You sure about that? You sure it wasn't any drugs you took at the time?

  • Gene Simmons sucks in a way that most of us will never know. A pure lancet.

  • @smilingpug Yea watch it I'm a die hard Kiss fan but Gene is the reason Ace and Peter left and I think they should take the makeup off it's not Ace and Peter but Gene is money hungry and Paul too. Do you happen to know where I can fing Hawkwinds album on cd the zenon codex

  • ok this is the original budgie/ metallica thing...lemmy wrote this song when he was IN hawkwind and played on the album warriors on the edge of time...when he left (kicked depending on view) he took it and made it even more his own...i love this version but damn does lemmy redo his theme with bulls balls...after all these years im going to finally see them...hopefully

  • Kiss Copied this song "Making Love" Gene Simmons you suck

  • @bpkeane1 This sounds nothing like makin love dude and I agree with you about Gene that's why Ace and Peter left Ace is a great and my favorite guitarist.

  • nice

  • Great version its got a Punk Vibe to it

  • I figured this was a fuck you to hawkwind from lemmy, total mind blow lol. Prefer the original, but the this is still pretty good lol

  • OMG I DISLIKED BY ACCIDENT! pfffffffff FUCK!

  • I prefer the extended bassline at the start of this version

  • Looking forward to see Hawkwind again at Sweden Rock Festival 2011 in June.

  • Its always been better and accurately describes the feeling of taking whizz far better

  • awsome bass intro

  • Was this ever an EP? IF so what the fuck was the B Side?

  • @Heuri1 the b-side was a 5 and a half minute jam with a lot of synthy space noise called valium ten i believe. its a fantatsic song. you can find it on soulseek, maybe some other sharing programs. certainly worth several listens

  • brilliant

  • ALWAYS AND FOREVER HAWKWIND!!!!

  • still a class tune. Even though Ian kilminster is credited for it on the original Hawkwind version. Just got better an better. Timeless Classic Rock n Roll. Motorheads version kicked arse an still does, likewise with Hawkwind

  • we used to play this in pino's chippy :) loved hawkwind happ:y days

  • This is amazing. SO going into the interview....I mean just listen at that 1:48 part where the riffs and the keys [as well as the bass] take over and make it such a killer tune where you hear more than you could ever bargain for].

  • This is amazing. SO going into the interview....lol

  • This is the version we released ob Flicknife with dave on vox and guitar, Lemmy on bass and Simon Powell on drums. The B-side was 'Valium 10' and was only stopped from going higher up the Charts by Motorhead rush releasing their own version. The best version according to a poll of fans from both bands.

  • @Frenchy1312 i'll certainly take the hawkwind version, and this from a big motorhead fan.

  • @Frenchy1312

valium 10 is a cracking song as this is

  • I got to know this song from Primal Scream (awesome cover). Then I listened to both Motorhead's version and this original by Hawkwind. I must say I like this one better, I think it has the psychedelic feeling Primal Scream tried (successfully, imho) to recreate with the cover. Motohead's version with Lemmy on vocals sounds just like another good rock and roll song, nothing more.

  • This song is what Motorhead's sound shold be. This song gave not only the name of Lemmy's band, but also inspiration for the sound. Compared this song with any Motohead's song and you'll listen to it

  • This was the B-side of Hawkwind's 'Kings Of Speed' 7" single in 1975 and it's great as a Hawkwind song, as it also is as a Motorhead song. So why compare?

Good music is good music - and that's that that matters eh? Music isn't football after all......

(and by the way.....Elvis was shite!)

  • @fagend123 well said

  • @fagend123 Lemmy doesnt think Elvis was shite.

  • @fagend123 Elvis was the king mate. In the words of John Lennon "before elvis, there was nothing"

  • @brieflycake Actually before Elvis there was hundreds of hard working African-American musicians laying the foundations of popular music.

  • @almanacofsleep yes, yes, i knew some bright spark would say that. But you are missing the point of what he is saying, obviously he doesnt mean there was literally nothing.

  • @fagend123 Where the fuck did that come from? Elvis is the fucking king. Without him there'd be no rock and roll.

  • @Inderption Although i agree that Elvis was great, Rock n' Roll would still exist as a music genre even without him. The foundations were laid before Elvis, he just gave em a big forward push:D

  • Lemmy all the fucking way. I'm young, but I realize that starting from prog/psych rock to the beginning of punk, and then accidentally starting metal ( debatable ) is certainly something to take shots of white russian to.

  • @clockwerkkilla420

I'll drink to that!!! Going to see Lemmy next month!

  • lemmys is better

  • @skaterobban Lemmy was in Hawkwind and this is the original version.

  • @mrmott44 ive heard the lemmy version of this and its 1000x times better.. this singer sucks balls. haha sucks for hawkwind for kicking him out. lemmy rules no matter where hes at

  • @skaterobban this singer is far from suck balls ..... hes good at what he does ..... this isent what he does though ,,,, LEAVE MOTORHEAD FOR THE TRUE GOD LEMMY KILMISTER ....

  • I reckon this is more energetic and exciting than the Hawkwind version with Lemmy's vocal and Simon House's superb violin solo and that both versions are better than Motorhead's. Just my 2 cents.

BTW - Hawkwind can still be very very powerful live. Catch them while you can!

  • @ifscott

    It's Dave Brock on vocals.

  • @blaineyboots

    I know :-)

  • definately dave brock......but who else cud write the lyrics ' like a parallelogram'......

  • Comment removed

  • absolutely proper and in tune with the psylocibin, ain't felt this good for a while

  • absolutely proper and in tune with the psylocibin

  • Hawkwind FTW!

  • KILLER LASER GUN SOLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hawks version has always been the dogs, just lemmy owns it

  • hawkwind is weird.

  • i always think of a person riding down the freeway on a chopper when i hear this song. it is so great.

  • just to clarify some of the comments regarding this song-it was(although a different vsn)the b-side of the kings of speed single(1975),and didnt appear on the vinyl rel of warrior on the edge of time.It was the last song written by Lemmy for hawkwind, and THAT vsn had Lemmy on vocs. The demo vsn here was rel by flicknife in 1983,but WAS NOT recorded during the earth ritual reunion with Lemmy in 83-it was recorded in 1975.Daves on vocs here.Lemmys just on bass,-alan powells on drums, not simon king.

  • Oh Lord, please give me some acid!

  • Just found this band, they're awesome.

  • this version was a demo version just recorded with drums, guitar and bass..it's different than the version on the album *warriors at the edge of time*.

  • @iainhawkzinekhan it aint on the vinyl....its a bonus track on the cd....lol showing my age!!!! still got all my hawkwind vinyls up to PXR5 or Levitation, which eva was most recent!!!!

  • love this song . lemmy kicks arse

  • Kickass! Who doesn't love the Warthog? You cats did a rad job! Keep up the hard shit!

  • can anyone recommend any motorhead songs - only one i kknow is ace of spades and how does that compare with fans favourites

  • @supasap Just look on here, Motorhead songs a plenty and all them brilliant. Pick your them all and enjoy. If you like Ace of Spades then you have good grounding. You will just love the rest of their stuff......and one last thing, PLAY LOUD! Good luck and enjoy!

  • @supasap Plenty of brilliant Motorhead songs on here. I would suggest you surf and find your own faves! They are all classics to us fans and one last thing, PLAY LOUD!

  • @stevebishop overkill,no class, bomber, killed by death, stay clean, jailbait, stone dead forever...i'll be your sister is also highly under-rated,i think..but all the albums from overkill to ace of spades are classics. The phil/eddie/lemmy period is the classic period.:)

  • @SunboXUK Just to let you know all the albums from overkill to ace of spades consists of only Overkill, Bomber, and Ace of spades. I think what you mean is all the albums from Motorhead (1977) To Iron Fist (1982) are classics. Thats when Eddie Clarke left, and even the album after that, Another Perfect day was Killer! But then again i'm not picky with Motorhead, I love all of it, Phil Campbell and Mickey Dee have done an amazing job, and put a whole bunch of killer albums as well.

  • @noremac91 yep,sorry-yes,iron fist is a great album..n before overkill, there was the "motorhead" album, and "on parole"(rel a bit later?)..but both motorhead and on parole are a bit dodgy recording-wise...No sleep til hammersmith is a cracking live album!-up there with Space Ritual! :)..I must admit,i lost a bit of interest after eddie left..

Lemmys not ruling out another guest appearance with Hawkwind soon(2000, n 2004 were the last 2 occasions) :)

  • @supasap limb from limb

  • I like it but its a little soft and clean, motorhead is better, hard and dirty.

  • the original name was

    Passwind

they should have kept it , as they sucked ass

  • die Art von Zuneigung, kannste vergessen, gÖRAN: DU ARSCHLOCH:

  • i guess there are 11 people lining up to taste Justin Bieber's weiner

  • OMG!!! this is almost better than the Motorhead version of this song!!!

    epic

    i've never heard Hawkwind before.

    cant wait to hear more

  • @smp156 Make sure you listen to the "Lemmy Era" Hawkwind, by far the best, IMHO. Space Ritual album, live recording, is the best!!!

  • @oldoipunk Warrior on the Edge of Time, In Search of Space, Doremi Fasol Latido, Quark, Strangeness & Charm, Hall of the Mountain Grill...........

  • @nattynash62 Yes, those, thank you, I was in a hurry and did not want to take time to list the "Lemmy" albums. But his aggressive bass playing and occasional vocals gave the songs a harder edge.

  • Hmmmm yeah!!!

  • The bass line is always there.........bum bum bum da da bum....magnificent

  • Love this song....and this so trippy vid...

  • Makes me laugh every time young whipper snappers think they are the only cainers to have lived. Better to be a Phet Head than a pipe whore.

  • awsome mate

  • Hawkwind was one of the first Lemmy's group!

  • Lemmy got the boot from Hawkwind 'cos of certain white nose powder abuse.....

  • @mollo27 Actually it`s one of the last : )

  • @mollo27 Yeah petelabeat is right,Lemmy was in a shit load of bands before hawkwind.

  • @mollo27 One of lemmys first groups was in fact the Rocking Bishops, who at one time went on a cultural exchange to Russia. He joined the Hawks whilst a roadie for Hendrix. Famously he was asked to join the Hawks in Trafalger Square. He was in fact a rhythm guitarist before joining the Hawks as bassist.

  • @Readingcoops

err, that's rockin viccars then innit?

  • @markmp3prinsen Yeah it was, I was pissed when I wrote the original comment. :-)

  • My favorite version!

  • i am sorry ,but i think this music is awfully boring. i raised up with this music (fever tree...0)......today i wanted to hear ...hawkwind..i liked it so much....so YT...and hawkwind..........its one big deception.

  • saw them a year ago at christmas in london - 5 minutes in they're playing orgone accumulator and there's two theramins on stage

  • It's Lemmy!

  • I have to say this is better than motorheads!!! I have the single from them dayz but no record player. Woz my prize possession....abit dusty now!!!

  • @nattynash62

And that's why we're still aloud to share MP3's still. If you own the record, you can have a backup to stop it getting all scratched (and if U can't find ur record player for old bicycle bits and newspapers)

I was gutted when my stylus eventually wore out as I couldn't play all my Sister's of Mercy 12"'s and MAdness albums until I got back ups.

  • @candisuxxgood love sisters of mercy...........

  • @nattynash62 This demo is better than the verison on the album. Motörheads version on the other hand is faster and heavier, in my ears better.

  • @fabianfanfar yes i do like motorhead's version but Hawkwind's version is my favorite, but then back in the 70's Hawkwind was my fave band so thats probably why I like it more :-) Dave Brock was simply the best ( cant believe he is nearly 70!!! ) He signed my afgahn coat at a record signing in Brum in the late 70s. Haha

  • @nattynash62 :-)

  • @nattynash62 This was the last song Lemmy wrote for Hawkwind. They weren't trying to copy him.

  • @CobainLennon8094 Wasn't silver machine the last song he wrote for the hawks?

  • @Black4Skull He said on Motorhead Ace of Spades classic albums that it was the last song he wrote for them. I'm not a huge motorhead fan. I'm a Lemmy fan. So you might know better then me. Dvrd Lemmy the movie on Palladia Fri and I've already watched it 4 times. I just orderd the Dir cut on Amazon. It has an extra 2hrs on it. He's a really really bright guy. Who treats his fans and people for that matter as they should be treated.

  • @Black4Skull Bob Calvert & Dave Brock wrote Silver machine (it says so on the credits etc.)

  • @hothaggis1 Yeah well as a big Hawkwind and Motorhead fan I'm not going to take your word for it, Off to research!

  • @CobainLennon8094 not aware that I passed such comments!!! They weren't cpoying anyone - he wrote it when with hawkwind, whilst on tour with them in USA, on nite!! I merely state that I love the hawkwind version of which i have on vinyl from a long long time ago.

  • It's Dave doing vocals on this one. There's another version recorded by Hawkwind with vocals by Lemmy.

  • I suddenly have the urge to get pulled over for a speeding ticket

  • So is it Dave or Lemmy singing?

  • @NeverAloneForever, it's Lemmy.

  • @safeashouses211 100% Sure?

  • @NeverAloneForever, no actually I think I'm in the wrong now. There are two versions of the song by Hawkwind, one sung by Lemmy and one sung by Brock.

Search for "Hawkwind - Motorhead (Warrior On The Edge Of Time) 1975" for the Lemmy version. Apologies for that, it's not the first time I've got Lemmy and Brock mixed up though! There's a live version of The Watcher that I thought was Dave Brock singing until my friend told me it was Lemmy.

  • @safeashouses211 Thanks for the heads up.

  • @safeashouses211 no its dav singing this

  • @daleksec5 no it is lemmy

  • It is Dave Brock on vocals, and Lemmy sung Silver Machine.

  • It is Dave Brock on vocals, wierd as it may seem Lemmy sang Silver Machine.

  • Definately not Lemmy singing:-Brock has a more melodic style, with Lemmy it`s shout or bust-love them both mind you.......
