Gutwrenching. We who are far away can only hope that these kinds of tragedies are not occurring right now in Fukushima. If you think about the possibility too much, it can really have an effect on you. I wish a fast recovery for Japan's people and safety for all the children of the disaster.
You made me cry all over again. Sooooo sad. "Can you feel the hearts of the children aching for home? For something of their very own?" Poor babies...I have never had a movie touch me this way. Everyone should see it. Thank for such a heartfelt amv.
@PiratexRufus ... thanks! I'm glad this video is still getting some views after a few years... but sad to think that the situation in Iraq is still not so good... :\
No matter how many times I watch this video, or how long it's been since the last time I saw it, I still am amazed and moved by the beauty, and sorrow! Thank you so much for creating and posting such an incredible piece of art! I cry every time!
@CherryGirl722, thanks for the kind words! This video was the only anime music video I ever really HAD to make--it was why I tried to learn how to make AMV's... obviously this movie and this song are both very important to me, too. :,) Thanks!
No matter how stupid this sounds I have to say it :P
When I used to play stuff like Call of Duty world at war I just used to run in and kill people without a thought.
After watching Grave of the fireflies I was kinda like... what could this kinda crap be doing to the people not on the battlefield but at there homes (Blah I know thats just a game but It made me think :P)
And Grave of the fireflies was the first movie to make me cry :3
its okay to kill as many people as you want. you're smart enoughto distinguish reality from a freakin GAME aren't you? A game is just a game. Reality is reality.
It's funny how you brought the war on terror into this. Seeing as we are the only thing in those regions now that keep it from dissolving into sectarian violence and multi-faction civil war. Coalation forces are like a buffer zone, trying to keep everyone from killing each other. So if anything, we are saving lives, not to mention the genocides committed by Hussein against the Kurds.
I'm not going to pretend Saddam Hussein was a good or moral leader. But.... he kept order there much better than we have been doing. By removing him, the US sparked a civil war, and made it much less safe. If you want to make the argument that we took him out because he was evil, then that sort of obligates us to take out dozens of other world leaders who are just as evil--yet we haven't. What the US did in Iraq was incredibly unjust and even illegal according to international agreements.
Thank you! I'm glad you like what I put together. Kurt Bestor (the composer of this song) and the people who created "The Grave of the Fireflies" each wrote an incredible message to our world. I really wish we Americans would think of this more often before going so quickly to war.
If I might ask, what was that movie about (Grave of the fireflies) If I were to pass an opinion I would assume it's about the terrors of war? Anyway, really wonderful job! I know what you mean, though it's not just Americans, humanity really needs to take a long hard look at itself on a whole. Right now everything seems like a really hot mess.
This movie was an anime set in Japan during WWII. I would imagine that 'the terrors of war' is a good way to describe the theme. I might say its also more about the far-reaching long-term effects of war. The two main characters in this movie end up dying because of the war--not by a bomb or any kind of weapon, but by the attitude of neglect and every-man-for-himself in such desperate situations. You should see it for yourself if you get the chance.
I'm not quite sure who sings this version... isn't that bad?? I know Kurt Bestor wrote it, and the song says it is by Kurt Bestor and Sam Cardon. So, it might be sung by Sam Cardon.
Great job on the video " fgirl ". I love this song, it was introduced by my good friend and for the first time I have heard it here to its completion, great job especially with your beatiful work you did on this video. Thank you.
I'm the composer of the piece "Prayer of the Children" and I wanted you to know that your movie truly left me speechless. The way you take the viewer to a haunting new world with a song that was originally inspired by the civil war in Yugoslavia is wonderful. It really works. Thank you so much.
I am the composer of the music and lyrics for "Prayer of the Children" and I'm incredibly moved by what you have created. It is sublimely beautiful and takes the viewer to a sad and haunting world. Even though the music was written for something entirely different - somehow you've made it all fit. Thanks so much.
I love your videos so much! I wish I knew how to use Windows Movie Maker, I need to learn how to use that. I bet you will win the AMV contest at Nan Desu Kan! ^^ *glomp* I'm proud of you Sarah!
I decided I would rather more people see it than have it premiere two months from now. Too bad someone didn't think too much of it already.. -_- whoever rated it after Mari left 2 stars.
I'm so proud of the job you've done on this video. It's such a huge leap from where you were just a couple months ago. You've put all your creative abilities into this amazing video and I can honestly say This's one of the best Grave of the Fireflies music videos I've ever seen ... I cried the first time I saw the completed piece. And just think! You'll only get better from now on! Ee! I'm so excited for you!! I can't wait 'til Nan Desu Kan! ::huggy::

USA didnt do anything against an evil leader...USA did something for its own profit.
Let's all pray there is a God..not a vengeful One...but a just One.Not a war mongering God but a loving One.
And may we all find piece in the end :D

I'll keep it in mind, it seems really interesting (And tear jerking of course, nothing wrong with that though.) Thanks for turning me onto it.

Zeontwilight:Grave of the fireflies is about a family who lived in Hiroshima in 1945. With the allied air raids and so on.
Schmidtah 3 years ago
Yep, that would be filed under the depressing Tear jerking category. Still, I'd like to see it. Thanks for the info

Very well done. One of the most touching songs ever (and movie).
Kurt bestor And sam are an incredible mix... it's from their album Innovators. New age is some of my favorite stuff.
If you like this piece you might want to look for Riggoletto... Which Kurt bestor also helped with the music to that movie if I recall correctly.
