  • what the hell is wrong with people who dislike this????

  • The this song!!!!!!

  • Hell Yea! 1000 likes!!! no better version than the original!

  • it is excellent ,so beautiful,so true

  • I love men who can sing their hearts out!

  • When live was just as amazing, if not better than the album version

  • love it still after all these years...touches my heart...beautiful harmony...and heartfelt...

  • This, my friends, was REAL talent..instead of the hype, special effects and crap they use today. ONLY music like this could touch your soul..so sad they don't make music like this anymore...

reminds me so much of younger days!!

  • Simplesmente Genial!!

  • what a powerful soulful song-didnt get better than this in their day

  • There will never be another Teddy , one of the best voices of all times

  • One of the best songs ever recorded, in my opinion

  • It's amazing listening to this music (and other songs I grew up listening to my parents listen to) because if you let the current rap scene, the media and internet trolls tell it, black men want to rape and kill you.

  • Why can't today's music devoid of hatred and cursing. Why can't it be as wholesome as the 60's and 70's. Listening to music is relaxation and feeling good and feeling love, not being aggravated and agitated.

  • @55rjblue Well said!!

  • Os adolecentes de hoje não sabem o que é musica de verdade...simplesmente linda.

  • Ao vivo e a cores, os adolecentes de hoje não sabem o que é musica de verdade...

  • Teddy Pendergrass made this song what it is! R.I.P Teddy...we miss you!

  • the blue notes replaced teddy pandergrass right

  • Theodore you were outstanding in this video and your career. Thank God for your talent.

I saw you many times. You were right on your game everytime. We miss you my Gullah brother.

  • Hmmnn... always love seeing how artists took care of their appearance in those days. Nice song!

  • what a great strong voice teddy pendergrass had some folks who don't know any better think harold melvin was doing the lead singing since the group was named after him but the real fans know better.

  • TP, Rest in Peace

  • Rest in peace teddy p

  • I miss you Teddy, oh Teddy, your voice is ever stunning, ever great in Heaven and Earth!!!

  • mmmmmm Teddy!!

  • CIARA THE THEIF!!! lol.

  • how can you not love this

  • Harold Melvin died in 1997. That beautiful and talented man would be 72 today.

  • This song's is beautiful, H.Melvin rocks, but I guess it wouldn't be a hit without the support of the orchestra in the background. (GILBERTO SAUGEN from Brazil)

  • harold Melvin had one hell of a voice

  • @MrSirDel

He did not see this, it was the late great Teddy Pendergrass

  • @MrSirDel Teddy Pendergrass is actually the lead singer in this fabolous group.

  • 'whohoo. love the song. and who knew midriff exposure went back that far.

  • this song change me from a youg kid toa men in 7th grade till this day i sing it to my grand sond son now two yrs old

  • I watched this show every Saturday morning.I am who I am now.A love junkie for life

  • This music is THE TRUTH! #however...

I'm real mad at dude's shirt with the nipple hanging out and that young ass shirt Teddy has on with the tux tail on the back.

These Negroes are dressed like Bubblelicious, Gay Pride Cheerleaders. If they tried to walk down the street dressed like that anywhere in America people would be killin' em just like Antonio Fargas in "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka" when he got out of prison wearing those stacks with the goldfish in them! #dayum!

  • @MTXSHO9732vV8SHO lol. I was wondering the same thing about their clothes. Look like suspects to me. lol. only joking...I just saw a video with Teddy Pendergrass with a perm. I couldn't believe it. Nevertheless, he was the best singer. I'm not hating just observing.

  • @spiritualwoman1 Those clothes look like Prince made them. I know they're not happy about wearing that crap either. They look hella sweet in a Sesame Street kind of way. Beyonce, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Pink and Lady Gaga should do a remake of this song and shoot a vid with the same clothes!

  • @MTXSHO9732vV8SHO: Obviously you did not grow up in the 1970's or you would have made such a juvinile and ignorant comment. Sorry that not as fabulously dressed as Rihanna, Beyonce, Pink, and Lady Gaga, but these men were about SOUL MUSIC. Al the ladies you mentioned could only dream to have the vocal abilities and talent of someone like the late Teddy Tendergrass (even though I also find it beyond stupid to compare a legendary male vocal R&B group to those simple broads you mentioned above).

  • @MTXSHO9732vV8SHO: ...and yes I did have a few typos, but I think you GET the point and I was pissed off. You weren't there in the 70's, that was the style back then, and they relied on talent, not shock value, when performing. Something NONE of those silly bitches like Beyonce or Rihanna would know anything about.

  • @MTXSHO9732vV8SHO HA ! People of the future will be laughing at the stuff entertainers wear today, and you'll be so mad at them, telling them they don't know what culture was like back in 2011. As a seventies kid, I won't get mad atcha, I'll just wait for that day and watch you bubble and steam ! heh !

  • @andrewfrancis74 Slow down Sauce Money... I'm 44. As in 13 years away from retirement aka born in the 1960's. My Pops rocked a few butterfly collars in the 70's but that nipple hanging out is WAY over the top. These so called fashion consultants dressing entertainers has been an ongoing problem for a few decades now.

  • @MTXSHO9732vV8SHO OK, sorry for talking so fast.

I just accepted that that was how entertainers dressed. Didn't affect me then.It looks way out NOW, but....

I think you were still kinda young when this was out, so maybe you didn't really catch the wave? I didn't know there was a decades-long problem, so (I'm asking) did entertainers over the years not really wear good stuff?

The nipple hanging out; people in the seventies didn't "focus" on nipples of men - a shirt was off, it was off.

  • @andrewfrancis74 Well... Check all the Doo Whop groups regardless of color. Check the early pre 1968 Motown album artwork or performances. They were ALWAYS suited and booted.

Things changed after "The Summer of Love"/Woodstock and all that and artists I'm sure felt some pressure to change with the times perhaps so their audience could identify with them maybe. Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes were a world class group of singers.

  • @MTXSHO9732vV8SHO Summer of Love was the turning point ?See what you mean.

    cool, bro.

  • A long with Marvin Jr. of the Dells the best males singers of all time

  • Maaannn!!! Check the afro's in the audience...

  • @Sound4daMasses1 Remember the picks!?!? =8-O

  • 5 dislikes must have never never ever knew Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes by now lol

  • ALL HATE'N to the side....Teddy P is sporting that PRESS & CURL!!!! My friends mom use to wear her hair like that. (We use to call it a "SNATCH BACK). R.I.P Teddy P.

  • 5 dislikes? Who could possibly dislike this song? I guess there's no accounting for taste, huh?

  • CLASSIC SHIT AND IMA 80'S BABY

  • Saw them in Detroit in '73 with a good friend, Terry.... FANTASTIC... What else needs to be said ?

  • Genius! Sing it TP!

  • Amazing song! And so many fro's!

  • ...what's even more amazing is that Teddy was only 21 when he was singing that song. Twenty-one with a voice like that, can you imagine that?? RIP TP

  • the outfits are amazing lol

  • Why is Teddy's stomach out? (0,0) I guess it was fashion back then!

  • @pleezer10

    Maybe he's pregnant.

  • @museack idk about that but what I do know is those are some ugly ass suits. I mean one has his nipple out and I think all of them have some sort of tail going on in the back.

  • it`s real music!!!

  • i love this song

  • da fuk are they wearing???????

  • @staciejwill Well...it was 1972 lol

  • Wow.. True classic...... I love this music.. I use alot of samples from 70's music in my own songs. Wish i grew up in this era....

  • Teddy Pendergrass had one of the most beautiful, soulful voices I've ever heard...incredible. Is that Al Jarreau in lavender (second from right)? Sure looks like him, but I don't remember his being part of the group.

  • One of the greatest mature love songs to ever be written. It's hard to believe that Mr. Pendergrast was only 20 something when he recorded this. This is a song from an old soul to his lover. Beautiful.

  • エアギターならぬエアウター!口パクってイメージ悪いけどエアウターなら許せる笑

  • Cut big spots n they close

  • Great

  • SOME SONGS JUST CUT TO THE BONE (OR THE HEART) AND THIS IS CERTAINLY ONE OF THEM. THE EMOTION AND THE LYRICS COULDN'T BE ANY MORE CLEARER. WHAT A CLASSIC!

  • What year did this song come out?

  • My mom was dying w/ cancer and I sung this to her.....

  • what good is a love affair,if we cant see eye to eye...real shit right there

  • I love this song.

  • he sings beautifully but the rest of the group is a bit boring! I prefer Simply Red cover.

  • @dollyta007 You should be shot

  • OHHH LAWD HAV' MERCY!! Teddy P!!

  • They don't make songs like this anymore. Raw emotion.

  • Mutton Chops sideburns? Very 70's. Thank God I wouldn't ever be caught dead wearing them on my face. By the way,Nice tune guys.

  • Still great to hear a real souln singer like TP brilliant......

  • Third guy from the left, is, Teddy Pendergras, plus, the third guy from right, also is T.P.. WOW!! Look at him, WOW!! No one could sing the Blues, like T.P.

  • Third guy from the left, is, Teddy Pendergras. WOW!! Look at him, WOW!!

  • Who is who in order from left to right?

  • @tamerswan This was my retreat from the crappy acid guitar & drum crud from back then. You can hear the artistry in every moment of this song! I've added this back to my 1972 playlist. My 700 playlists are a tribute to music like this, the best of a century from around the world & 112 lists for every year since 1900 let you listen like you've stepped back in time! chuck

  • " Philly Soul" baby !!!!!

  • love the song but hate that nipple showing shirt

  • IS THAT HUEY LEWIS SINGING??

By the way, Justin Biever is the only one who doesn't like this. Sorry for him.

  • @DARIUSMXA It's Teddy Pendergrass on lead..

  • IS THAT HUEY LEWIS SINGING??

  • what is the name of the song that is played at the last part when you see the animation of the train.

  • They were DAMM Good. They sent me through high-school.God Bless Them.

  • so many fro's up in that joint! classic x

  • willie mason and cleo msdowell opn the right.... just kidding They are PHENOMINAL

  • Man I CANNOT wait for the bio-pic on Teddy's life...Tyrese ( Teddy Pendergrass' god son) is portraying him......How ironic, because I feel that Tyrese IS the next Teddy P.

  • Bemærk de meget stramme bukser.....lol

  • classic <3 love these guys.

  • LOOOOVED IT

  • I FUCKIN LOVE THIS SONG

  • Well blow me over with a bloody feather ... in all the years ive loved this utterly beautiful song i NEVER knew Teddy sang lead, or that he was infact in HM and the blue notes ... is that Teddy lip sincing here?

  • @asceses YEAH, i'm 42 and never knew that until after his death...crazy...now i'm getting more HM and the notes cd's!!!!!!!!!

  • @SDMFAnthony01 ha!! Thanks, its nice to know im not the only one ;)

  • damn rockin those outfits aren't they?, great colors... but even better song... one of my favs.....

  • just think, teddy was 22 when he sang on this

  • the bluenotes made teddy and look at those guys they are singing there hearts out .............lol.......thanks bluenotes

  • Love the song but I hate the outfits. He showing his titty nipples & its just wrong!

  • @Sexsess Why is it wrong? Don't men go shirtless at the beach (and nearly everywhere else) without complaint? It just happened to be a 'style' of clothing back in the very early 70's when designers experimented with fabrics and colours (notice the colour-blocking?) Those outfits probably cost a fortune at the time too, and were designed for comfort/ease of movement onstage. You weren't even born yet. I might not like styles from long before MY time but geez, cut them some slack. It isn't today.

  • My favorite part is "and woman youve got yours too"

  • This is good music. As far as the outfits go the only thing I can say is at least they covered their asses,LMBO.

  • cooler than cool these men are and were at the top of their game woo ya..

  • This song will live forever because it is a song that could never be dated! Love the group and the song!

  • if you dont know me by now.... WOW this is hot on the market. i think it came out in 2010, right

  • Where is Jeremiah Cummings in this video. Is he the one wearing pink?

  • Bernie, I know your jammin' that Gospel music in heaven now , Rest in Peace, my old friend

.... @ vidform , That's Bernie in blue with the windows on his shirt who wore the most wild shit anyone ever thought of... he never let his head get too big though, to remember all of his friends and family... He passed away on Sun. and will be missed by all who knew him and all who loved his music....

  • @bluenotesharp I hadn't thought about bernie in years. suddenly last night I did a google search on him....for no apparent reason.....it just popped into my head. you can imagine how stunned i was when the top story was his obit, just released.

I would like to think it was him contacting me to say goodbye.

  • This has been a sad week. First Teena Marie and now Bernie Wilson. There is only one original member of this group left.

    RIP Bernie.

  • @soulgirl66 I knew Bernie. Met him through a Roy Webb who used to do public relations in NYC. Bernie was a terrific guy with a positive outlook. We once met for a drink at the Ritz Carlton....when it still existed....bar in Boston. He waltzed in wearing a floor length mink. The look on the faces of everyone there is burned in my mind forever.

Hey Bernie, thanks for the laughs and for showing them how its done!

  • May he rest in peace. I was RAISED on their music. The group will never be forgotten!

  • It,s sad that the backgound singers don't get reconigtion for all the great music in the world. I feel bad that I knew the group and have all their albums, but didn't know Him, but I still enjoyed His contribution to this great group. RIP Mr. Bernard Wilson.

  • Bernie Wilson past away, 64 years old :-( so sad

    RIP.

  • ...and the MC is Don Cornelius, of course...

  • From left to right: Larry Brown, Bernie Wilson, Teddy Pendergrass, Lloyd Parks, Harold Melvin. TP and BW have just passed on...

  • Breaking News: Singer Bernie Wilson, of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, died at 64

  • This is the original version recorded in 1972. Remade several times , most notably by Simply Red,

  • 右から2人目の男、今、アメリカでキリスト教原理主義団体の教祖やってて超・大金持ちになってます。

  • I'd like to know who designed and made their clothes. Pretty cool actually. I wouldn't wear the pants because they are very unforgiving. But if the jackets had a few tweaks, they might work. I like how the guy in blue (second from our left) has square holes cut out around his right nibble and arm. He's also wearing a huge gold medallion around his neck. The fashions of the '60s and '70s had so much expression. I wonder if a museum keeps their clothes or if they can be found in a thrift store.

  • @vidform -u aint never lie 'bout those pants!

  • @vidform custom

  • @vidform there 2small it looked kinda gay

  • @vidform I'm sure you can find some at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

  • you never never never never never know me

  • Never, never, never, never ....................

  • RIP Teddy Pendergrass. There will never be another like him.

  • @tvwatcher35 and R.I.P Harold too
