Things changed after "The Summer of Love"/Woodstock and all that and artists I'm sure felt some pressure to change with the times perhaps so their audience could identify with them maybe. Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes were a world class group of singers.

@Sexsess Why is it wrong? Don't men go shirtless at the beach (and nearly everywhere else) without complaint? It just happened to be a 'style' of clothing back in the very early 70's when designers experimented with fabrics and colours (notice the colour-blocking?) Those outfits probably cost a fortune at the time too, and were designed for comfort/ease of movement onstage. You weren't even born yet. I might not like styles from long before MY time but geez, cut them some slack. It isn't today.

We once met for a drink at the Ritz Carlton....when it still existed....bar in Boston. He waltzed in wearing a floor length mink. I'd like to know who designed and made their clothes. Pretty cool actually. I wouldn't wear the pants because they are very unforgiving. But if the jackets had a few tweaks, they might work.
