So like is TCU a high school or a university? I any believe all you "adults" saying that this is "gay" "embarrassing" etc. I don't go to TCU, but I'm sticking up for this. You all need to get off your high horses and stop caring about what other people think. If you don't like it, don't be a dick about it, just ignore it.
NCAA recognize Quidditch? Not that I'd be for or against it, but I'd keep or form your own Quidditch College governing body. The NCAA regulates things that shouldn't be all that regulated while also not policing what should be no brainers - at least imo.
Do you really want the NCAA coming down on one of your teams because some player played with an illegal broom or uniform? I think bringing the NCAA into this would lose it's entertainment value.
Listen. For those of you who do not know the game or the people who play it, please don't make fun of it. This group has done nothing to offend you or TCU's name. They are students (just like those from teams across the country and the world) who enjoy doing this and harm no one by it. So please, don't make fun of something that you don't understand. That's pretty immature. If you wanna talk about it, feel free to reply to me.
@skydaplaya6 I've never played Quidditch myself, and I know it's very popular. As I am myself an athlete and an inventor of a new sport people sometimes put down what they don't understand, don't like or they think they're being funny. But think of the people making fun of you in terms of sports. Ignore their comments and/or feed of them to make yourself better. :)
I would like to add that a few months ago a school in New York hosted the first ever transatlantic game. Like it or not, it's real, and it's growing. You're more than welcome to make fun if you want. But I challenge you: come play one game. Heck, watch a game. And I don't mean on the internet, or through someone else's commentary. Go to the field and watch. We play a combination of rugby, basketball, soccer and dodgeball, and we do it all one handed. If that isn't athletic, I don't know what is.
Nearly every major school in the US has a quidditch team, like Texas, LSU, Tech, A&M, Princeton, Arkansas... just to name a few. It's just as serious a sport as any other. Why should you be ashamed of something that is making students happy? TCU is broadening it's horizons, and bringing students together by having a quidditch team. If you don't like it, don't play it. But STFU and let us enjoy it.
this is just embarrassing for us to have on the internet. trying to raise our reputation as a great classy school and this shit pops up. dear lord please stop this nonsense
