  • Bomb!!

  • I'm feel this spyt!

  • @sweetuth99 - You are getting funnier and funnier. You keep rebutting points that I haven't made (and tearing down straw men of your own construction is a tell tale sign of those who are either: hopelessly losing a debate, or cluelessly unaware of how to formulate a coherent thought/argument/response).

The more you type, the more you expose your own foolishness (let alone the name-calling nonsense).

Happy "flaming" (I thought that went out in 1999).

  • @sweetuth99 - I'm sorry. I didn't realize the fact that "the "condescension" went both ways" was an excuse for you to be an idiot. And your inability to recognize ANALOGY (in my Glenn Beck comment) as opposed to DIRECT ATTRIBUTION further speaks to the lack of comprehension and intelligence you possess.

At no point did I deny that there is "two-way" offense in the "battle of the sexes". I merely pointed out that in NO WAY has it become "tougher on men than women" in this society. You funny.

  • Comment removed

  • @sweetuth99 - Wow, dude. You obviously have no idea how ridiculous you come off, both with your condescending comments to "sultrysound" and your silly railing against " double standards that DOMINATE this society", and such.

Are you seriously proposing that it's "tougher on men"? You sound like Glenn Beck and the like, crying about how tough it is to be a white man in America.

Pretty laughable, really. But it seems you were looking for a fight with your inflammatory comments.

    Just my 2c

  • That's what the fuck I'm talking about. We've all done it.

  • no, not all of us

  • Not yet. lol

If it doesn't pertain to you then ignore it, love.

  • thats a sad thing to say

  • it's a experience that happens in a lot of women's lifves. It may be sad but it's true. i repeat, if it does not pertain to you, then ignore it.

it's a poem for crying out loud. i can relate to it.

    the end.

  • omg i loved it

  • omg i loved it

  • DAMN!!! WOWOW!!!

  • Her pain is so real that now I know how sista's feel.

  • That's a real woman!!!!!! I get so tired of hearin how a nigga did u so wrong. It's about time a real woman told it how it is. Ladies, stop fuckin with low class men (boys) and find a husband.

  • "just an average" mofo. been there...

  • Furthermore, it is also apparent that this is going no where (as I mentioned before) So of course you will have the last word as I have exhausted this poem and this conversation. You are a great debater, but I fear you may take yourself too seriously.. Now THAT is a reactionary assumption. Forgive me if I'm wrong, I leave you with this: To thine own self be true.. Recognize that there are good, bad and misunderstood in everyone.. Life will seem a little more "kumbaya". lol

  • I simply disagree. I'm not calling you silly or a caveman.. I just disagree, but YOU hurl insults. AGAIN my comments are not reactionary, they are observant. If you can't stand the reflection, don't look into the mirror.

  • And contrary to what you make think about MY relationship with men. I don't deal with BS. If he cant be straight up, he can bounce.. It took me a minute to get to this point in my life but I'm still young so thank God I didnt spend half my life figuring this out. I know now what she discovered by the end of the poem. If I'm gonna go all out for a man he will be my husband. Consequently, I dont stay in a reltionship for long.. Men seem to think sex is mandatory.. I disagree so they move on..

  • My assumption is based on what I read in your comments and the offensive tone in which you write. What I assume is not an attack on your character. There are plenty that believe they are rarely wrong.

That said, I'm not a feminist, I a woman with the ability to rationalize. At the end of the day we all live in a man's world whether you would be willing to admit that or not so if a woman wants to vent about a man that aint worth the time it takes to blink who are we to judge her?

  • I've heard plenty men tell women to be women

I never said I was the deciding factor in whether you are wrong or right. It merely becomes apparent that you deciding you're wrong doesnt happen often

AND I surround myself with men who tell me the truth (whether I want it or not) I much rather be upset at having to deal with the truth then be hurt by uncovering a lie. Seems to me like you've never heard more than one type of woman's perspective. Maybe you should be grateful..

  • contd... Women are better at expressing themselves, we are also more emotional so it makes sense that when we write a poem, it's about a man we loved and lost or still love but cant have, or love and live with, or have walked away from. Men could write about this but the men on dpj chose not to.

And there are PLENTY men walking around ignorant to how stupid they sound trust me on this...

  • All of that and you're still to the left of the point. I could care less about the percentages. The point is both men and women cause relationships to fail. Both men and women live under double standards that favor one side or the other. What ever the "numbers" are we ALL have been hurt in one way or another.

  • Plus, listening a little more carefully to the poem, they (the women) were amen-ing to the things all women allow non committing men to do. They were laughing at themselves. How could you mistake this for a we hate men convention?

  • I imagine we sound as stupid as y'all sound sometimes..

Anyway, man enough only meant "adult". Sometimes assuming the responsibility pays. Like I said before, had he walked away, the poem would be solely about her. Women know what they want.. Well-- I do, and while I'll never be a man, you'll never be a woman so this arguement will truly go now where. It's apparent that you feel there is no way you could be wrong, but you won't allow yourself to hear how both parties contribute.

  • And again you're assuming I watch those shows.. I could care less about what other women think about relationships when they arent even in successful ones. I wish I could show the poets I'm talking about but they are amatuer poets and don't have tv spots and such.. They should though. I know double standards exist but feminism started because women were not being treated fairly. Now, women are going overboard, I agree but there are double standards that favor men as well (created by men).

  • It takes two. All of this could have been avoided if she accepted the relationship for what ot was or if he, knowing she was in love with him, was man enough to walk away. This isn't oprah-- Oprah probably would have blamed the man entirely.. lol.

I'm saying that in this situation they both were wrong. I agree that sometimes it is entirely the woman's fault but not all the time. Stupid, take-what-i-want-and-leave men do exist, but they have female counterparts as well.

  • Watchin it again...this poem is STILL tight!

  • But he was wrong, in that, he didn't leave her alone. He stuck around, used her and then left.. So he was wrong too, and because this is her poem, she called him on it. I have heard male spoken word artists recite poetry about backstabbing women and women who think beauty is an occupation. I don't complain, I accept that women like that exist. We agree that she was an idiot, but that changed. It's her right to write what she feels about men, The same thing goes for a male poet.

  • Those women probably reacted like that because they could identify.. Whose fault is that? Not the poet's. After she said the nigga was average, she said she was average too.. That or was not living up to her full potential. Either way the poet realized she fell in love with a man who didnt want love. He was perfectly honest but she saw what she wanted, so he played the part to get what he wanted. When he left her she was angry, and that's where the ranting comes from. Both of them were wrong.

  • It's not fair to make comments that put all females in the same category. Not all women thrive on drama. There are plenty differences between the sexes. I'm just saying this poem was one of the rare poems where the women owns her mistake. Her plight isn't uncommon but the poem was about her and the man she behaved foolishly for.

  • i think about most of the people that commented missed the point of the poem

  • I have to disagree. Sometimes people (whether you're a woman or man) need to hear a song, or a poem, or speech before they realize what they are doing wrong. Love truly can be blinding and this poem is about what she dealt with, what she came to realize and in the end what she took away from the experience. She learned her lesson. There is nothing negative about the poem. This was about one man, one woman, and one lesson.

  • Biggggggggg

  • Dana is THE truth! We women gotta take responsibility for being too available, too needy, too scared to let the otha women get em'- and yes if he was an average dude, maybe we some average females!- The truth hurt a little, don't it? I love her!

  • Dana very clearly stated she is not the victim and acknowledged she could have done things differently and then the break up would have been "one of those things".. How then, could you say she was bitching and whining. She also said either SHE wasn't living up to HER potential or SHE was just an average chick. If anything she opened women's to the control they do have in all those messed up relationships they "complain" about..

  • You Go Gurl! You tellin the truth!

  • Everyone has given time and attention to someone undeserving of it. Male or female is irrelevant. Some hold it in, some let it out, and Dana let it out. Loved it

  • GOOD POINT!!!!....but they hella needy at times and to me that's bitchin'....they just don't voice it as much as we do....everybody complains alright...it's just women VOICE it and men AVOID it

  • but all that is so true...men bitch and whine too...and if you don't notice...there's men cheering for her too...there's nothin stoppin a man from goin up the there...the bitchin and whining goes both ways...no ones wrong or right...casue in the end...we all in the same boat...

  • goin thru it rite now
