@thewizofmasta depends on u tbh, dont listen to most about ranting about DA2, its not a bad game, but personally i liked Dragon age origins, the story was better, made u care about whats going on in the world and the combat mechanics were very RPG like, DA2 was more fast paced action oriented, problem was, it was very simplied, made for an fps person going rpg u could say, the story wasnt as big or epic as DAO tho, but the characters in it were good too and it was a fun game too

my dragon age origins version was bugged the way that I couldnt get the downloadable content with the shale and blood dragon armor. There fore I wouldnt give that game a top notch character as that is a lack of service from bioware. And I have spoken with their "professional supporters" without any luck. they saw the problem but didnt do much. anyways then its a good thing one has oblivion and skyrim coming soon :P
So what? well I think you missed out abit from side missions with the shale and his attached bonus quests... I think its relevant.. plus I miss out the blood dragon armor. I havent played blood mage yet but in wiki oblivion it sounds pretty powerful and neat. so that would be nice if it was able.. atleast they gave me new code to try out at login screen but that didnt work out too lol so ya I think that sux. and ya its a cool game but imo not the best one around

@VeytheVeteran DA2's not so bad that I'd throw it away, but it might get missplaced. It was a half-hearted effort, but there were moments, though few, that were actually exciting. If another Dragon Age comes along which we all probably suspect, they'd better make up double for 2's shortfalls.
@Liamoh1994 Personally I thought the Mother was alot harder than the Architect. I thought the hardest bosses were the Archdemon, Queen of the Blackmarsh, the Mother and Gaxkang the Unbound (if you aren't prepared for him)
@Liamoh1994 Yes you can, you can create a new Orlesian Warden that is premade at level 18, and the level cap is 35, though I've never managed to get above 33 myself :P
@Qwetzgreen yes, you need to have dragon age origins, if your planning on playing pc, you can pick up the ultimate edition which includes the game and this expansion, as well as the stone prisoner companion quest and all other content for $40 bucks. That is if you live in North America. Hope this helped

@criipple you get it in the first game in the brecilian forest and in the ruins. Its called juggernaut armor. you have to find each piece by fighting the different revanents in the forest

uhh... dude, the world o dragon age is called theadas, and ferelden is just a small part of it. in dragon age awakening, you are not in ferelden, but in amaranthene
@MRKetter81 maybe just the way you built your party affected the amount of potions you chugged. Melee characters walking in and bashing things up is traditional. While magic users are also traditionally harder to play. it's classic =P I personally can't say that this expansion is better I haven't played it so i trust your judgement along with everyone elses who says it's not as good. I just thought I'd point those things out. No offense.

@tjdudangel i feel the same way. It was a good game but the first one was better. The game was too short and they didn't let you have convos with the characters like in the first game. With the old characters i feel instead of bringing back oghren (not that i didn't like him) they should have brought back either the character you romanced with or morrigan or something along those lines it would have made the game a little more interesting.

@SethZankuten In my opinion it can be compared to neither WoW or Final Fantasy... Honestly I would say it could be compared only to other Bioware games, like KotOR or Mass Effect.. No FF game or really any other RPGs (and certainly not MMORPGs) out there really have quite the same game impacting choices of morality that Bioware brings to the table. Don't get me wrong, plenty of them try and some are decent... But none are truly on par with Bioware in my opinion. Is why I'm excited for SW:OR
@Solareffects If you do all the side quests, get all the good loot,play through all 6 of the origins and get all 4 different endings its a lot of game play. If your not into click-n-kill games with good story like Fallout and Diablo you probably got bored really fast.
I play both DA:O and WoW and i must say wow's gameplay is much more dynamic, which should be the case since you're controlling only 1 character.
I feel that warrior and rogue in DA:O are extremely boring classes with very shallow talent trees that repeats the same talents with a different name. Whats the difference between shield defense, shield cover and shield wall?
Ok first off the game is about $18 to $20 on amazon so now the games worth the money. Second If you really look at the game its actually pretty good still. The new abilities are great and the new skills are also good (and actually useful) Third
I just started playing awakening and im pretty dissapointed. It feels like you're being thrown into another story. There's just too much from the start. After I've been to the first city my journal was flooded with 20+ quests...
My only complaint about Dragon Age: no matter if you kill either just a small rat, or an enormous legion, your armor is always covered in the same amount of blood. Rather unrealistic, no?

The only boss that challenged me in Awakening was the final boss, and after I figured out how to kill it, wasn't that hard...
I had a lot of trouble with the archdemon, my Characters are meant to be able to handle picking out the most powerful enemy and killing him first, if it is a boss I usually go after the weaker enemys, but the archdemon had infinate, the only battle I had to lower the difficulty on. :(
If you played Dragon Age : Origins and loved it, the only thing I can say is do not buy this. It's an enermous let down in every aspect. Little if any imagination was used to make up the storyline, as your past decisions are not present and future decisions make little difference. Poor cast of characters crown the last adventure of the Protagonist.
Something to pick up from the discount cart to have fun for a weekend with.
ok, imo, i disagree with this video. i got DA:A today, and I'm having the time of my life with it. while the thought of playing DA:O again makes my stomach turn. the characters are great and the feeling of the game is very good. the original to me was just boring and weird to play.
How many hours does it take to get through Awakening? I'm not even close to finishing Origins yet but when I do, should i buy Awakening or just rent it and save my money for DA part 2?? (debut trailer comes out 8/17)
I don't have it yet, but it seems like an unlikely option. DA:O didn't allow you to reuse characters that had already progressed part way or finished because it would be game-breaking and they probably felt it added nothing when things had already happened to the character. How would an import feature work? Where would they fit in? It just doesn't make sense to import a character from this back into Origins.
@Darkstalion You actually can import your old character if you want. That way you can continue leveling your character and also get new specializations!
I meant from Awakening back into origins. Awakening is meant to happen after Origins, after all. It makes sense to import from Origins to Awakening but not the reverse.

So you're saying pausing the game every 2 seconds as a caster, while as a Melee character you walk up to and bash whatever you want isn't broken?
My team popped so many potions it was retarded. The AI sucks unless you plow tons of points in to command.
THE one thing that made the original game were the characters and story with the "occasional" cool spells... This expansion was a waste of money.

I am a huge fan of Dragon Age and I love the Awakening. But there are some this that I didn't like about the game:
1.) In my opinion, it as a pretty short game. (Although it's partially my fault since I went too straight to the plot. lol)
2.) I kind of would've liked it when the old characters came back as a minor character
3.) Only being able to go through the land of Amaranthine was unsatisfying, I wish the Origins places were there too.
4.) don't have conversations when talking to chara.

@tjdudangel i feel the same way. It was a good game but the first one was better. The game was too short and they didn't let you have convos with the characters like in the first game. With the old characters i feel instead of bringing back oghren (not that i didn't like him) they should have brought back either the character you romanced with or morrigan or something along those lines it would have made the game a little more interesting.

@bobsmartz lol yeah I'm right with you especially about Oghren XD There's a part in the Origins once you've defeated the Archdemon where you have a conversation with Zevran, and he says he might hang around with the Grey Wardens a bit more, and I thought that he should've been in the Awakening :P

@SethZankuten In my opinion it can be compared to neither WoW or Final Fantasy... Honestly I would say it could be compared only to other Bioware games, like KotOR or Mass Effect.. No FF game or really any other RPGs (and certainly not MMORPGs) out there really have quite the same game impacting choices of morality that Bioware brings to the table. Don't get me wrong, plenty of them try and some are decent... But none are truly on par with Bioware in my opinion. Is why I'm excited for SW:OR

@Solareffects If you do all the side quests, get all the good loot,play through all 6 of the origins and get all 4 different endings its a lot of game play. If your not into click-n-kill games with good story like Fallout and Diablo you probably got bored really fast.

I play both DA:O and WoW and i must say wow's gameplay is much more dynamic, which should be the case since you're controlling only 1 character.
I feel that warrior and rogue in DA:O are extremely boring classes with very shallow talent trees that repeats the same talents with a different name. Whats the difference between shield defense, shield cover and shield wall?

Ok first off the game is about $18 to $20 on amazon so now the games worth the money. Second If you really look at the game its actually pretty good still. The new abilities are great and the new skills are also good (and actually useful) Third

I just started playing awakening and im pretty dissapointed. It feels like you're being thrown into another story. There's just too much from the start. After I've been to the first city my journal was flooded with 20+ quests...

My only complaint about Dragon Age: no matter if you kill either just a small rat, or an enormous legion, your armor is always covered in the same amount of blood. Rather unrealistic, no?

for the ps3, xbox360 and PC..wait until they come out on disc with the main game before you pay for them as bugged DLC

hey, looks good! one critical unanswered question that are on many "Dragon Age Collector's Edition add ons" Is it incompatible with any of those or are these bugs being brought to the attention of Bioware? I think i is an important question and the reson I haven't bought the game(expansion Awakenings) is it is still unanswered.
I wish it were because looks like fun otherwise

i would like to play this but there is NO way im paying 39,99€ for an expansion i mean i bought Origins for 29,99€ why the hell would an expansion be more expensive than the game itself, sorry just not worth the money for more 10 hours of gameplay maybe?if you think about it, buying everything of dragon age(game,expansion,dlc) will make you lose about 120€ is that how games will cost in the future with this new DLC bullshit??? id rather save 10€ more and wait for mass effect 2

In the awakening u can find a high dragon in blackmarsh if u find all the dragon bones in blackmarsh. i have completed origins like 5-6 times and i want the Traverler achievement but carnt seem to get it have been to everybit of fereldon i think anyway if u wanan help me message me and ill give u my xbl gamtertag

The only boss that challenged me in Awakening was the final boss, and after I figured out how to kill it, wasn't that hard...
I had a lot of trouble with the archdemon, my Characters are meant to be able to handle picking out the most powerful enemy and killing him first, if it is a boss I usually go after the weaker enemys, but the archdemon had infinate, the only battle I had to lower the difficulty on. :(

If you played Dragon Age : Origins and loved it, the only thing I can say is do not buy this. It's an enermous let down in every aspect. Little if any imagination was used to make up the storyline, as your past decisions are not present and future decisions make little difference. Poor cast of characters crown the last adventure of the Protagonist.
Something to pick up from the discount cart to have fun for a weekend with.

ok, imo, i disagree with this video. i got DA:A today, and I'm having the time of my life with it. while the thought of playing DA:O again makes my stomach turn. the characters are great and the feeling of the game is very good. the original to me was just boring and weird to play.

I don't have it yet, but it seems like an unlikely option. DA:O didn't allow you to reuse characters that had already progressed part way or finished because it would be game-breaking and they probably felt it added nothing when things had already happened to the character. How would an import feature work? Where would they fit in? It just doesn't make sense to import a character from this back into Origins.

I meant from Awakening back into origins. Awakening is meant to happen after Origins, after all. It makes sense to import from Origins to Awakening but not the reverse.
