Sadly many doctors who perform RF procedures are not properly trained, are not aware of the serious risks of permanent damage of doing RF on the SI joint areas. I realize I am posting lots of comments and I'm sorry, but I've been in your shoes and like your video is to educate people, I wish to do the same by providing my experiences and what I've learned with injections and RF to my SI joint. Please do not take my comments personally, I think your video & the info you provide is GREAT!
When the RF needles are placed, it is best for the patient to be no more than mildly sedated. The reason being is if the needle is in the wrong place the patient will get symptoms in their leg, sciatica. If this happens the needle MUST be moved. If the RF is done when pt. is feeling sciatica, then they are burning a mobility nerve which can cause permanent irreversible nerve damage.
RF should not be done on the major nerves (In your pictures the thick yellow one) as they are mobility nerves. The RF should only be done on the nerves in the middle, think of a sandwich. Your skin nerves (1 piece of bread), middle nerves (insides of sandwich) and mobility nerves (ones closest to the bones) other piece of bread. RF should only go for those middle nerves. But RF in the SI area is dangerous because of the large mobility nerve that runs through the pelvis at the joint.
Be very careful with radio frequency ablation of the SI joint itself as, over time, it can cause damage to the sciatic nerve that goes through the pelvis (it has another name but I can't recall it right now) and if it is damaged with RF you can become incontinent both bladder and/or bowel.
Thank you for putting up this video. So many people, doctors included, do not know about the sacroiliac joints. I live with a broken SI joint on the left side, which has left me in constant pain. Surgeons attempted 2 fusions and both failed, leaving me with a permanent compound fracture of the left SI joint, with instability and arthritis in the right side joint. I hope your doctors are treating your pain effectively!
So sorry that this has happen to you. I hope the Lord will heal your pain. Before seeing your video, I was seriously considering this procedure as nothing else has worked... rest, pt, si joint injections epidurals etc. Thanks for posting as I now know ignorance is not so bliss.
Hey, I understand sijd Really ruined your life, but I think you should try sij fusion or fixation still, even if they fried your nerves it's possible it can regrow back once you fix the source of the problem. Im also suffering from this disaster, And you know once they corrected my joint my pain gradually reduced
SpinergyDude: I hope you are better now than you were when you made this video! Thanks for taking the time to share. Lots of us with SIJD are on a Facebook group called: SACRO-ILIAC JOINT SYNDROME / SI JOINT DYSFUNCTION - SIJD
i really do feel your pain! hope you get some relief soon! people dont realise how disabling this can be, i couldnt put on socks or underwear or anything like that. off my crutches now... hope you get some relief soon.
Thank you for the very revealing presentation concerning your specific situation. I love the idea that you stress that you never give of hope...you are a real trouper in my book, but this doesn't surprise me,as I already knew that you were. Many thanks for this enlightening video.:)

Dude, I have low back pain, and have had
no help from treatment. But, I pray your pain is relieved before mine. Will your leg
nerve come back in time? I hope so.
Cheers,
David

I told my Dr. where the pain was and automatically he knew that that it was the SI joint. However, I see an MD who is also a PHD in Microbiology.
