  • My old man was in combined ops In WW2 he thought the RMs were good but the Army commandos were better

  • "Best" is relative. Seems like nobody ever understands that.

  • Ex 59 Commando Royal Engineers I am Phil Cameron. You may see a photo of me 1979 at Barnstaple when I use to box.Check Philcoool on here you can see plenty of old boxing video and what I do for work now.

  • hi hate it when u have americans (some of them) say their green beret are the best in the world...........

NO. the green beret have the latest equipment in the world. but the training the SAS/SBS do is out of this world. dont get me wrong im not being disrespectful to the green beret(and if i am sorry) im just saying the british special forces are the best trained in the world

  • @RFCmack The Royal Marines do come under special forces.

  • @connormcj25 no thay dont

  • @wiganerrmc ahh sorry. not a special force. what i meant was they are an elite group of commandos 'specialised' in amphibious tactics.

  • @connormcj25 ye

  • I've been training relentlessly for four years now in preparation to join these guys, yet I still feel as though I'm not yet ready to be a Commando.

  • To all Americans saying British suck blah blah blah.. a New Zealand solider who was in the British paratroopers was killed a couple of days ago by friendly fire from a US jet...R.I.P

  • @redemptiongameing Always seems to be the yanks don't it?

  • The UK trains the shit out of it Marines..... Coming from an American

  • my old troop boos the tree sniper in there ......... ah face of the past

  • THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE BEST SIR !!!!!

  • can anybody tell me with a genuine answer ofcourse, you can obviously do your pcoy to get jump wings, can probs do a marine comando course. can you do them both? or because of the massive rivalry with each other they not really allow it?

  • @grandillusional

anyone can do the all arms commando course including women....I don't think a para would want towalk into lympstone though...their training is good enough anyway...and they would go back to their parent unit with a commando dagger on their shoulder....not good

  • @majorgeyser In correct the women did NOT do the full royal marine commando course... that was just bull. One woman didnt do the 'smarty tubes' the other couldnt get over the walls.

  • The 1st Battalion the Parachute Regiment is not infantry but special forces support battalion.2 and 3 para r airborne infantry and from there go on to the 1st battalion. The paras do commando type training and work with the commando brigade

  • Im 31 now and work in IT, if I could ever go back and change anything in my life, I would have joined the Forces. I always kept looking at the Royal Marines when I was 18 too....

Dont live to regret it like I did :(

  • What percent of Royal Marines are parachute qualified? No question they kick ass.

  • @McDago100

    10% last time I checked

  • If I'm American, If I moved to the UK could I join the RMC

  • @leatherface12345 No. You have to have had lived here for 5 years first before you can join.

  • @leatherface12345

If you got a UK citizenship you could

  • Navy is by far the most physical torture you will ever feel in your life, They try to make you fail. This is still physical torture, but its not Navy Wise.

  • if your a RM is it easy to get wings after?

  • @Miles12345671 Why would you want to join the RM if you want wings?

  • @PureJockPureBrit well i wanted to be in the paras but when i saw that marines could get wings too i figured that i could have the best of both.

  • @Miles12345671 Fair enough. But when you join an elite regiment, you normally join it and stick to it. If you want the chance to parachute at some point in your military career, join the Paras. You'll get that chance far less in the RM. But I don't advise not joining the RM and then trying to get your wings after simply so you can flaunt them around, showing how your more "elite" than everyone else because you have "best of both". Boys in the RM won't take kindly to that. ;)

  • SBS are NOT better trained then any other speacial force. British marines get 'brainwashed' into thinking they are elite.

7.62mm bullet will knock down and kill a marine just like any other soldier. Thinking you are 'elite' could get you and your comrades killed.

  • @yambok Thinking you are "elite" is what makes the difference between running from combat and sticking to your training. The Royal Marines are elite. They're built upon aggression, and that is what they do best. Believe it or not - soldiers die, and a 7.62 is indescriminate in who it hits. I'll just tell you something though - there will be a lot more 5.56 slamming into targets when the Marines are about.

  • A chef doesn't have to be a commando, I mean

  • @Combatripper1 in the marines you are a marine 1st & a chef 2nd, in the falklands the rm chef was engaging argentine defences with rpgs & small arms fire then went on to prepare the grub for his comrades

  • Getting a special training as a "Chef"??? WTF??? GIve me a break - why the hell should a guy beating himself through such a hardass selection just to end up in a kitchen fighting with a frying pan??? That's bullshit!!!!

Don't get me wrong - a good meal is essential for a good soldier and cooks are very very important - but a chef doesn't have to a cook!!!!

  • What's the Latin they're using? for the By land and by sea?

  • @UnitedProviences

    Per Mare Per Terram

  • i live in greece and my mum is british,my passport says i'm a british civilian is it posible for me to become a royal marine?? anyone with an answer please answer me

  • @mikeMOrocks, If you're a British citizen or in a allied country, yes.

  • @thanx for replying

  • cool Go commandos

  • Anyone know how long you have to wait after applying before you can do POC?

  • royal navy all the way................. my oldest son is in now and youngest son will be joining him within the next few months. a father could not be more proud.

  • Can an American join if he gets a British Citizenship?

  • yh if youve been living here for 3 yrs

  • There is one thing I av noticed about the royal marines wen I worked with them in Afghanistan attached to them they are one big family and they treat everyone equal because of the training they go through and where ever they go they watch each others backs and they go through he'll together to help each other ad becuase of tht I av

Requested a transfer to the royal marines becuase I see a promising future in the corps

  • Paras V Marines. Theres no argument really. Tough as fuck paras are but so are bootnecks.

BUT.. any army soldier (or Marine) can get winged. Paras are to all intents and purposes just another Army Regiment (albeit tougher) cos they no longer drop in anywhere by air. The Royals are also highly trained in amphibious warfare and are a self-sufficient organisation. So marines are the best, no argument.. but Paras are tough fuckers too

  • which one are or were you. a para or a marine .

  • @reggiecry take it your an ex royal then ?

  • @reggiecry SAS are Paras. SFSG, 1 Para, (a battlion of Paras + 100 RM's and 100 RAF Reg personnel)!

85% of SAS are Para/Airborne troops.

Once again, RMs prove they have a chip on their shoulder about the Paras!

The Army is now the senior service, this means that MOD resources are prioritised to the SAS and Parachute Regiment.

RM are a naval service. Paras specialise in desert, jungle, arctic warfare, and airborne insertion into battle.

  • @Whatever81417 Actually the MARINES specialise in desert, jungle, and arctic warfare. They are Land AND Sea soldiers. Also approx 58% of SAS are ex Paras not 85%.

  • @reggiecry finally someone who has sense!!!! both are amazing, i just cba typing as much as you :D

  • @reggiecry Wrong! Marines are NOT the best

  • I cannot wait to do this, dropped college because I hated it, but RM is all I think about now!! Wouldn't mind being in the SBS but there not 1 of the best for nothing!! Getting your Green Beret has got to be 1 of the best feelings possible!!

  • same i dropped collage to join royal marines i do a test in next tuesday

  • ive got my recruitment test on the 12th april! got phone call today about it :D

  • when did you applie to the marines

  • erm went to a appointment in london, watched vid, took our questions an gave us booklet an there was form in there, an sent it off about a week or 2 ago..and yer it all begins here!

  • @larylilshit1 If you want to keep your hands below your head, make your beret Maroon Red!

  • great video,i have a great respect for the british military.i served in the us navy 1978-1982.i served in the amhipious navy, most my time was with us marines

    my salute to all brits

  • i start training in summer 2010, cant wait!

  • Go for it. Remember. Head down. Mouth Shut. Ears open and ask the question after you have thought about it properly. Very good luck

  • mean motherfuckers

  • do u have to b in the navy before hand to be in the royal marines

  • Nope.

  • who is a better force, the royal marines or the paras

  • No straight answer.

    But I'd say RM ^^

  • sbs and sas some tiems work togther but they never work with armicans

  • QUOTE "The closest thing to a RM Cmndo is a Navy Seal... and even they dont scratch the surface of 32 weeks basic training + 3 months advanced Ops

  • @ollygc I used to say this, but Navy Seals isnt a basic training you have previous military service and they both do completely different jobs

  • SAS & SBS are the only forces that are better than RM's.

  • Paras are not better. They are different. Ive looked into joining both paras and marines. The marines apealed more too me. RMAD on the 10th.

  • Can you explain to me how paras are better?

Because im pretty sure a fair few Royal Marines are trained as air assault! isnt that what the paras do?

and im sure marines are also trained to do beach assault too amongst other amphibious roles.

How can the paras possibly be better when the marines can do exactly the same job as them?!

  • @pimptastic666 I have my PRMC tuesday, id say the RMs and Paras are both elite and might even come down to the choice of which color beret you prefer

  • I know they are both elite mate!

but RMC get more training packages which train them for different roles, they can be deployed by parachute if need be! ull not see paras doin beach assaults

  • @pimptastic666 True true :p

  • How did your PRMC go, mate?

  • aww man i got a shoulder Injury on the pull ups, 5 pull ups n i would of passed...='[ gutted i have to retake in 3 months and the PRMC is harder than i though but you get through it

  • Oh yes you will, 2 Para did it for real at San Carlos

  • they walked on to the beach

  • Paras aren't better. That's been proven 100's of times. Paras are fucking brilliant, no doubt. But they've got nothing on Royal Marines Commandos. Hence the name, Commando.

  • Would the Royal Marines be amongst the best troops in the world?

  • they are

    best of the best

  • Got my medical on 20th :D

  • hey guys, can you help me out what are all of your opinions.. like what are stronger men the RMC or parachute regiment? cheers guys

  • marines are nails

  • In my opinion it would be the Royal Marines, my grandad was a Royal Navy Clearance diver and he said that the Royal Marines are some of the best in the world. Hope this helps!

  • Ahhh that has got to be the biggest debate going on in the british armed forces, both have to under go extrme physical test and training as well as mental test and training. from my personal exprince the paras are tough and the rmc are tough but id have to say the paras are tougher but if you had to land by sea rmc and if you had to come in airbone paras but while on the ground they are both brillant at their jobs! They have a big amount of respect for each other as well as friendly banta!

  • i wanna join 15 already started training the sittups press ups and pull ups are easy for me its just the running but even then i can run a mile in 5mins 30 so shouldnt be a problem if i pace myself

  • im 16 and im trying to join, only up to the rt stage of it though.

and richeeeee to get in u need to pass a fitness test of

    80 situps in 2 mins

60 press ups in 2 mins

    6 pull ups

and run 3 mile, the first 1.5 in under 12.5 mins then after 1 min break u need to run the other 1.5 in less than 10 mins

  • u sure about this info and im guessin this is PRMC

  • Thats fucking easy aint it....! i thought it would have been alot harder then that..!

  • No im 22 and ive just done my prmc, start training in jan. theres lads of all ages from 16 to 31...

  • go on the royal marines offical website it has all you need to know on it, including everything you will do over the 32 weeks of training.

  • Hi Bear I advise you to not let those instructors push you around. If they shout at you , you shout right back

They will respect you for it

  • Hi Guys. believe me. If you shout back at Staff............. as Sgt Hartman says in FMJ .......... You will be in a world of shit !! believe me, I 've seen it and you do not want to be on the receiving end.. After that, go for it. As for being a Nod or Yo....... again....... if you think you have it...... go for it. The very best too you all

  • They have not heard me in a temper . I can be quite sarcastic

  • what happens when he shout fmj dos he beat them or worse

  • Royal Netherlands Marine Corps!!

  • NAILS !

  • they are commandos? so their training is equivalent to SBS or SAS?

  • SBS are Royal marine Commandos but better trained there special forces SAS are Army special forces.

  • It doesn't matter who you have served with in order to get into special forces. There are plenty of ex Marines in the SAS

Royal Marines are Commando trained, not special forces but it isn't very far off. They still go through the hardest basic military training in the world.

  • SBS tend to recruit royal marines really whilst SAS will recruit para's but any of them can volunteer for any

  • not quite, its hard but Speacial forces is VERY harder lol

  • they shouldve put and the worlds worst pay on the end. its shite

  • lads dont fucking gob off bout the u.s marines unless youve worked with em their good lads. very proffessional.

  • I recently signed up to be a marine i was thinking about being a normal infantry but the marines have the best fun.

    British Army;

    "Be The Best."

  • can't wait to join em, truly the elite, all the best lads

  • I am a United States Marine.

I am glad to have you gentlemen as our ally.

Anywhere you men go, we'll go.

    Anywhere we go, you'll come.

    *Semper Fidelis*

    OORAH!

  • These guys definitely look twenty times more professional than the US Marines...

  • i just did RMAD today was quaily good luck to any lads joining !

  • ok thanks

  • are these guyz similar to the dutch comandos??

  • I don't know too much about the Dutch Commandos. I do know that they have worked side by side with the Royal Marines for hundreds of years so I'm guessing there is quite a lot of similarity.

  • am still training

  • i know a few mates going in in feb, good luck to you. Im going in for RT end of March :D

  • Really? I start RT on 16th Feb in 984 troop. Are they on that date?
