Another thing is that Choirs in Italy aren't particularly good. The vatican choir is average. After 8 plus years here I think the best Choirs in the world are British and American. Another thing is that Choirs in Italy aren't particularly good. The vatican choir is average. After 8 plus years here I think the best Choirs in the world are British and American. At the churches in the summer here in Rome it's always the american University choirs that are invited to sing. Italians can't help but be wanna be opera soloists. They can have great voices. But they rarely work well in a Choir where you need an iron discipline, self effacement and esprit de corps.

Back in 1970 Paul 6th abolished the Papal court and it's trappings. Now Pope Ratzinger can use this to abolish the papal gentlemen. Ever since his first day as Bishop of Rome in 2005 Ratzinger has been trying to bring the papacy back to the way it was in the early church of the 4th century.

And for the Hebrew scriptures the Hebrew community was there before their scriptures too. In Genesis and Exodus they decided to incorporate at least 4 different traditions. Probably crystallizing in what we have now circa 5th century BC. The 'contradictions' we see with our VERY reductive 20th century eyes are because we are reading it one dimensionally.
