If you look at the German scene, you have bands like Kreator, Destruction and Sodom who, at a very early stage, reminded of the so called founders of thrash metal in the US. However, none of them lived up to the quality standards of Slayer or Dark Angel... do not compare Ventor from Kreator to Glenn Hoglan of Dark Angel or... Satan Forbid...Dave Lombardo of Slayer...

Dumbass, Thrash started with Overkill, then to Metallica/Dave Mustaine, then the big four, then the other's that were more aggressive whence the Big 4 returned to the Bay Area. Destruction, Kreator, and Sodom are part of the Tuetonic Thrash scene, in Germany. I guess you know that bit, but Thrash started with Metallica becoming famous, then everyone else stepped up their game and became good, except Slayer,

That's the real history of Thrash, or how it became famous in the States.

If we're on the topic of which thrash bands formed first then to my knowledge Kreator were first, i believe they were formed in 1978, then Blind Illusion in 1979, then Exodus & Overkill in 1980; those are the earliest bands I know of. But I doubt they were actually playing thrash at this time, I know that Overkill wasn't, they were playing more of a punk sound.
