If you prefer recent conflicts then the one in Darfur has cost maybe 300.000 lives, but in general it's difficult to estimate total world casualties. Besides, many of these conflicts never even get mentioned in the media. Maybe we have just heard about a fraction of them....

To think that Western culture was the motive behind their attack is beyond rediculous. Again, it's not our freedoms that caused them to attack, it's our policy. This is fact.

2: You do NOT have democracy.
No nation with one person in charge (elected or not) can ever have democracy. What little you had left, was "killed" by the patriot act.

@Foreignteller Well, its a very basic fact that the US is not even in theory a democracy. It's a constitutional republic. However the important thing is that you are an incredibly controled country. You only have two partys with very little real differences in any important issues. The political left has ben viciously been persecuted for decades. u.s. didnt face even half of the german military might and suffered catastrophic casualties, ofcourse you dismiss this by watching movies like saving private ryan where the american saves the day. when in fact it was the british and the canadians holding off german panzer division so you could get your asses off the shore... hence the phrase "hollywood history" u.s. input was great but glorifying as liberators of europe is just naive... who actualy marched to berlin?

@amorrison1 The problem is that u.s. entered the war very late, in fact germany at that point was already losing. in fact it was the russians who actualy marched and conquered berlin and did the most of the heavy lifting. u.s. supplied well needed material and fresh very poorly trained men, which led to horrific casualty rates... not my country? lol we were busy defending our selves from the russians and we did it alone...

@Darusdei The problem is that Russia had just finaly managed to start to push Germany back...the Europeans were still on the defensive everywhere else. The US caused Geramany to have to open up a newer front. The Germans were not losing when we got involved...but started to lose once we were there. What horrific casualties are you talking about? We lost just a little more troops in the war then our European friends...an we fought two wars at the same time....LMAO. Cmon fool....go read...LMAO!
