  • I was there that night. I feel really old all of a sudden.

  • I was a Cold groupie. Loved them!

  • lmao Vance at the end

  • Too funny! Kevin was in my classes at UNO, and who knew Vance would go on to create "OHHHH NOOOOO, MR. BILLLLLLLL!" Wasn't a big fan at the time(too busy being a hippie, and listening to more mellow stuff)...but what a talented bunch!!

  • Babbs you're still so fine.

  • Love it, saw them a lot in Baton Rouge too!

  • I totally remember watching this!

  • Good video, thanks for posting. Remember me the old time gone also I dont live in New Orleans

I was involved in the scene as an amateur

  • Good Times. thank you Cold

  • Fuck yes! Saw them on the Riverboat President way back in '84. Good times.

  • This video is making my afternoon!!! Thanks for posting!

  • lol, at 1:35 its like Vance is doing his Daily Show audition tape 17 years early.

  • Thanks so much for posting this!!!

  • I lived in New Orleans from 1980 - 1982. Went to see these guys a bunch. Greats memories!

  • and of course dash rip rock

  • best n o band i saw back in that time was the rockabeyes great band, I also remember the times if you were at LSU

  • Oh my God!! You are a genius for putting this stuff on YouTube. One of the first shows I saw was The Cold at St Matthew's CYO on W Esplanade in Metairie. 14 yrs old. This is so good!

  • This old school as hell! I grew up in Jimmy's.

  • Great Memories... I didn't think I would find Them on here.... Thanks. I loved Jimmy's and all the great bands that played there.

  • I was there. Saw the cold many times. I moved from New Orleans after Grad from UNO in'85 but great band. Like ckrieger36 I played in a band, Jimmys and the usual places (tipitias). The early 80's where great. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES

  • what band ere you in?

  • "Taken" = 4 peice blond female lead singer/keyboards, pop, new wave, original, covers: the who, pretenders, bowie, latter version more rock fusion, played the usual places uptown, lakefront, parties.

  • OMFG!! I loved this band so fkn much!!! Seeing them at St Christophers CYO is an excellent memory of mine.

  • WOW, they were the BEST! I remember when I was in my band in the 80's ..we always thought if we can just play Jimmy's we will have "made it"..hehe!! We played the same stage as the Cold..what else could a New Orleans band wish for? hehe!:) I remember going to see them at the local CYO's too:)

  • My band did get to play at Jimmy's in the 80s and that's exactly what we thought: who needs Madison Square Garden when you can play on the same stage as the Cold?

  • What band were you in? I saw them at cyo's too, so maybe I saw you guys...

  • I was in Odd Fellow's Rest. We never played with the Cold but I knew Barbara from the different clubs we played. We started giging around '87..too late to play with the Best New Orleans band ever! hehe! I did love going to see them though!

  • yeah, i saw you guys!

  • OH, how funny! Do you remember where it was?? Boy, those were some fun times, weren't they?:))

  • i think i saw you play with The black Problem...

  • The Black Problem... Oh, gosh! Wow, memories, huh?! That's great..I wish I could remember who was in that band...I remember faces but can't place them with all the bands...guess I'm getting old..hehe! Have a super day!:)

  • The guy that started tai bo must have been into them.

  • Barbara keeps doing the same dance over and over.

I liked it when I was thirteen though, lol!

  • Brings back memories from my teen years. I'm from New Orleans and my friend turned me on to them when I was 13. They were a pretty kick ass new wave group!

  • "thanks alot"

  • MY LOVE $4$ cover for U

  • so as the youtube facefront says from the stoic frozen freezen face........

  • This band sounds pretty good. They sound like a mix of the punk band X, the Talking Heads and the B-52s.

  • nothing like the perpetualenergy machine, half way thru

  • manar what were we supposed to say about the ellen de generes oh we fucked those nipples up, too.

  • I decided to look up The Cold on here after watching Elvis Costello's I don't want to go back to Chelsea. And here they are. It is my birthday. This is the best present I got. I remember seeing this on TV. I was way too young to see them live.

  • Thanks A Lot!

  • Long live the COLD!!

  • I knew I was gay when I watched Vance Degeneris hypnotize the girls in the audience with his eyes. Little did he know he was hypnotizing me

  • so put me on your show ellen, and answer my viewer mail, and not with that staring concept that 8200 willow's spammage

  • Hey, I have a question, why did the entire special get deleted off of Googlevideo?

  • Out of courtesy to (and at the request of) the band...they apparently plan to release a DVD soon which will include the entire video.

  • Oh my God, I was looking for The Normals and got close with this tasty video. I didn't even know they did anything on TV, how weird. There's a good chance I was in the audience at Jimmy's. Boy do I feel old!

  • When this was on, I was 14 and had the TV reserved from my parents for a month before(yes, kids, only ONE tv in the house!)

I still think the Normals were a better band, though...any chance of uploading some footage of them?

  • You've made my day- thanks for posting. FLASHBACK.
