It's too bad they messed this version up. I have it on the Colecovision and that version is a lot of fun. I also notice there's barely any music in this version! That's a shame; the music in the Colecovision version is so cute and charming

So, this same game - as in graphically the same - is on the Atari 8 bit computers (XL series, XEGS, etc). But it uses the standard 2600 controller. So if you take out the issue of the 5200 controller - which again is what this review is about - what do you think of the game itself?

Seems like every one of your 5200 "game" reviews are more about the controller than the game itself. Yes, you need the controller to play the game, but you put too much emphasis on the controller in many of your reviews, IMO.

Hmm, i would have given a slightly different review. I got pretty good as a kid playing with the joystick, but i could kick serious butt with the numeric keypad.  The key was to use your thumbs like when you are texting. The numeric keypad buttons usually worked as they wern't used as much as the start/pause/reset buttons and the fire buttons. Worked great and i loved this version.

My mom used to play too and she wasnt too bad, though i could usually kill her off by yelling "jump!" when a car was coming. If i left her alone though, she did pretty good.

My family was pretty big into Atari. We had a 2600, at least two different diskette-based systems (one was the 800), and yes, the 5200 and it's awful controller.

And I watched this review, remembering that we got my grandma to try a video game. Frogger... on the 5200. I remember hearing her "oh shoot" &c. coming down the hallway at about 1 in the morning, she just couldn't sleep until she got it (she never did). Thinking back, that was cruel of us. I should remind her of that experience, ha!

Most people would not play this game with the 5200 controller anymore. Now with the ability for all atari games to be played on a good controller and your PC, this review is not accurate. This game at the time was the only Frogger that looked and played like the original Frogger game.

Seriously. That is the most F'ed up thing ever for the control scheme. You have to point the limpdick joystick AND press the button to jump!?

I had this game for the Atari 5200 and had no problems with the controls. I actually enjoyed the way it was setup. 5200 controllers were my favorite at that time; I liked the way they looked and felt.

Space Dungeon is another good game for the system.
